BVB has done an American Smooth

And ballroom tango.

American Smooth was the only one I was confident was Ballroom 😂

Unsure how finalists are going to do them all.

They won't do them all. In an 'ordinary' series they would miss a dance since there were more dances than could be fitted in (that's assuming a couple stayed in for the long haul), but it might be two now since the addition of the stupid Couple's Choice. But with this being a shorter series than usual, they'll get to skip quite a few (or, more likely, be told by the producers which ones they're skipping).

If I could be bothered to do the maths, I'd work out exactly how many they're missing, but I'll just go with 'loads'

Reminded of the excellent group number from Blackpool a few years ago.

That was a dreadful frock Joanne was wearing. Nothing wrong with bodycon but the material was so flimsy.

In the earlier series they did all 10 TRAs ballroom/Latin dances, but they’ve added AS, AT & CC since then. There have also been short-lived ‘experiments’ like rock & roll and fusion, so some trad dances get edged out.

So I think 'usually' they have five ballroom, five Latin, and five speciality (American Smooth, Argentine Tango, Charleston, salsa, couples choice), then the showdance.

So assuming two in the semi-final (and the only new dance in the film final is the showdance), you'd need a 15-week series to do them all.

I completely forgot about Charleston and salsa when I was trying to work out the extra dances! I knew I didn’t have enough, but I blanked!

Bill and Oti: Argentine Tango to Phantom of the Opera from Phantom of the Opera been done to death but still a crowd pleaser. AT with Davood was still fairly recent though
HRVY and Janette: American Smooth to One (Singular Sensation) from A Chorus Line agree it's a ringery choon. Wish Dance 10 Looks 3 could be used as an instrumental at some point
Jamie and Karen: Jive to Everybody’s Talking About Jamie from Everybody’s Talking About Jamie Very obscure - go! go! go! Joseph worked for Joe but that's a choon - he was on It Takes Two saying omg it made him look narcissistic plus he's on a jive side by side with Maisie so I am voting for him 3x for being stitched up by the producers
JJ and Amy: Charleston to Chitty Chitty Bang Bang from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang still no party latin = no vote
Maisie and Gorka: Jive to Little Shop of Horrors from Little Shop of Horrors Easier music to jive to

Ringah1 versus Ringah2 isn't happening this week. Personally think JJ should go but if Jamie doesn't get a bottom two bounce then it's looking shaky for BVB and I would guess Jamie versus Ranvir, which will annoy me intensely.

I agree - I think JJ needs to go, but I suspect that the Powers-that-Be are trying to engineer things to keep him in as long as possible.

Because I’ve got work to do that I don’t want to do, I just looked up which dances each of the finalists skipped last year:

Kelvin: AT & foxtrot
Emma: AT & samba
Karim: waltz and rumba

Pretty that you can get to the final of a ballroom dancing show without doing a foxtrot or a waltz. That said, this might have been a producer rather than a pro decision. I remember AJ and Saffron wanting to skip the samba (because AJ always gets booted on it), but they weren’t allowed to (and did indeed get booted on it).

I know Anton thinks the samba is a ‘silly dance’ and avoids it where possible, so that probably was his decision.

But for contempowaft, even if they're not dancing in time with each other, for all anyone knows that is what was intended
Are those just mucky, crusty, gross bare feet or are they part of the story? Is that Nana's old curtains or has Vicky Giggles been at the gin again? These are the questions we will never have answers to.

In the semis, the pro could do with an outsider to choreo a specialty so they only have one to choreo as it's a tight week

AS, AT, Salsa also speciality but have put them loosely as latin or ballroom to see where the balance lies.

Oh dear Joanne's dress and shoes (I'm trying to work out why all the choreo women feel the need to dress like that)! IMO She's the best choreo critic they've got (except Ian of course). I think he has picked up on Harvey's sickle foot btw.

So the pros will be doing a Priscilla Q of the Desert dance! That'll be fun .

I agree with ppeatfruit they all dress like that - skintight dress, incredibly high spike heels. It irritates me.

Yes ME TOO, Mareas . If they want to show the RIGHT way to do a particular move\ step they should wear [practice] clothes like leggings and leotards etc (there are soo many beautiful ones around now). With lowish heels for the ballroom moves.

evilringah thanks that was a brilliant clip!!! I'm afraid although I have enjoyed them, it shows up the group dances this year because they dont have that size ballroom floor. Danny Mac was sooo good wasnt he?

I think that routine shows exactly why Danny was brilliant and exactly why he didn’t win. All the other celebs are wheeled on, sometimes literally, and primp for a bit while being fawned on by the pros. Danny is choreographed in like one of the pro men. They could hardly have made it more obvious that he was not playing in the same league as them.

I'm still annoyed that Danny and Oti didn't win! I really wasn't a fan of Ore and Joanne.

That Blackpool clip also reminded me how pleasant it's been without an audience this year. Someone only had to appear and waft a feather to garner an OTT raucous reaction from the crowd

Quick thinking about the octopus re last night's Masterchef Schaden A humongous octopus was also being prepped and served on Great British Menu last night. ( not envy but bileousness!)

Danny and Oti were incredible, but he was just too good from the start and I think they put people off. It’s far more interesting when contestants improve massively over the weeks and end up dancing amazingly, like Joe with Katya. Or they’re unlikely dancers like Bill this year and turn out much better than expected!

That’s what I prefer anyway.

Joe had previous in musical theatre though, IIRC.
But I do agree Danny was way too good and had way too much of an advantage. Much as I love Oti, I'm glad he didn't win.

Phew, she's still in her tank. This one is special She's a bit like the one that predicted the football results but much more sparkly.

AmIcrazy Danni was too good from the start.

I'm not sure about Joe and Katya though, he was very middle of the road. there were 3 women in that final too, they were all ringahs, they were better than him , he was a ringah , just not a particularly good one, plus Craig fancied him
