I think JJ will go in the next couple of weeks. Maybe before or after Jamie and Ranvir. I don't think he will make the final. He only needs to be in the dance off against any other dancer now and the judges will surely send him home.

Graciebobcat · 30/11/2020 09:08

And IMO he only escaped the dance off on Saturday night as Clara made so many errors. Otherwise it would have been JJ v Jamie.

SoupDragon · 30/11/2020 09:16

With a 3 way tie above her, Clara didn't stand a chance.

SoupDragon · 30/11/2020 09:17

Why hadn't JJ been "difficult" Latin dances? He seems to have had an easy ride and even next week he's got the Charleston which is generally a crowd pleaser.

How do they allocate the dances?

SoupDragon · 30/11/2020 09:18

"Why asn't JJ been given any..."

ppeatfruit · 30/11/2020 09:30

Digout It seemed an ATTEMPT at 50s costuming! More like 'country' style. Not good terrible- whichever it was meant to be. Clara had an attempt at the early sixties\late 50s sort of bouffant hairstyle, bad wig. Grin They were at the end of the queue for the costumes anyhow!

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 30/11/2020 09:41

@SoupDragon

I'm not sure that's true. She was unlucky that all the ones in the tie were quite popular.

It meant she had 3 points, rather than 1, so had a min/max total of 4/10 rather than 2/8.

I wonder if they've changed it? A good few years ago I remember seeing someone explain why the way they handed ties was unfair.

TheLadyOfShallnott · 30/11/2020 09:59

The only beautiful frock I can remember Clara getting is the one in the credits.

That was lovely on her.

It wouldn’t be lovely on me as I now have ‘winter legs’.

Graciebobcat · 30/11/2020 10:02

I wish they would all do one of two dances a week. Or all the same. I'm sure they used to do this.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 30/11/2020 10:05

I don't think there's a completely fair way of doing it (perhaps asking the judges to split the tie before scores are converted to points would be the best way).

The current way gives people under the tie an advantage, but the old way meant that under certain circumstances a person couldn't be saved from the dance off — that's what happened in the series 6 semifinal.

Graciebobcat · 30/11/2020 10:09

I think Maisie and Bill have got through the difficult Latin dances, so the fact JJ has them to come should send him home, when he gets there. And people have been known to leave after a Charleston. Anneka Rice, and Gregg Wallace I think. Though JJ is much better than either of them.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 30/11/2020 10:18

Surprised that Craig saved her as he’s a stickler...will miss Alijaz he’s super !

I think it might have been just to cushion the blow, TBH. Poor girl looked stricken.

I agree she had reached her "peak", but I would have liked to have seen JJ go out first - he's incredibly boooooooring to watch, whereas she always looked so happy.

covetingthepreciousthings · 30/11/2020 10:22

Yes I'm sure I remember this, half would do a waltz the other half would do a salsa (for example), it made it easier to see who was actually doing it well I thought - well for non dancers anyway.

covetingthepreciousthings · 30/11/2020 10:24

Does anyone else think this week most of the music and outfits all went with the dances this week more than normal? I know James Jordan commented on it on twitter too. Let's hope it continues for the rest of the series..

SchadenfreudePersonified · 30/11/2020 10:24

Please don't turn this thread into a "Scots bashing the English"one. That would really upset me and I'd have to leave and that would make me sad.

Please don't force Fuzzy to leave - she has the ear of the Predicting Octopus. (BTW, holding an octopus's tentacles away from her beak while she is throwing up rum and black and assorted molluscs isn't something I ever want to have to do again . . . Confused

SchadenfreudePersonified · 30/11/2020 10:28

@Graciebobcat

They did, and it was MUCH better - 2 dances, one ballroom, one Latin, and EVERY contestant alternated which they had, and EVERY contestant (if they got far enough) did the lot.

None of this contemperowafty bollox, though IIRC they had the chance to perform their favourite dance a second time at one point in the series - I may be wrong about that though. It seems so long ago.

SoupDragon · 30/11/2020 10:36

I like Couple's Choice. Maybe because it's the kind of dance DD does. They just need to add in tap dancing 😂

I don't think Anneka and Gregg were as popular with the voters as JJ seems to be so they would have gone out whatever dance they'd done. I'm not sure I remember Gregg though - must have been before my time.

ElspethFlashman · 30/11/2020 10:38

I'm just profoundly grateful I haven't seen any dirty bare feet yet. Envy

DigOutThoseLemonHandWipes · 30/11/2020 10:57

It just seems profoundly unfair that some people get booted on a tricky dance like a Samba (sorry Sarrrrmba) when they are the only one dancing it and everyone else that week has CC, Charleston or American Smooth, which are crowd pleasers and get high marks from the judges. If everyone has to do the "dance of death" at same time then we lose a bad samba dancer rather than the schmuck landed with the worst dance. (Gazes misty eyed back to the days of sleeve hankies, tail coats, no faffing abouuut and no CG bloody I).

TheLadyOfShallnott · 30/11/2020 11:18

I think you will see dirty wafting feet for Measie’s couple dance.

That or mahoosive jazzhands with TTA.

Either way it will involve extremities.

The thought of anyone’s sweaty trotters directly in the floor gives me the cowk.

I have the ugliest feet in the world and am probably projecting.

Just as well I’m not in charge of CGI.

SylvieSangFroid · 30/11/2020 11:23

Grin I think we are kindred spirits! I have UGLY feet and I can't even do yoga barefoot. I wear yoga socks. I can't bear showing my feet and don't even really like going swimming because of all the feet! Weirdly, other people's feet dancing or at yoga don't especially bother me.. maybe because in distracted, whereas I have to stare at my own feet when doing yoga Envy (not envy).

TheLadyOfShallnott · 30/11/2020 11:33

I cannot do activities with feet. The mere thought....

I kept socks on for a year with my ex.
I don’t think anyone outside immediate family has seen my feet in 15 years.

I would win the feet. Rectangular. Webbed. Toes that are very stumpy. Some won’t bend. Little toes that hide with shame under my soles.

Margaret Dabbs would run screaming from her treatment rooms and retire.

TheLadyOfShallnott · 30/11/2020 11:34

My mam has beautiful feet even now.

With beautiful little ankles.

I don’t know where my trotters came from.

SylvieSangFroid · 30/11/2020 11:38

I have bony feet that wouldn't look out of place on a skeleton. They are long and skinny with abnormally long toes which have to claw because they are so long. Podiatrist commented on it, as it's part of the reason I can't wear heels! My claw toes pull the pads of my feet forward so bone just hits the ground in heels! They are horrid.
