Channel 4 now. Anyone watching? I'm finding it really hard to watch and listen to. How the undercover police do that job talking to perverts all day using that language I don't know, what an amazing job they do though.

It's really hard to watch but I want to see the conclusion of the man they've arrested.

From a Justice worker, you would be absolutely astounded if you knew just how prevalent csa is in this country. I've been in the job for 4 years, and since starting it has grown exponentially. It is distressing, gut wrenching and soul destroying work a lot of the time, but I can assure you we will continue to so it so long as we can help to protect even one single child.

I am sorry if I upset anyone. I just wanted to point out that the features I have noticed are not facial features. That’s all I’m saying. It’s just my personal experience.

I don't think you've upset anyone, I just think that your ideas are, at best misguided. I'm happy to be proven wrong if you have any supporting evidence that says "These features predict child sex abuse".

garden4569 · 10/02/2021 12:34

I didn't watch the program but one thing that I think is not discussed enough is how do we get children to open up to us and tell us when something creepy is happening.

I agree that the Internet providers, website owners have to take some responsibility on keeping children safe. Also that wherever their are kids then pedophiles will be predatory in that space. But it's so distressing to know that conversations are being had with children that leads them into abusive relationships and situations.

How do we get children to talk about this and to tell someone when they re approached /compromised or abused.

It's heartbreaking actually.

Just like VG Hands boggles my brain.
A friends DB is out on licence for violent offences and part of his conditions are a monthly jab.
If it's ok to prevent violence why not sex crimes?
If paedophiles truly can't help their urges you would think they'd be jumping at the opportunity to stop them.

PlinkPlink · 10/02/2021 13:17

@TheMostHappy do you think its because of the Dark web? I hadn't even heard of it until 10 years ago but hardly anyone had even heard of it then. Now everyone knows it... and the fact you watch and obtain anything you want through there.

Antilibidinal medications are available.

TheQueef · 10/02/2021 13:27

Bog standard Depo provera contraceptive jab Hands but every month not three monthly.
For my friends DB it's worked a charm. No fights, no stabbing chemist staff with pens no running around town with a machete. Bonus is no sex drive so no girlfriend drama. He's almost completed two years without violent offending.
It's got potential imo.

bridgetjones1 · 10/02/2021 13:42

I’ve just tried to watch it, got as far as the baby disturbance and switched it off 😢

LordOfTheOnionRings · 10/02/2021 13:50

I think it's important to watch. My mum let me on chat avenue when I was younger and at 12 my friend and I thought it was funny to engage with men online who we now know looking back with adult eyes were peadophiles and my parents were none the wiser. It happens and we need to be clued up to protect our children.

I was fine up until the officers reaction at seeing 'baby disruption' where he spoke about the pain caused to that baby. Not just sexual but acts that would have cause that baby immense pain. How can people who are so cruel exist? Keep your children safe.

The vast majority now use the dark web, I think it's estimated at around 200-250,000 offend using it.
The NCA does a huge amount around CSA including raising awareness with schools and organisations but it's never ending.

LordOfTheOnionRings · 10/02/2021 14:25

How can people do this to children? Just finished and saw that Kieron Swain who made and possessed images of children will only be on the sec offenders registry for five years. Any peadophile should be on there for life.

The no comment interview by the first offender made me so so angry. You can tell his solicitor wanted the ground to swallow him up.

randomer · 10/02/2021 15:36

The bastards running these sites and the dark web are culpable.

dottypotter · 10/02/2021 16:18

Wouldn't watch this.

Portla · 10/02/2021 16:23

It's truly disgusting.

We had a sex offender living in our street. It was common knowledge, the scariest part is that he'd interact with the neighbours children riding past on bikes, have them helping with his car. Whilst most neighbours pulled they're children away made them play away from his others shrugged it off as others being bad minded, rumors. Some phoned the police and was ignored, he was allowed to keep his cctv camera which covered playing areas ect. We felt powerless. He was later convicted and sentenced to over 15 years. No one knows the full details of the case obviously but that length of sentence compared to the absolute piss take that many recieve it must of been horrendous. I just can't imagine how many of these vile people we pass and interact with every day Sad

SakuraEdenSwan1 · 10/02/2021 16:44

I caught up on this last and found it extremely disturbing to watch, the fact these police officers have to do this every day? Wow I am pretty tough but would struggle with this, but the chat rooms were clearly advertising what they are all about, the usernames were utterly vile yet they were clearly able to pass the filter, and where were the moderators?

OldAndWornOut · 10/02/2021 16:50

The statement chat avenue issued basically swept it all under the carpet, said they didn't allow adults to chat (an absolute joke, considering usernames such as 'youngpussylover') and threw the blame back onto parents.

SoVery · 10/02/2021 16:52

Made me feel physically sick.

SakuraEdenSwan1 · 10/02/2021 16:53

@AgeLikeWine

‘Baby disruption’.

Sad

This turned my stomach, horrific
whymewhyme · 10/02/2021 19:40

What can i do to help, i need to do somthing!!!!

Skirmish1 · 10/02/2021 19:44

Unfortunately things could get even worse with the increase in the use of end to end encryption technology on messaging platforms like Facebook Messenger.
