Last thread here, but it was never going to last for tonight!

@DigOutThoseLemonHandWipes

Or maybe ' If I were a Rich Tea' from Fiddler on the Roof

Maireas · 02/11/2020 19:34

Caroline seemed very relaxed and friendly on ITT, so all is well. Jaqui and Anton were lovely, she absolutely had the right attitude!

iklboogeymum · 02/11/2020 19:45

Good point, Schaden. I noticed the Anton du Beke "novels" were on special offer in my local discount bookstore.

Handy if everyone panic buys loo roll again.

Maireas · 02/11/2020 19:48

Naughty!!!! 😂

I heard he’s doing ‘Oh What A Beautiful Morning Coffee’ from Oklahoma! (can you still get morning coffee biscuits?)

From Fig Roll on the Roof, surely.

I think BVB is suffering from his MIC past surely? I can’t bring myself to like him, his 'charm' is too practised and polished.

I also am not a fan of No Vowels - there’s also something a bit false about his manner to me. But I like his dancing so I won’t be sad if other people keep voting for him for a bit.

I really like Maisie! And the fact she’s giving Gorka a chance to really show off.

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 02/11/2020 22:44

Thursday
I like Maisie too, although I didn’t think I would to begin with. She’s been criticised for folding her arms in front of the judges, but could be because she’s terrified of being too touchy-feely with Gorka, him with a young child and a former SCD partner and all.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 02/11/2020 23:51

I can't even begin to imagine the levels of eyes, teeth and tits we're going to get in Caroline's musical theatre routine.

OP posts:
Maireas · 03/11/2020 05:11

Maisie can't have concerns about being touchy freely with Gorka, surely? As a dance partner they are constantly in very close physical contact!

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 03/11/2020 06:28

Marieas
It’s different when they’re not dancing though isn’t it... you can usually tell who fancies who when they’re all over each other off the floor. When they’re dancing, the touching, smoking hot looks etc are just part of the performance.

Maireas · 03/11/2020 07:39

Oh I see what you mean. I thought you meant Covid, you meant the Strictly Curse!

ShirleyPhallus · 03/11/2020 08:40

I finally watched this and ageee with everyone’s comments

Nicola and Katya’s dance was just a bit shit. It reminded me of a performance that two very earnest 12 year olds might do if they were asked to make up a routine about their feelings or something

Could easily lose middle of the pack lot: JJ, Jason, Ranvir etc. Caroline does nothing for me either.

Loved Clara and can’t wait to see what else she does. Maisie is beautiful to watch but yeah I hate her attitude. Bill a total joy.

Just to discuss bums for a moment. Aliajz seemed to have a very sticky out bum this week, as Pasha used to as well. I feel like the judges always pick up celebs for this but some of the male pros actually dance like that?!

ShirleyPhallus · 03/11/2020 08:41

Also I found the singing particularly awful this week. All the songs were sung in a key waaaayyyy too high for the singers and sounded like a bag of cats being bashed against a wall

ShirleyPhallus · 03/11/2020 08:49

Oh and last thought: Luba is like Ola Jordan reincarnated. Lots of distraction dancing in a sexy way while Jason shimmied behind her. He also kept looking at her and smiling while she was pouting away at the camera.

Not a huge fan of hers.

Agree that Katya and Nicola’s dance was shit. Totally underwhelming

I enjoyed Bill and Oti’s dance. I think that Bill is loving the whole experience, but is trying to act cool .

Thought that Clara was under marked. She has a lot of potential

Not feeling Luba as a teacher tbh. I think that Nadiya would have suited Jason.
Jason is lovely, but his hip action was non existent.

Caroline needs to relax

ppeatfruit · 03/11/2020 09:27

Yes I really liked Luba and Neil's demo dances last year, but this year, with an amateur, she seems like she can't really be bothered to teach the moves of the dance to Jason properly (who's like a little panting puppy waiting for treats around her) Aaaah

chillied · 03/11/2020 10:55

I didn't read anything into Maisie's crossed arms, sometimes that's just more comfortable as a way of standing - possibly if you're also trying to stop looking like you're breathing hard after exercise? Anyway I didn't read it as bolshy.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 03/11/2020 13:03

Shirley I think Aljaž might just have a peachy bum (and very tight trousers on Saturday!). It isn't really about your bum sticking out, it's about flattening your back.

Try to get your pelvic bones as far away from the bottom of your ribs as you can — you'll have strongly curved the bottom of your spine, your pelvis has tilted back, and your bottom sticks out.

Now do the opposite — bring your pelvis forwards as if you were trying to touch the bottom of your ribs, then leave it there and lift your rib cage up as if your tummy were an accordian. Now your back is flat and your pelvis is tucked up and under. You'll have a flat back, and less bum showing.

The second one is what you want for ballroom.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 03/11/2020 13:08

(Alternatively, men can think of it as I once heard somebody try to explain it to a group of beginner boys at university — "imagine you're trying to stick the end of your you-know-what into your tummy button". And I have never been able to forget it.)

ppeatfruit · 03/11/2020 13:25

Grin Polka I don't know if you did ballet training. That tucked under bum thing was definitely expected when you do plies etc. (well when I did it anyway). maybe the lads didn't begin with ballet.

Karmalou · 03/11/2020 13:40

Did anybody pick up on Zoe last night saying that Johannes has a pretty big role in the group dance this week?
As it’s Musicals Week, is anybody else really, reaaaaally hoping it’s the finale to ‘Kinky Boots’?

I'm as jealous as hell the people are able to think of biscuit related tunes.

I have been trying and trying, and can't think of a single one (I'm usually fairly good at idiocies like that, too).

Spreadingchestnut · 03/11/2020 14:00

ppeatfruit and polka I did ballet classes in the E.Mids in the 70s. The teacher used to walk around as we practised our pliés shouting "no more ducks bottoms!".

SequinsandStiIettos · 03/11/2020 14:08

Artem looking good with a jive this week.
