Remember a few years ago they briefly turned her into an actual Kathy Bates type character? She tried to kill Norris in a remote cottage somewhere. Then they turned her back into dippy Mary and it was never again mentioned

I'm sure in the past, David found out that Gail was going to have an abortion when she found out she was pregnant with him and it was only because Martin begged her not to go through with it that she reconsidered. I think this is supposed to be one reason why David treats her like crap.

Leanne has always been unlikeable and is even more so now. Everyone understandably rallied round her when her son was dying but she was vile to every single one of them. Now its just a pity party and her ignoring the son she does have. And still everyone is being lovely with her. Did she not wonder how Simon gets the money to pay off the electricity bill or whatever? Sounds harsh I know, but I think she's awful.

I remember that too. However David went on to marry a woman who tried to sell her child so I don’t think he really gets best Gail up over choosing to keep and raise him.

I don’t think Simon’s rich grandad is dead, but Anthony Valentine who played him is dead so maybe that’s why they never mention him anymore?

I think a good storyline would be if Simon’s grandfather and his wife were killed in a car crash and Simon got the lot. The wealth could go to his head, and the whole balance of power would change in his family if he was the rich one.

You could even throw in a disgruntled relative on the wife’s side who thought he/she should have got the money. Ooh - maybe a vixenish niece who decides to seduce Simon to get her hands on the cash one way or another. Writes itself really.

I'm just catching up with Friday's episode and am fast forwarding through the Simon bits. David s so nasty, it's a pity he wasn't on Simon's bike when the woman ran it over.

That must be why Beth isn't in it so, I like Beth and Kirk together they really suit each other.

I remember that with Mary and Norris in a remote cottage, he kept catching her talking to herself in the mirror and stuff and was convinced she was going to kill him or keep him hostage or something, turned out she was talking to her mother on the phone but he never saw the phone, didn't someone come to rescue him and then the truth was revealed.

I wonder if we’ll ever see Izzie or Alex again? And what about Moira? It’s been over a year since she last appeared and is never mentioned. Has she left?

We’ll almost definitely see Izzy again, even though the character hasn’t had a decent plot since we went decimal, as Cherylee Houston is one of the only prominent wheelchair users on mainstream TV. ITV does not want ‘Soap axes only disabled actor’ headlines.

As for Moira, I think she was only ever a recurring character rather than full-time. I think the actress still does The Archers, so maybe she’s concentrating on that... I’m guessing actors can phone in their lines to avoid social distancing issues?

I presumed Izzy is shielding in real life maybe? If I was her I wouldn’t want work at poxy factory that got knocked down, they rebuild and you still can’t go through the front door but via the loading bay. Nice!

I think I’ve solved the what to do about Gemma card. Chesney gets headhunted to go and work in a kebab shop on the Orkney Islands. Obvious they can never come back for visits. For any major events there can be a storm, snow, ferry strike and oh dear what a shame.

Chesney used to sell pet equipment on the market. Maybe they could rent a big house on Albert Square and move there. I don't watch Eastenders since lofty left.

I hope Gail buys the house and reclaims her lovely annex, David will have to make do with the box room.

Simon actor had first child aged 17, split with the mother and has a new gf now. Standard teenage stuff tbh, just sadly a child is involved. Couldn’t comment on the parenting ability of said child.

I was musing last night how different Corrie and Eastenders are. Even though both have bad guys and murders. Phil Mitchell landing there would seem much more menacing. Chesney on a market stall would get eaten alive.

I didn't dven know there was ever a Moira in Coronation Street. Only that awful mouthy one on Emmerdale.
