SCD '20 #6: Have no fear, Judge Anton's here!

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 14/11/2020 17:18

I'm a bit worried we'll run out the other thread tonight, and it'll be too fast-paced for me to get a new one going during the show, so I'm getting prepared early!

Feel free to place mark or watch this thread, but head back to the previous thread for the moment, and we can move across later. Glitterball

I really hope Bill gets a proper ballroom dance this week.

MrsDoctorDear · 15/11/2020 17:36

I think CQ looks a bag of nerves. She is getting more nervous every week because her scores aren't shooting up like the other couples. So it's like she's put too much pressure on herself before she even starts.

Loved Anton, especially slagging off the cha cha/samba? He knows he's crap at Latin and he does it because he has to.
Much prefer him to big decibel Motsi.

Clara has improved loads. Her first two weeks she couldn't talk afterwards, just panting like mad. She's definitely picked up stamina.

JJ will get the public vote this week. I think Max and Caroline in the DO and Max to go. Ranvir will get the morning telly voters hopefully.

IntermittentParps · 15/11/2020 17:44

I thought JJ was a bit rubbish. I do like him and Amy but he was planky. Sorry JJ.
Hrvy I just didn’t get. Mainly Janette flittered around him and he stood still. When he did dance I thought it was very unmusical and square.
Caroline always dances the same way and at the same speed. Seriously boring. And she has a face like a wet weekend all the time. Johannes seems so flat. I don’t think they get on.
Max is just dull. I genuinely can’t think of anything to say about him.
Maisie’s dance was baffling. I didn’t get the concept. Was she a doll all the way through? I couldn’t tell. And Gorka didn’t always seem to be a doll. The actual dancing wasn’t great either for my money.
Jamie is so enthusiastic and clearly loves it, which I love him for. Great routine, fab song.
Ranvir looked a little bit like she was thinking her way through it, but did well and I loved the song and the routine.
Bill was EPIC. So musical. So characterful. He and Oti are a joy.
Clara was amazing. Loved the dance, the song, her outfit, hair, earrings, everything. Feel like she’s finally arrived. Hope she stays in and gets something barnstorming like a samba next week.

the80sweregreat · 15/11/2020 17:45

Bill needs to do ballroom or he might be in trouble next week as people will notice they are only playing to his strengths! I think he'll be ok at it though. His light on his feet and Oti is a good teacher.
Does anyone know what he'll be doing?

TheSmallClangerWhistlesAgain · 15/11/2020 17:46

The aesthetic and idea behind Maisie and Gorka's dance reminded me of this Postmodern Jukebox video:

I loved seeing Clara get some proper, classic choreography to get into.

iklboogeymum · 15/11/2020 17:54

Though she’s nowhere near as bad as Karim last year with his incessant camera hogging

Oh gods yes. I half expected him to pop out of my friend's foof as she was giving birth - just to upstage the baby.

the80sweregreat · 15/11/2020 17:57

I can see Clara making the final.

stillsomewhatsheldonesque · 15/11/2020 18:06

Jazz hands first iklboo? Grin

iklboogeymum · 15/11/2020 18:10

Oh definitely Sheldon - and big fake gurny smile. I'm glad I didn't have a swear box when he was on. I'd have been in the poor house.

stillsomewhatsheldonesque · 15/11/2020 18:13

You and me both.

We could have been scrubbing stone flags together side by side...

Girning not gurning Grin

Lalalalalala Lalalalalala Lalalalalala

Frequentflier · 15/11/2020 18:20

Really hope it's not Maisie. Always think confident young women who are great dancers- Alexandra Burke, Ashley Roberts- get such a bad time on Strictly. Confident men, on the other hand..

IntermittentParps · 15/11/2020 18:20

Maybe Ranvir? I do hope not though.

GrouchyKiwi · 15/11/2020 18:21

That waltz video was beautiful, and the rumba with Shirley was like intruding on a private moment.

stillsomewhatsheldonesque · 15/11/2020 18:27

Guilty as charged frequent but I wasn’t fond of Karim either.

It isn’t that I dislike THEM. I feel or felt nothing when they danced. I could appreciate the skill but I kind of switch off when they are brilliant straight away.

That said, she doesn’t deserve to go yet. I still feel nowt when I watch her though.

Well I suppose anyone could be a shock exit at this stage as they're all much of a muchness.

The only REAL shock exit would be Bill and I'd bet a thousand quid he's final 3.

stillsomewhatsheldonesque · 15/11/2020 18:32
Angry
peachypetite · 15/11/2020 18:33

@ElspethFlashman I disagree!

GrouchyKiwi · 15/11/2020 18:35

lynsey We try to keep this thread any kind of spoiler free because it's not fair to those of us who like to find out the result in real time. Guesses are fine.

Aleesha Dixon and Stacy Dooley did ok.

Maireas · 15/11/2020 18:48

I don't think Alexandra and Ashley had a bad time! I thought they did well.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 15/11/2020 18:49

Perhaps it's just in comparison to the last two weeks where the bottom two on the leaderboard have been in the dance off and the bottom one has gone home?

I quite like it when there's a leaderboard plunge — it makes it feel like viewers' votes are making a difference! (Unless it's somebody I like of course, then I reserve the right to sulk and complain.)

Well it was hardly revealing anything was it? For goodness sake I think any of them really could be regarded as a shock exit.

I will be watching in real time. Other years I have always looked at the result but have decided not to this year.

I still have no idea who it is likely to be so no way has that ruined it for anyone.

Even JJ, who was bottom of the leader board, would be a shock to me as I would think he would get a lot of votes. Caroline would be a shock as would Maisy, Ranvir, Clara, Harvey, Bill, Jamie.

Just because the papers say it is a shock exit doesn't mean it is likely to be a shock to anyone else
