i do wish that they did a more even approach to the dances.
seems so unfair that Clara goes the week Maisie and JJ yet again have dances that play to their strengths.
and yes we vote for JJ.

@TheLadyOfShallnott

I cannot do activities with feet. The mere thought....

I kept socks on for a year with my ex.
I don’t think anyone outside immediate family has seen my feet in 15 years.

I would win the feet. Rectangular. Webbed. Toes that are very stumpy. Some won’t bend. Little toes that hide with shame under my soles.

Margaret Dabbs would run screaming from her treatment rooms and retire.

Are you one of The Witches Shallnott

TheLadyOfShallnott · 30/11/2020 11:52

If only we could merge feet. (Beat with me - I know it sounds as if I’m going into filth territory)

I think we are both on the extremes of footage - and somewhere in the middle might produce a purty foot.

They did suggest an op on mine when in my teens and it probably would have had a pleasing cosmetic effect also. But it would have meant learning to walk again.

As was, I was a swimmer then and I wasn’t as conscious of them as I am now and they were like fat little flippers - so I chose not..

I would love to wear a strappy sandal but apart from mothercare tan leather sandals and jelly shoes, I have never been able to. I live in boots.

I would have constantly been in Clara’s flappy gymmies had I been in Strictly.

TheLadyOfShallnott · 30/11/2020 11:53

I know not of the Witches of which you speak schadey

But aye. Probably. Halloween Blush

TheLadyOfShallnott · 30/11/2020 11:54

Bear not beat. Sheesh. 🐻

IntermittentParps · 30/11/2020 11:57

I thought Bill was charming, although slightly less good than usual.
JJ and Amy sweet but slightly dull.
Clara and Aljaz she made mistakes and was flat-footed. However, she looked so sad to be going, and so did Aljaz. I'll miss them.
Fucking HATED HRVY and the score was a travesty. One move was a half-arsed spin and jump and if someone else had done it Craig would have slated them; another looked like a lout at a football match. And the theatrical pointing was toe-curling.
Ranvir and Gio slightly dull perhaps, but classy. Love watching them dance together.
Jamie had palpably worked his arse off to master that tango. Not his dance but he acquitted himself well.
Maisie nailed it. Fabulous choreography and frock too.

He’s the product of his entitled upbringing and expensive education. Oh get over yourself, it's not sixth form debate club.
And no I'm not 'privileged' myself; we had no money and I went to a sink school.

Grin, you're on. Let the foot merge commence!

Maireas · 30/11/2020 12:01

I have terrible feet - they sound a bit like Sylvie's. They are only a size 4 (I am Janette size) but boney and with long, ugly toes. I used to blame ballet, but my sister did ballet with me for years and hers are OK. I too keep them hidden. My husband, when he first saw them, (after some time) actually gasped. They do not come out in daylight.

TheLadyOfShallnott · 30/11/2020 12:02

sylvie. Halloween Grin

TheLadyOfShallnott · 30/11/2020 12:05

My ex had the sense not to gasp. He had already been subjected to my legs and thankles though and must have instinctively known that the ends of them would be hideous!

TheLadyOfShallnott · 30/11/2020 12:08

As said, I was disdainfully dismissed for being too chunky for ballet Sad
But I’d also not have managed to fit in ballet slippers.

And ballet wellies probably would not have cut it.

Although I could have made it as a swan due to the webbing.

I’m envious of you maireas.

Roald Dahl, Shallnot - your kids mustn't have been as obsessed with his books as mine were.

I have terrible feet - they sound a bit like Sylvie's. They are only a size 4 (I am Janette size) but boney and with long, ugly toes

Same here - mine are a size 3 (2 in some flat shoes) and ridiculously small for an average-sizedadult human. The doctor says that's why I have so many foot problems - because I have a child's feet supporting an overweight adult body.

Most of the time they are skinny and boney, and have horrible blue veins snaking across them like a map of South American river deltas or something. These veins also stand up like a relief map - they look dreadful. However, occasionally my feet swell up and the veins disappear . . . into little balloons of pudding flesh.

I also have a verruca. It is the least disgusting part of my feet.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 30/11/2020 12:10

Maireas · 30/11/2020 12:11

When my son was small, he actually asked me why my feet were like that.
Let us form the Sisterhood of the Ugly Feet!

TheLadyOfShallnott · 30/11/2020 12:11

intermittent

I really really don’t get HRVY. And I really really really didn’t get the 10s.

They were not only on the gin but the entire contents of the bar.

SylvieSangFroid · 30/11/2020 12:14

Let us form the Sisterhood of the Ugly Feet!

Yes, we can have a secret handshake in case we ever meet in public! Nearly suggested a foot shake, but see above re my revolting feet, which you do not want near you!

Maireas · 30/11/2020 12:17

Envy not, Lady B'Stard, I have ramrod straight posture, am very bendy and can put my hair in a topknot in 0.56 seconds, but I would not have cut it in HM Forces. A heavy knife sprains my wrist.

TheLadyOfShallnott · 30/11/2020 12:18

I’m so glad it isn’t just me.

If there is ever a mumsnet meet up we will know the sisterhood from the feet/lack of sandals!

Ah - those witches. (I don’t have little people). I will have to re-read that. My feet sound as though they’ll find their spiritual home.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 30/11/2020 12:19

Just seen this

www.radiotimes.com/news/tv/2020-11-30/strictly-come-dancing-scoring-james-jordan/?utm_source=Adestra&utm_medium=Email&utm_content=&utm_campaign=RadioTimes%20Strictly%20Update_559433_Radio%20Times_RadioTimes.com%20Newsletter%20-%20Strictly_824887

James Jordan on Twitter has suggested offering half marks and this has been picked up by the Radio Times.

Personally I think that if they didn't start bandying about stupidly high scores from the beginning, the present 1-10 would work just fine. They should NEVER award a 10 except for a superlative performance, and that should only start to happen towards the end of the series when the standard is massively raised and all the rings are coming into their own.

They should keep marks near the bottom/middle of the board until at least the half way mark. Whilst it might gut someone to get a five, if no-one scores higher than seven that would take the sting out of it.

TheLadyOfShallnott · 30/11/2020 12:22

You would have cut it. I’d have had your -ramrod- back Smile

Bendy as well though? Envy

I used to be. Not terribly so. But I could at least touch my toes. Those days are kind of gone.

The Charleston shenanigans would be well beyond me.

IntermittentParps · 30/11/2020 12:22

They were not only on the gin but the entire contents of the bar.
It's the only explanation!

I agree, Schadenfreude, the marking needs sorting but half-marks shouldn't be necessary if they were sensible. I remember when this were all fields when Mark and Karen got 9s for a dance in the quarter- or maybe even semi-final and that was a huge deal because everyone had got 7s and 8s until then. 10s were strictly for the final.

SoupDragon · 30/11/2020 12:23

I think they should have kept Anton on as a 4th judge which might have helped with limiting the ties.

TheLadyOfShallnott · 30/11/2020 12:23

Strikey thing fail. ramrod

TheLadyOfShallnott · 30/11/2020 12:27

I will never understand the premature bandying about of 10s.

It used to be something to aspire to and they weren’t even guaranteed to be flopped out for the finals.

They be dumbing it down for the whoops and sparkles.

I miss the proper marking.

TheLadyOfShallnott · 30/11/2020 12:28

Me too soupdragon. Me too.
