Just caught up with the weekend and the thread - really enjoy all the comments to read as I’m watching. Was disappointed Clara went as she seems lovely and like she should have done better but sadly I do think it was her time to go. Jamie’s tango to me looked far better and he’s very entertaining to watch (though need to be careful of the over shouting and excess hyper ness at end of his dances lately which would become quite irritating!). Again JJ is just dull to me and I find Amy intensely fake and irritating (I’m easily irritated obviously ). Maisie did a great dance this week but I’m still left cold by her. NVWLS was great I liked it but it wasn’t 10 material surely. Bill did alright but I HATE that move where the females head ends up in the male crotch - wtf?? Ranvir was a little forgettable this week for me.

The greatest dance couple were that outfit, that spinning thing at the end. I genuinely didn’t know what to think.

The costumes this year have been terrible. I’ll have to blame Covid but not quite sure why that’s stopped them giving decent costumes!

The marking is absolutely crazy. Now I’ve only been watching for 3/4 years so I’m not even comparing it to the really good old proper older series which I’ve loved reading about as you discuss them (I wish I could find online they sound like a different program!). I’m only comparing to 3-4 years ago and even I remember the tension and excitement of the 10s coming later and later with Craig last issuing his first of course. This year Motise and Shirley are throwing them around like they are nothing and Craig issues one for that Harvey dance this week. It’s totally devalued 10s surely.

The Saturday filming but showing in a Sunday - I didn’t mind it but wish they’d stop with the whole “on Saturday night” or even worse “last night” surely they could have a phrase like “during the live show” or “when you performed” (I’m clearly not wordsmith but I’m sure someone could have a phrase that didn’t involve referring to Saturday night!!)

Yes! Agree! It's horrendous. I remember all too well the Ed Ballsin Katja's face and Anita Rani and Gleb (I think). It's much too much for me .

I'm impatiently waiting for news of which musicals the couples are dancing to. I detest the way the producers shoehorn themes in so I'm preparing for disappointment.

The results show did used to be on a Saturday night. It was much shorter and no dance off - the bottom couple was just eliminated. It moved to Sunday in 2007

Dancing on Ice used to be all on one night too. They had the main show, then Wild at Heart (or another drama) for an hour, then the results. It did get quite late though.

Is it not all on a Sunday night? I tend to only half watch it as it tends to be 1 or 2 reasonable skaters padded out with some plodding bores, but I was sure it was all on a Sunday night.

Bill & Oti - Argentine Tango to Phantom of the Opera (didnt someone do that fairly recently - within the last 2/3 years? - so I hope they choose a different song at least)

JJ & Amy - Charleston to Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

Ranvir & Gio - VW to 'She Used to be Mine' from Waitress (this is a favourite song of mine so I hope to God the singers dont butcher it - it's a song that needs a lot of belt and range)

Maisie & Gorka - Jive is confirmed but the musical isn't

HRVY & Janette - Nvwls mentioned something about lifts this week in the results show so I would hazard a guess at it being an AS as I cant see them giving him an AT to have 2 in one week when he only did the Tango a couple of weeks ago

BVB p& Karen - this week looks pretty ballroom heavy so maybe a Latin number?

Also apparently Clara and Aljaž would have been doing Couple's choice to All That Jazz from Chicago if they had survived to Musicals week. I'm gutted that we wont get to see that, I reckon it would have been brilliant to watch.

I was going to say how lovely to see that [maybe] someone from Strictly reads this thread (gawd elp them) because there was the Vintage Spot on ITT last night. !!!! Of course, although they could have MADE the time, they just showed effing snippets of the dances. BUT 6 for effort

I agree sooo much that Craig should NOT have got his 10 out for novowels boy . He did have the grace to say he thought he'd lost his mind before dusting it!

Oooh and my fave dance\choreo critic is on ITT tonight Joanne Clifton, she has a gift for it. I luffs her.

I'm a relative newbie to it too, and I so wish I had started watching years ago. I love the references on the threads here, to specific performances of yore, and I usually go and watch some of them on YouTube. I would really love to be able to watch a full series from previous years.

100% agree about the 10s. It used to be exciting, watching to see who would get one, and Craig usually held out to very close to the end. It's no biggie this year at all, to receive a 10.

I so agree about that face in crotch move, ugh. I remember Oti doing it last year also with Kelvin.

So sad about not being able to see Clara doing All That Jazz. I think she would have been good. I think Maisie will be styled like Malibu Barbie and be in trouble again this week.

Just caught up, I cant read the thread while watching, I'm not a professional like you ladies

I had a strange feeling these last two weeks that Clara was dancing bad on the show on purpose. I know this week the initial leap put her off a bit but last week especially, the training clips were too good compared to the bad dance on the night. And I think the mistakes were kind of forced maybe it's just me.

Maisie - loved this weeks dance but I've hated watching her every other week. For me it's the face as she dances (she does it in training too). She will do a strut/move/point with her lips pouted then strut/move/point in another direction with her eyebrows raised and mouth open (like a fake, shocked 'look, my pretty move, and again, ooo') then repeats it over and over. This week she just smiled and acted normal throughout.

Ranvir to win (I now love Gio dearly).

So do I - it's nice to get through a dance without the audience whooping/cheering/clapping out of time.

Not to mention the constant cuts to family members of whoever is dancing - I want to watch the dance/couples not the audience!

The only place I do miss the audience is for the reactions at the end of the dance - it must be hard to perform your heart out and get very little reaction (even though the crew do try their best)
