Oh I’d forgotten about the trophy Grin

JaneJeffer · 08/11/2020 16:23

Well done Daniil.

Hand sanitizer chat Grin

JaneJeffer · 08/11/2020 16:29

Drown them in sanitiser Grin

I forgot the trophy has the names of everyone in the draw on it - that's a nice touch.

JaneJeffer · 08/11/2020 16:31

I'm mentally adding fairy lights to the tree.

Raahh · 08/11/2020 16:32

Private if you had been listening to Greg over the last couple of days, you would not have been allowed to forget that fact (and the fact he won it 22 years ago)- they keep going on about it Grin).

it's a very stunning trophy. Far nicer than the ugly vase. Grin.

Raahh · 08/11/2020 16:33

Even without a crowd, they are not going to stop Sascha doing a long speech. Grin

JaneJeffer · 08/11/2020 16:35

I was hoping they'd both speak Russian.

JaneJeffer · 08/11/2020 16:38

Fantasy football Grin he'd fit in well in this house!

Raahh · 08/11/2020 16:38
Grin My Russian is rusty, but that would have been cool!
PrivateSpidey · 08/11/2020 17:03

Yes I noticed they got in a mention of Greg's win Grin

I think Tim won it too iirc?!

Raahh · 08/11/2020 17:12

Yes, Tim won it a few years later.

But I think Greg is smug because he beat Sampras- and Tim beat Andrei Pavel. Grin

Raahh · 08/11/2020 17:14

(Tim beat a few other people to get there, obviously- including Roddick and Kuerten , though) Grin.

Oh- and Federer!

PrivateSpidey · 08/11/2020 17:45
Grin I also noticed Greg mentioned it was a best of five sets final in those days as well. These youngsters have got it so easy!!
Raahh · 08/11/2020 17:52

Don't know they are born, do they? Grin

I can't believe it's nearly London, actually. I ended up in hospital with kidney stones, the weekend before, and spent the day there for tests during it- it was the day of Rafa's big comeback against Daniil. I could have done without the extra stressGrin.

Fizzywinegum · 11/11/2020 16:23

Hope that everyone’s ok - it’s been very quiet on here Smile

It’s the draw for the WTFs tomorrow - when I google WTFs it brings up a site called ‘wtf should I do with my life’ - quite apt really Grin

Hopefully looking forward to watching some good tennis - hope it’s not too weird without any crowd. I thought Paris a bit weird - all those flashing lights and no one (apart from the players) to see them Hmm

kazzaD66 · 11/11/2020 16:55

Grin Fizzy
Well, we've commented many times on here that they really should have thought about it a bit more when they named it!
WTF indeed Grin

PrivateSpidey · 11/11/2020 17:56

wtf should I do with my life
Grin

Yes the draw's tomorrow isn't it - I'd thought it was today until I realised today was actually Wednesday Hmm

It was weird having the lights/announcements etc in Paris
I'm sure they'll have them at the O2, I'll be shocked if they don't!!

Hope everyone is doing ok.

JaneJeffer · 11/11/2020 22:23

I won't visit that website because then I might actually have to do something with my life.

OP posts:
Raahh · 12/11/2020 12:57

All the days are merging into one.

I get confused everyweek, because for some reason I always think Bake Off is on on a Wednesday.

I don't think it has ^ever' been on on a Wednesday.

So I spend the week, one day ahead of myself.

I am looking forward to the WTFs Grin Not looking forward to the return of smug Djok though.

The lights and music in Paris were really odd- so loud, and there was always a huge announcement - and then....tumbleweed. Just strange Grin.

JaneJeffer · 12/11/2020 13:18

I have the whole house to myself today and it seems very strange!

Raahh · 12/11/2020 13:25

Jane I can only dream of that!

DD1 is now at home on her 4th lot of isolation (sent home Tuesday, got a call yeserday to say she was a 'close contact' and is off til next Friday). There are no live lessons, because only some of the pupils are off.

She only went back from the last 2 week stint last Wednesday.
At this rate- she will end up isolating over Christmas.
It's not just the schools that are the problem- it's the fact we don't know what the families of the 300 + kids are up to in the 'school' bubbles. I know where I've been nowhere- but I can't say the same for everyone else.

I'm fed up today. Sad.

Raahh · 12/11/2020 17:14

So the groups are out for London

Group Tokyo 1970
Novak Djokovic
Daniil Medvedev
Alexander Zverev
Diego Schwartzman

Group London 2020
Rafael Nadal
Dominic Thiem
Stefanos Tsitsipas
Andrey Rublev

I can't workout whether this has worked out well for Rafa or not. I think it is one of the strongest fields for a few years- he has avoided Sascha who has tripped him up twice now in the last two meetings, Daniil is probably a bifmg favourite for the title after his performance in Paris

But Thiem has improved indoors, and Diego has a win over him this year. Rublev has had a great year - I dont think they have played each other? Stef is not looking as strong coming into this as he was last year.

But things don't always go to plan at the tour finals ( unless you are Fed or DjokGrin).

I'd love Rafa to win, but 'anyone but Djok' is my second favourite. Grin

JaneJeffer · 12/11/2020 17:26

I always find the round robin format hard to follow so I'll be relying on you Raahh to understand what's happening Grin
