Is anyone watching this on c5 shortly? I'm fascinated by how brazen her Mother was. Poor, poor child :(

Haveanice I think he saw her on the lap at an event before she went missing but it found it odd.

HaveANiceFuckingDay · 10/02/2021 22:42

@mrgrinch channel 5

rc22 · 10/02/2021 22:42

I felt sorry for her best friend. I also wondered if Shannon had stayed in contact with her dad.

Bluntness100 · 10/02/2021 22:43

I have some insight into this, a friend is a senior police officer. At the time, when she was just making the appeal and everyone thought the daughter was missing, we were having dinner and I mentioned it being awful and he said quietly. “We think it’s the mother” . When I expressed surprise, he just nodded snd said “ we think the mothers done it, it’s not what it seems”

So the police suspected from very early on. And were right.

DisposableGoon · 10/02/2021 22:44

She's (KM) been out of prison for a while. Well known in the town she now lives in.

Mrgrinch · 10/02/2021 22:44

Thank you @HaveANiceFuckingDay

nogooddeedgoesunpunished · 10/02/2021 22:44

I was suspicious from the moment she asked someone to pass her I think it was either vinegar or ketchup when they were being filmed eating chips at home when Shannon was still missing.I just remember thinking how could you care about seasoning what you were eating when your child was supposedly missing ?

HaveANiceFuckingDay · 10/02/2021 22:45

Apparently KM has found god and volunteers in a charity shop

WinstonmissesXmas · 10/02/2021 22:47

Wasn’t her real dad actually related to her mum? Like half brother or something?

2021hwg · 10/02/2021 22:49

Wasn't there a documentary made while Shannon was still missing. I have a vague memory of it

TheChosenTwo · 10/02/2021 22:52

Do you think she’s allowed any contact with her biological father?
I didn’t watch the programme but remember seeing her dad appear at one of the many searches. I’ll say something though, that community effort, they were out all the time rallying support - totally misled and made a fool of. But not really, it just showed a wonderful group of people who really cared and wanted her to be found safe and well.
I do hope that wherever those 7 children are now that they are settled in to loving families, they deserve it.

HaveANiceFuckingDay · 10/02/2021 22:55

I’d imagine they would have all been split up which is a real Shame , but realistically who’d want 7 kids all at once hopefully the smaller ones would have been too young to remember much I’m assuming

Pebbledashery · 10/02/2021 22:56

God. I'd have given her more than a bloody slap in prison!

I dont think there’s any reason why she would not be able to see her bio father unless he disappeared from her life

Nicknacky · 10/02/2021 22:59

@Bluntness100 I assume you don’t mean he was an officer involved in the investigation but was giving his personal opinion?

Just out of pure nosiness, what rank is senior?

Pebbledashery · 10/02/2021 23:02

Imagine serving KM in a shop!

OP posts:
wewillmeetagain · 10/02/2021 23:03

Im pretty sure i read somewhere that KM lives in Reading.

Deedeedocket · 10/02/2021 23:05

The programme with Sheridan smith was very good. I think it was Gemma Whalen that played Karen (from killing Eve, GOT) and had the woman who played Sherlock sister in it. Forget her name.

She grabbed a toy off the shelf and said it was Shannon’s favourite in the style of Kate McCann as far as I remember.

Awful woman.

HaveANiceFuckingDay · 10/02/2021 23:09

@willwemeetagain
That accent in reading would stand out like a sore thumb I’d imagine
What if someone said to her where’s your accent from and she says Yorkshire, they may look a little bit harder . I wonder if she’s changed her name ? Because Karen matthews with a Yorkshire accent in reading wouldn’t be difficult to figure out it were her
Can convicted criminals even change their name ? It would make them hard to find in the system if Karen Mathews went to Andrea Taylor ? Youd never be able to keep tabs on her

My social worker friend said that social services also suspected the mother. She didn't tell me this until quite some time afterwards though.

wewillmeetagain · 10/02/2021 23:12

@HaveANiceFuckingDay i dont have a clue about a name change. I believe she was first relocated to east anglia but was moved quickly after being harassed.

Nicknacky · 10/02/2021 23:13

@Ginfordinner Was your social worker friend involved in the enquiry?

BlueTimes · 10/02/2021 23:14

I remember this at the time. I’m pretty sure the main media focus was still all about Madeline McCann. I’m just glad Shannon was found and I hope she has a good life since.

How very unprofessional of your friend.
