Channel 4 now. Anyone watching? I'm finding it really hard to watch and listen to. How the undercover police do that job talking to perverts all day using that language I don't know, what an amazing job they do though.

It's really hard to watch but I want to see the conclusion of the man they've arrested.

@Incogweeto I was the same. Watching behind my hands and I agree that it's been shown for a reason. I had my head buried in the sand beforehand

I feel cnfident that my children will be kept safe. What worries me is the innocent victims featured in the photos. Often in other parts of the world. The babies. How do we help them? The disgusting humans who control but also feed this abhorrent industry deserve tougher sentences

I watched the third and then second episodes of this and agree it was deeply disturbing. At times I found it hard to breathe watching it, and physically couldn't stop covering my face. But I strongly feel that they are deliberately making this show in order to shock people into realising what a huge problem there is out there, and how pathetic the sentences are. These police officers must be at the absolute end of their tether, and so so far beyond trying to cover this up with the awfully sanitised language people use like 'grooming' and 'pornography'.

I am very strict with what my kids do online and this has strengthened my resolve a million times over. It's petrifying to think that in a couple of clicks they can be alone with a stranger and sexual abuser in their bedroom.

Sadly, it's fairly close to home as a childhood friend (bit of an oddball but - I thought - a gentle, decent chap) was convicted of downloading child abuse imagines recently. Thousands of them. He got no jail time, no community service and was given 1 month on a tag and had a curfew - which considering all the crime was committed in his own home is utterly fucking ridiculous. He'll be on the register for 5 years which is at least something. He's not remorseful just feels sorry for himself, like the rest of the cringing scum on this show.

@purpleme12

Why are judges giving out low sentences for these things then?

They follow sentencing guidelines, and there are so many offenders there is nothing that can be done unfortunately. It would be impossible to hand out prison sentences to half a million people when our prisons house under 100k.

What can we do to make sure our children don't get lulled into this

I don't think watching porn should be discussed with on this thread. Can't really compare the two.

The figures they quoted were shocking
If all the people committing things like this and worse were convicted the prisons would be full 10 times over I think it said?

Legitimately.. These parasites are only sorry once they've been caught.

In my rather dull middle class life I have come across 4 paedophiles in my social circle. All were married with children. One was a C of E vicar, one a minister of religion, one a minor children's tv personality and one a travelling salesman. They all used adult porn too. The salesman was known to be very promiscuous with women, despite being a church goer.
In my work, I supported adult victims, all of whom were abused by priests in boarding schools and care homes.
If that is my personal experience, it seems to be absolutely rife.
I don't know how on earth we deal with this.

@waitingforgranny It’s terrifying. What has gone wrong in their heads to feel like this? Especially babies, I can’t bear it, how can this be possibly be stopped and is it becoming worse or are we just more aware of it? Kids are just so innocent, it hurts my heart so much, after that first show I couldn’t get it out of my mind.

@Trainerdilemma it's very hard to watch and I have been feeling very angry since I did.

The programme could clouded last night with a police officer saying that this problem is huge. We need to talk about it. We need to be aware of it. We shouldn't sweep it under the carpet any more. This is happening and it's rife

If you can bear to watch, you'll find out that it's quite normal men. The ones featured worked in schools, care homes etc. They work with children. Vulnerable ones.

They walk amongst us, they have partners and kids of their own. They want groom your kid through online chat rooms.

I only watched the first programme as it affected me so badly, I thought about it for days. I have a toddler Dd and just feel so heartbroken and angry that these poor babies are being treated like this. I don’t understand where they are/who’s doing it and how long it will go on for, it’s horrific fo think this is their daily life, these people deserve the death penalty, how can we help to stop this, feel powerless.

@Nancylovesthecock

I had to turn it off.

It was incredibly unnecessarily explicit and disgusting.

I’ve worked in that arena for years and I thought it was far too explicit. There was absolutely no need for them to go into such graphic detail. There will have been perverts getting off on watching the documentary because of the detail in it.

I found it very disturbing. It gave me a new understanding of how some of the victims are properly scared without ever physically meeting these men. As a parent il my main concern is grooming and then being tricked into meeting up. It's much more than that. Very scary.

The first guy Stephen had never been arrested before and got prison for arranging a meeting.
Denis had been arrested before for contact offences put unfortunately not prosecuted and he got a community order and only spent time in prison on remand.
I work in an associated profession as these officers and sentencing is baffling to us all on a regular basis. That's if it even gets to court in the first place let alone a conviction

There seems such a disparity in sentencing for similar offences. Judges baffle me!

Due to the offenders history etc
