Join the MN Coronation Street thread today and you too could have an exciting lifestyle where you earn your own money, set your own hours and most definitely do not end up eating the chocolate off the Bounty at the bottom of the Celebrations tub out of desperation! Absolutely not a pyramid selling scheme, hun!

Thing with Corrie is that the parents are treated like children eg Peter and the children are expected to behave like adults.

Poor kids

Deadringer · 23/02/2021 10:22

Who in God's name would do a jigsaw of a load of beans? It would drive you to drink! Peter is like a little old lady wrapped in a shawl.

JackieWeaverIsTheAuthority · 23/02/2021 11:09

Ken, Peter, Tracey, Steve and Amy all live in that house. A family of 5. So of course they hand the only dining table over to Peter to do his bloody jigsaw. Do they all just stand to eat their breakfast lunch and dinner? Hmm

TheLaughingGenome · 23/02/2021 11:40

Was it ever established if Geoff and Yasmeen were even legally married?

And what happened to Geoff's estate after he died?

WeeWillyWanky · 23/02/2021 12:16

I'd forgotten who Geoff was and had to google Shock He's only been dead 5 minutes!

Roussette · 23/02/2021 12:19

WeeWilly Corrie does induce memory loss, it's a known fact! Happens to me all the time Grin

Wendyhause · 23/02/2021 12:24

Sometimes I feel sorry for the actors who have to carry out these farcical storylines. I agree Peter should get back to doing what he does best (wearing his navy jacket and looking proper manly) but his old dad Ken is obviously not retiring from acting any day soon. He looks so tired and frail now.
As for Steve and Tim! The comedy duo idea is a miserable fail. Steve has been a (not really funny at all) laughing stock of a character for far too long.

Beebumble2 · 23/02/2021 12:35

Simon - the worst actor ever. Are they planning to get rid of him anytime soon? His interaction with Leanne is so wooden! He’s also hesitant on his lines.
No one seems to have home schooled any of the children?

Roussette · 23/02/2021 12:41

Maybe I am just a simple creature but Steve has always made me laugh! He has some cracking one liners sometimes!

Clawdy · 23/02/2021 12:53

It's the stupid faces he pulls that annoy me most.

JackieWeaverIsTheAuthority · 23/02/2021 12:56

Steve used to be a brilliant character. Originally when he was a prick and low level criminal- good character. Then he softened and started the bromance banter with Tim- good character. But now they’ve just completely lost the plot with him. He’s not a character anymore. He’s a 2 minute blast of silly string.

Clawdy · 23/02/2021 12:58

There was a comedy series about a firm of funeral directors, many years ago, I think Steve and Tim were trying to channel it !

MrsKFZeeeeee · 23/02/2021 17:35

its annoying me that they are having to explain the story lines rather than let them develop
Carla and Lucas ,' Peter and me are soul mates , we always find our way back to each other' , again and again and again and again and again

StillCoughingandLaughing · 23/02/2021 18:15

Did we solve if street cars was still running? Or just no office?

I presume they only sold the building, not the business itself. Given that Ray and Debbie aren’t planning to demolish it anymore, I’m assuming Debbie is letting them rent it.

Omg just watched last nights and carla's speech to Lucas was straight out of wuthering heights when Catherine is saying why she can't live without heathcliff and I can't believe they're making gails dads funeral into a farce . I'm watching classic Corrie to and the writing has so gone down the drain .

woodhill · 23/02/2021 18:27

Why couldn't he leave flowers at reception for Carla instead of wandering in and eavesdropping- so tedious
TheLaughingGenome · 23/02/2021 18:44

I keep reading Glen Wallace (Lucas) as 'Greg Wallace' in the credits and thinking, 'when was that pie-faced gurning bastard on?'

whatsthestory123 · 23/02/2021 19:15

Simon has always been a terrible actor

will he turn into a drug addict as maybe he has inherited an addictive personality like his dad

TheLaughingGenome · 23/02/2021 19:28

The Simon actor has been in it for so long, you'd think he'd have picked up at least a couple of acting skills by now.

But no.

eggandonion · 23/02/2021 19:31

Poor Simon, Peter should let him help with the jigsaw, my dd is liable to do a similar one. She does it by shape of pieces.
Peter needs to get rid of the blanket and get a nice dressing gown. A smoking jacket perhaps. Jamie dornan would be a better potential squeeze for Carla.

eddiemairswife · 23/02/2021 19:32

Simon and Chesney.......both cute and endearing as small children, but pretty unconvincing as older characters.

Clawdy · 23/02/2021 19:38

Starbonnet123 so glad someone else thought of the Heathcliff and Cathy link! I said it reminded me of that scene in Wuthering Heights, and DH looked at me blankly.

WeeWillyWanky · 23/02/2021 19:41

We all agree that Peter's blanket is grim but let's just be thankful that he hasn't borrowed Ken's kimono.

SophieB100 · 23/02/2021 20:04

I agree about comparing Classic Corrie to Crap Corrie - the former is so much better, stronger characters, writing (Sally Wainwright, who wrote Last Tango in Halifax wrote the current Classic episodes - she's excellent at real dialogue and characterisation). The difference between now and then is stark and just shows how poor it has become.

Peter looked healthier wrapped round a bottle of scotch, than he currently does in that awful blanket.

It's dire - I don't care at all about Sly Si, Leanne and fuzzy-felt eyebrowed Carla in the slightest.

Starbonnet123 · 23/02/2021 20:27

@Clawdy I was waiting for Carla to say "I am Peter " I would have choked on my coffee 😂
