BigBadVoodooHat yes 'garish' is the right word. She's got a great look, and they aren't making the most of it.

She’s absolutely stunning, and has a cool, sassy personality that’s refreshing among the gushing and over-emoting of certain others. She and Alijaz should be an uber cool, ultra beautiful couple, but sadly they’re being overlooked

Think Nicola might be the contestant who keeps landing in bottom two and gets saved by the judges. I can see them keeping her in over Max and Harvey and Jamie, and JJ. They need her in the show.

Clara should be back on Latin next week which might give her a boost.

Nicola is probably due ballroom too, but I don't know yet whether that will help her or not.

Actually I can even see them keeping Nicola in over Clara, because Shirley has taken against her and is head judge.

Surely Nicola just needs to be the man and lead? Going to be a bit silly otherwise as she wont be able to do any ballroom.

I think if Katya can’t choreograph well for a same sex pairing then who will be able to?

Do they get any say in music or dance?

Not anymore, and certainly not as much as they did in the early series.

An friend of a friend was a contestant fairly recently. At one point they refused what they believed would be a dreadful theme/costume/song, but it took a hell of a battle and their pro had to fight hard against it. The crappy theme was apparently later done by someone else, who presumably was more amenable and/or had a less determined (or less interested) pro.

Sadly I don’t know any more about it as he wouldn’t give much detail away. I’ve tried to work out what it was on the basis of what awful themes came up later in that series but there are several contenders.

But yeah, the impression he (discreetly) gave was that you don’t get much say in stuff. Though I’d guess if your casting is viewed as something of a coup you’d be allowed more autonomy.

Surely the awful shoe horning of dances to "themes" and awful music is another reason to go back to broadly the same couple of dances each week. Movies week and it musicals week would be ideal for the American smooth and whatever the Latin equivalent is rather than trying to wedge in dances that need specialist music to total and utterly inappropriate music.

I'd guess Amy — she owns a dance school with her fiancé, and I would think teaches some junior girl/girl couples.

I went looking to see if she'd ever had a girl partner, but it doesn't look like it. Here's little Amy though, and can you guess who's in the pink dress?

jambeforeclottedcream. I can't see one. I enjoyed most of the programme, but have views on some of it too. Not derailing the dancing though!

Yes, indeed. I’m pretty sure there were a number of ‘choices’ last night that very definitely were not choices that would have been made by the celebs/pros if they’d had any say in it whatsoever.
