I'm a bit worried we'll run out the other thread tonight, and it'll be too fast-paced for me to get a new one going during the show, so I'm getting prepared early!

I don't think it's the quite the same though.

Coppélia is a story that's being told — ballet is the medium.

Maisie is being judged on dancing a cha cha — the story needs to fit within that. Saying "portray a day in the life of Barbie and Ken when he gets fed up of her social media addiction, by dancing a cha cha" is doing it the wrong way around.

They dressed a 19 year old up to look like a blow up doll with bunches. And put the pro in ridiculous shorts!

Does anyone think they may keep Anton til the end of the season? It would be good to have 4 judges again, especially for the dance off. I suppose it sets up problems for next season though.

We commented that it didn't really fit with Mattel's current advertising of Barbie the vet/astrophysicist/palaeontologist!

I couldn't look away from them! All I could think was that Spaniards tend to take great pride in their appearance, and so Gorka must have been SEETHING! Grin

Finally caught up with the thread. Didn’t expect Maisie in the dance off just yet, usually it’s after Blackpool that the ringers have to be kept in by the judges. She danced well but it was a terrible theme/ costume. I think Caroline suffers because she people expect her to be like her most famous characters but she isn’t- fair enough she’s an actress. She does take herself a bit seriously though, she should embrace the luvviness more! Probably in the dance off next week? Can’t see the CCC suiting her. I’m also getting a bit fed up with JJ’s military theming but can see why they needed it for the jive, it wasn’t his dance was it! Going against the grain again, (previously to say I’m not keen on Jamie), I’m not particularly looking forward to Ranvir & Gio’s AT, she seemed really self conscious this week and I think she will be worse next week. I like her though so hope I’m wrong. Seems a shame Max went but I didn’t get the feeling he was enjoying it that much. Think JJ & Caroline will be next 2 out or (hopefully) Jamie.

I'm hoping this will be the case tbh, I think 3 scores are a bit weird, and I'm not sure I can see Bruno coming back, I think this has given him an 'out'.

Totally agree.

This is maybe harsh but Max, Maisie and HRVY don’t really have a personality between them. Is it a generational thing of being careful in the public eye as they are all still young and at the start of their careers?

I honestly wouldn’t blame them if it was. Look at the stick Caroline and Maisie are getting for not ‘contestant-ing’ in the ‘right’ way.

If I ever found myself in the public eye I’d tiptoe on eggshells every waking minute. Say the wrong thing, or even just be suspected of thinking the wrong thing, and you’re ripped to shreds.

Max is in his 30s and the Wanted were a pretty successful band some years ago so I’d say he’s in career revival mode rather than career launching!

I agree with Voodo about the ringahs V newby celebrities. The judges obviously do too because they tend to like to see the "journey' even if it's from someone who only danced in a club. I think the Beeb has the balance right actually.

I don’t think it’s true that the young ones don’t have much personality. Max was just shy, but Hrvy seems engaged and responsive in conversation - if that’s the right word for the fairly inane exchanges you tend to get on SCD - ditto Maisie. If either of them were too chatty they’d probably be accused of hogging the spotlight.

Motsi said on R2 this morning that she would have voted to keep Max in, so if she'd not been isolating then Max would have still been in, as Maisie would only have had Craig's vote.
