IntermittentParps

I love Lucy Worsley but suspect she’d be awful. She never seems any good at the dancing when she does it for her history programmes.

Pair her with Gio and it could be a different story Grin

MistletoeandMoccasins · 13/12/2020 15:30

Just realised why I noticed the height discrepancy more in Harvey and Janette's Charleston - she was in flats for the first time. D'oh!

IntermittentParps · 13/12/2020 15:44

Re: street dance, I said this on the old thread (before I realised I was talking to myself):
HATED their CC. Street dance on this show often looks like a piss-take of that genre; I'm sure if you watch proper street dance done by a proper company it's not like that. It looked dated and the clothes were just cartoonish.

BigBadVoodooHat · 13/12/2020 16:03

the camera work was dreadful

I saw something on another forum suggesting that they hit the camera at one point! I didn’t notice, but I was only half watching as (despite having been a fan of Bill for 15+ years) I found it a bit cringey.

Sparklingbrook · 13/12/2020 16:06

I know James Jordan can be a bit twatty but the Twitter commentary he does on a Saturday night is very honest. Last night he said this about Bill-

I have to be true to myself & say - that was shit

I think he just says what a lot of people think.

I wholeheartedly agree. As a person, he’s a bit of a dick, but his dance commentary is spot on.

I notice he’s mentioned a few times about how the ‘speciality’ dances are taking over, and the ballroom isn’t really ‘proper’ ballroom anymore. Last night he said something along the lines of how Jamie’s QS was a good effort, but not what he understands a quickstep to be.

He’s not wrong about that. Sad

Skipsurvey · 13/12/2020 16:24

is there a link to James Jordons commentry?

Just look up his Twitter-I don't think you have to be on Twitter yourself to do it.
TheLadyOfShallnott · 13/12/2020 16:26

I think JJ should be perched beside the judges.

His hoofing honesty would be refreshing.

I know this year has not been the usual strickly experience but the early couple choices and dumbing down has grated my kidneys.

He is usually Bob on.

TheLadyOfShallnott · 13/12/2020 16:36

And yes, I agree with JJ completely about MEasie being v good.

If she could make me feel something then she could have the world at her feet. Apart from the vw last night, I feel nowt.

For someone who has been acting since 5 or whatever, this is a bother. You’d think she could make you feel emotion easily but she just doesn’t.

Confidence is a wonderful thing and I love to see it. But it is a slide away from arrogance and blaw and I just get that off her.

I wish I didn’t.

He has been the same. Although not so gurny and full of blaw.

My final votes will be to anyone other than the vowelthief and MEasie.

Everyone else has given me joy. Made me feel something.

It feels more deserving.

xsquared · 13/12/2020 16:46

Can someone explain to me why Maisie is MEaisie?

I wanted Bill Bailey to win to begin with, but I am not sure whether he is good enough to deserve the win. Arguably, Maisie and HRVY are probably too good to win, but I don't mind if HRVY won.

Ranvir would have stood a chance had it not been for the unfortunate jive, as I saw very little technique.

Elderflower14 · 13/12/2020 16:54

I'd love to see Jay Blades from The Repair Shop on Strictly... He's gorgeous.... Very tall though so may be a problem..

Will Kirk would be much much better.
TheLadyOfShallnott · 13/12/2020 17:00

Any of the Repair shop people would do me. They all come across properly lovely to me.

I think Suzie would absolutely blossom with JoeV.

The girl pros would probably have a bit of a sequin scrap over Will Smile

Sparklingbrook · 13/12/2020 17:08

I've watched one episode of Repair Shop so not sure who they are. I bet they would quite like Gi Fletcher after her I'm a Celebrity win. I would say Vernon Kay too but that might be a bit odd if Tess is still presenting.

Knittingnanny · 13/12/2020 17:16

Is it a bit/lot wrong that I think Gio is well, you know, and he is the same age as my youngest son?

TheLadyOfShallnott · 13/12/2020 17:21

I too am well old enough to be his mam.

I feel no shame. It would have been different if he’d been in his 20s. 30s makes it acceptable. Smile

Elderflower14 · 13/12/2020 17:22

I did think of Will..Hes quite cute... There's a lady on a Border Terrier page on FB who's called her dog Brenton! First pic is Jay, second is Will....

Not wrong at all... Gio and Taron Egerton are both young enough to be my children and I adore them both... 💙
TheLadyOfShallnott · 13/12/2020 17:26

I love Brenton.

I love them all. What they do is just the best ever.

I want to work there too. I’d have to be a cleaner or tea lady as I don’t know about mending.

It is the best thing on the telly for me. (Although it is equal with Eurovision) It is consistently heartwarming and it makes me happy.

Love it.

This may help.

Knittingnanny · 13/12/2020 17:35

Haha!!

ElspethFlashman · 13/12/2020 17:38

Last night when the judges were talking about Jamie I turned to DH and said "they are absolutely dying to weed him out".

And its a real shame because he's still getting better, his attitude is fantastic and God help me, I really like the guy.

Whereas Bill is kinda of leaving me cold (he takes himself way more serious than I thought), Ranvir and NVWLS were pretty poor in one of their dances and I thought Maisie wasn't that great in the CC.

Sometimes this year I have genuinely thought the judges all had beer goggles on. Everything is amazing. Except Jamie, who they merely tolerate.

TheLadyOfShallnott · 13/12/2020 17:43

It didn’t help with the flurry of early 10s elizabeth

Harvey (have your vowels back damn you) and MEasie are good but they were not perfect for the majority of the 10s - and that was a must back in the day.

The judges are of course far more qualified than me. But if little old nohoofer me can see errors then why can’t they??
