But here's the thing about the whole JJ situation.
People go on Strictly for one reason and one reason alone - to boost their profile and get more telly work.
Nobody made him go on Strictly. It's phenomenally strenuous but God knows there are plenty of other TV series that give you a higher profile without anything like this physical effort. If he was that bad, he'd have done one of those instead.
So it kinda grinds my gears when people act like he's some sort of suffering martyr for having to do it. He doesn't have to do it at all! It's just a bloody dancing show!
He's chosen to do it, and he knows what his body can do. He's obviously fit as a flea. And yes, he has challenges but he hasn't missed a single day's training as far as we know whereas in previous years there were often injuries that sidelined people for a week. Yeah, he has an infected abcess or something on his thigh and he has a dressing on it, but it's clearly not halting his gallop. Yet people talk as if he's the bravest ever for soldiering on regardless.
I hate the victim storyline that's been constructed around JJ. I find it totally downplays his actual abilities and makes them into something miraculous "The Physios say he shouldn't be able to do what he can do!"
Well he can. Because he's worked his arse off and become super fit despite his old injuries. And yet he is constantly just portrayed as DISABLED. Something broken and oh so brave. They may as well have made him wear a name badge with" Poor Blown Up Soldier" on it.
I absolutely hate it.
