I think as a long term victim of abuse she probably doesn't always make logical requests. The grief and loss of her father made her want to see him. Maybe she convinced herself that it would be OK? I'm a survivor or abuse and coercive control and none of her behaviour seems odd to me.

I think you might be reading too much into the handful of scenes she's appeared in. There's no evidence she is a " long term victim of abuse".
DuncinToffee · 07/12/2020 21:28

She seemed to have kept in touch with him, she asked him if he had read her letter in one of the episodes.
I don't know if there is abuse but there is a clearly 'man is head of household' religious thing going on.

I think you're wrong as she shows classic signs of abuse.

I think I know who the final boy is in the photo that we havent yet been privvy to. If you want I can say but I dont want to ruin it if I'm right.

DuncinToffee · 08/12/2020 17:36

Which final boy? How many boys were in the photo? They identified the 2 who gave the tv interviews, the guy in prison, Steinthor and Tommi and a couple who died.

FlyingByTheSeatof · 08/12/2020 17:42

I'm sure there's one boy in the photo who's unaccounted for. But whether that's the case or not I'm still pretty sure as to who the main murderer is.

I hope I'm wrong though I much prefer to be wrong than right.

DuncinToffee · 08/12/2020 17:53

Intriguing Smile

I think Gummi's murderer is someone who wants the Vahalla abuse case to stay a secret, I have 2 suspects. One is mentioned in the last episode.

FlyingByTheSeatof · 08/12/2020 19:28

I can only think of one suspect for Gummi's murderer and I'm hoping it's too obvious.

The policeman

One who looks like lurch from Adams family

FlyingByTheSeatof · 08/12/2020 22:57

Yes @Blondeshavemorefun I'm thinking of the policeman from the little town where the care home is, the one who found the secret room downstairs. If that's the policeman you mean. I dont know what Lurch looks like.

FlyingByTheSeatof · 08/12/2020 22:59

The older policeman who looks like Lurch (just googled it) if it's who you mean and I mean (Magnus / Maggie) I think he killed Gummi and covered up all the abuse.

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/12/2020 23:51

I’m so rubbish with names

I thoight the gay brother policeman

But then thought was too young

Def a copper tho imo

OP posts:
DuncinToffee · 09/12/2020 08:13

The policeman who found the room is too young, he found the room by using building plans.

The police chef, Maggi (Magnus) is involved with the abuse and cover up as is I think the guy who wrote te report.

I suspected these two from the beginning but I think that is because of Hinterland.

MotherForker · 09/12/2020 10:55

Magnus has massive ears. The police officer above him is bald.

MotherForker · 09/12/2020 10:56

Magnus:

ageingdisgracefully · 10/12/2020 09:11

I think Magnus is involved as well. I think there's something fishy in the way he commissioned the Norwegian detective to join the case.

I wish I could remember bloody names....

notacooldad · 10/12/2020 10:27

I thought Magnus is definitely involved because he wrote the report up about the home and got the now retired and in a nursing home policeman to sign it. The retired cop didn't investigate. On the last minute when being questioned he gave the name up. I've got that right haven't I?🤔

DuncinToffee · 10/12/2020 11:11

You have got that right notacooldad Smile

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/12/2020 18:03

Yes seems maggi aka Magnus is def guilty of something

OP posts:
ageingdisgracefully · 12/12/2020 22:34

That was quite good on the end, IMHO.

Spiral is coming back in the New Year. Yay. Smile

Halsall · 12/12/2020 23:08

Yes.....it was better than I expected overall, despite some pretty predictable plot points.

Hurrah for Spiral. I'm going to go back to the beginning, I think - I only properly got into it in the last series.

I don't think it was on this thread but possibly another elsewhere on MN that someone recommended The Truth Will Out on All 4. It's Swedish and DH and I are really enjoying it. The lead actor won the Swedish equivalent of an Emmy for his haunted, melancholic performance, and on googling him I discovered that he's a massively famous comedian. I can only imagine it's a bit like watching Bob Mortimer starring in Line of Duty Grin Good, though.

2Rebecca · 12/12/2020 23:13

It was quite silly the way a doped up female pc jumps/ dives in to a calm harbour and magically brings up and rescues the other pc who was no where to be seen in the harbour. Otherwise good apart from the usual wondering why she didn't turn the lights on in the prosecutor's house when she realised she'd been doped and everything was suddenly dark. I wouldn't be going up his stairs.

FlyingByTheSeatof · 13/12/2020 00:04

I literally just discovered Spiral seconds after Valhalla finished. I've never seen or heard of it before so am pleased to see it mentioned here. I love a good french drama.

I wish though they had done a recap at the beginning of Valhalla as I could barely remember what happened previously to whom and by whom.

Yeah - only minutes before she was stumbling around like a drunk but she has no trouble rescuing an injured man in freezing cold dark waters!

But yes, these were the best two episodes, though I remained confused by all the male characters! The story about Arnar's weird religious family seemed to go nowhere. Did he kill his BIL or just injure him? And was Magnus actually involved in abusing the boys, or did he just accept money to cover it up? It wasn't clear to me.

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 13/12/2020 10:04

If Kata has the same cut/symbol on her arm as the other victimes did that mean she'd been abused too (when drugged)?

Also, I thought I'd been paying attention but where did Ragnor/Ragna fit in? He looked as if he'd taken a beating so had someone tried to murder him?

And had the State Prosecutor committed all the murders?

I think Magnus had accepted a bribe to sort out his money troubles but not sure if he wasn't also procuring boys for the State Prosecutor?
