Watched episode four this evening.

The children's home storyline is completely overshadowed now for me by Kata's appalling behaviour over the son/video/party. I know he's her son and she's probably disbelieving and wants to protect him, but turning up like that at the girl's house where she had no right to be and no involvement with the investigation and putting her through that.

I hope she loses her job.

Got so furious about this that DH had to remind me it's fiction.

Redshoeblueshoe · 01/12/2020 23:16

Freezer that's what I was shouting at the TV, sack her. How bloody dare she go round to the girls house. I can't actually decide wether I should watch anymore

Xmasbaby11 · 02/12/2020 00:06

I totally agree about her behaviour! I thought that was unrealistic as she is likely to get into deep shit and she must have known it would be unfair to the girl and likely not be satisfactory. I was quite disgusted by that.

askthedust · 02/12/2020 14:05

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/12/2020 19:09

But as a parent wouldn’t you want to know

So I get why she did it

I hope she loses her job.

Like I said above, in formulaic crime dramas like this one, having the lead detective taken off the job is more or less an inevitablity.

Rollergirl11 · 02/12/2020 22:24

Just watched 3 episodes of this tonight and am enjoying. Will read the entire thread once I’ve caught up with you.

But can I ask where I can find The Bridge? DH and I have never seen but I can only find on Amazon Prime and you have to pay.

MotherForker · 02/12/2020 22:25

The Bridge is currently in Iplayer.

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/12/2020 22:56

Started to watch but as usual tired after nights all week

Will try and watch Tom once toddler in bed

Tonight's was very confusing.

FlyingByTheSeatof · 06/12/2020 01:35

Kata is extremely unlikeable isn't she. So is Maggie short for Magnus. I'm confused with all these names.

And why oh why can't they put the whole series on at once it's like the bloody dark ages it's 2020 move with the times BBC it's we all do these days.

FlyingByTheSeatof · 06/12/2020 01:36

*it's what we do

MotherForker · 06/12/2020 09:21

Magnus is the big eared police chief. He was onto Oslo cop asking questions and that's why he sent him back. He didn't reckon on Kata and the local cop.

I'm still enjoying it. It isn't as good as the Bridge, but after the last 9 months I've watched everything and glad of something new!

I like that Kata isn't likeable, I love a dislikeable main character.

IcedPurple · 06/12/2020 10:23

@Peregrina

Tonight's was very confusing.
Glad I'm not the only one who thought so. Getting confused between all the names and all the men with facial hair! It could definitely do with one of those recapts at the start of each episode, especially as we're watching in the 'old-fashioned' way, ie having to wait a week between episodes.
FlyingByTheSeatof · 06/12/2020 10:48

I think I know who killed the main 3 victims I'll let you know next week if I'm right or completely wrong

ageingdisgracefully · 06/12/2020 11:39

I always get the characters confused in these Scandis, especially the men, who all seem to look alike.

Have they actually said why Kristen's son was in the home? I'm confused by that.

And why did the male Norwegian detective go into the power station without backup and without his phone? I'm getting confused.

All this charging round the countryside without backup is getting a bit silly now IMHO.

ageingdisgracefully · 06/12/2020 11:40

.. and what was the deal with the father's funeral? Confused

FlyingByTheSeatof · 06/12/2020 11:50

So re the funeral they are Jehovahs witnesses and he's been banished from the community for what we can only guess at as his being gay. Or something else entirely but essentially he's been shunned and banished so they are not allowed to communicate with him at all.

FlyingByTheSeatof · 06/12/2020 11:52

If you decide to no longer remain a Jehovahs witness for whatever reason at all they all have to shun you and you are banished until you decide to return to the fold.

IcedPurple · 06/12/2020 11:53

And yet his sister was very keen for him to attend?

I don't get it. It's all quite puzzling.

FlyingByTheSeatof · 06/12/2020 11:56

That's because she loves him and wants to see him. All family members are forced to shun their family members if that's what's been decided.

FlyingByTheSeatof · 06/12/2020 11:56

They are weird like the Amish who are similar with their excommunication etc

FlyingByTheSeatof · 06/12/2020 11:58

Who's Kristen and her son. I'm confused now. Totally forgotten who's who.

DuncinToffee · 06/12/2020 12:31

I think Kristen is Kristjan, the father of Thomas (Tommi) the missing boy.

Tommi was in Valhalla as there were problems at home, I think his father was an alcoholic as he said he went into rehab. The boys all came from troubled backgrounds.

The series is ok, bit predictable and I keep mixing it up with the first series of Hinterland.

Apparently it is based on real life events bar the murders.

DuncinToffee · 06/12/2020 12:36

And why did the male Norwegian detective go into the power station without backup and without his phone? I'm getting confused.

He went there to find Steinarthor, the suspect, because his friend told him he might be hiding there. He told Kata he was going there. Forgetting his phone was just one of those things to up the suspense, just like having no back up.
