Grin Raahh yes why don’t they just give Sonego some credit!

He’s got a double break now - come on!

Fizzy from what I can see, Sonego is playing really well, he has thrown Djok a bit. he doesn't like not being able to play his own game.

'mounting the comeback'.

Oh do sod off.

I get the feeling Djok is throwing this.

He came to gain points, because he couldn't in Paris. He has made sure, that whatever happens, Rafa cannot get to year end number 1. So, job done.

But I'm a cynic.

But take nothing from Sonego, who played really well.

'biggest shock of the decade??' It's a 500 tournament that he played for points- don't get too excited!

Sascha has really handled his off court life very badly. He clearly thinks with his dick.
Roger/Rafa and Andy are wise to the pitfalls of the ‘temptations’ of the tour. Player parties in every city, with the local model agencies invited to send as many of their clients as possible, plus the PR industry surrounding the tour.
I remember Roger saying, very early on in his career, that he never goes to the social things on his own. If Mirka is not with him, then his dad, or Seve, or Tony Godsick will accompany. Roger is friendly and social, but he is not a fool for a pretty face, and his reputation is worth so much more than a quick fling, ditto Rafa and Andy.
It’s welll known that Djok cheated on his wife not long after they were married, when he retired from Wimbledon citing ‘personal issues’.
Sascha got the money early, ahead of winning a Slam or even getting past a quarter final at one stage.
He wasn’t taking his tennis seriously because the money came so quick from off court deals. The latest model was good for Instagram pages and his ‘image’.
Brenda has made it clear she doesn’t want him sharing custody. I think they parted on bad terms, not long after the covid scandals and them partying in Monaco. I guess someone had a serious word with Sascha and lo and behold focussing on tennis gets him to his first Slam Final.
As for the ex who has accused him of assault, who knows?
Sadly for all involved this will have long lasting effects.

Djokovic is such a poor example as world no 1. Medical Time Outs when he is losing, not making ‘best effort’ in matches like today, this tournament very cynically played for points.
His true, angry, persona leaking out from beneath the facade...
I hope Rafa wins Paris Bercy and the O2, in fact, I’d like another Next Gen winner in London, although it looks as if Tsitsipas was carrying an injury when he lost to Dimitrov yesterday?

Science Sascha really needs some good guidance through all this. It could get messy.

I really want Rafa to win in London- it's the 'big' title he doesn't have, ditto Paris. It's a big ask- he has always been on the back foot when it comes to winning in Paris/ London, as it is by far his weakest surface, and the one that benefits both Roger and Djok the most. Last year, he was unlucky- he played the best I've seen him play there for ages- his come back against Medvedev was incredible.

YY, it seems Tsits may have been injured- and they said that possibly Thiem was too.

I wouldn't mind Medvedev winning in London- I really hope Rublev qualifies- he deserves to, having won so much this year.

Didn't get to see Djok as I was coming back from my dad's. Very happy to see the result.

Am now watching Dan and Barry Cowan was talking about Cock's press conference, where it seems he confirmed he was happy with securing the no1 spot and not unhappy with today's result Hmm

Raahh · 30/10/2020 19:11

kazza funny that, eh, almost like he had indeed done the maths and realised it didn't matter anyway. Hmm.

Yes Raahh
Funnily enough, I was reading your earlier comments about it when they started talking about it.

And it is totally disrespectful, since Sonego did play really well.

Watching Rublev /Anderson- I'm a big fan of Kevin, so I hope he is not too injured, he has been on the come back trail recently and dong really well.

That said, I would really lile to see Rublev do well.

Easily pleased by this match, really.Would like both to win- but it looks like Anderson is injured.

The Evans/Sonego match- I want Sonego to win, mainly so that there will be none of the 'oh the Djok thing was a fluke then/Djok was having an off day'. You can guarantee that will be the case , if he loses.

It's a good job Sonego is playing Dan and not Rafa today Raahh otherwise your argument for him winning would not sit well.
I'm playing devil's advocate Grin

I don't think it will come as any surprise that I hope Dan has an easy straight sets win Grin

I'm going to nab viewing rights for the second semi, as DH will be watching all three Six Nations matches otherwise Hmm

kazza Grin

I have warmed to Top Player Dan, and his Tesco t-shirts, this year. I don't actually mind if he wins, but for Sonego's sake, it would be better if he didn't Grin.

It’s rugby here unfortunately - maybe I’ll get to see a bit of the Dan/Sonego match later. I’d quite like to see Dan do well.

Raahh it’s as if you can read Djok’s mind - spooky! Halloween Grin It is pretty disrespectful if he didn’t really try in that match because it didn’t really matter for him

Some interesting points there Science - back in the day tennis players were more playboy type figures compared to the more family orientated players now like Roger, Rafa and Andy.

Not looking forward to the announcement from Boris (PM Boris) later Halloween Hmm

Raahh · 31/10/2020 15:28

Fizzy I would much prefer an announcement from Our Boris.

Oh no- Dan is having a time out now. Poor Kevin had to retire from his match.
