I cry at bloody everything these days.
The moglets take the mick something rotten!

We liked Maisie, Caroline and Harvey the best this week. Let’s see how’s they do with different styles.

Jacqui the weakest, but have seen far worse on previous series.

Claudia’s Dress was gorgeous. Motsi otoh looked as if she had lost her outfit and had to come in her dressing gown.

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 25/10/2020 18:01

I’m also a massive weeper - once we get to the last few weeks of the competition I’m constantly snivelling - when they dance, when they’re surprised by their families, when they’re kicked off - so I do get how easy it is to get emosh on the show... I just don’t like it when I get the feeling the crying’s disingenuous.
I’m not saying it is with CQ; let’s give her the benefit of the doubt for now- but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a ruse, that’s all.

Same here but I was always the lachrymose type - I remember crying when Bucks Fizz won Eurovision GrinGrinBlush
iklboo · 25/10/2020 19:10

When Rob Beckett won the Double Top Prize for mental health charity I couldn't speak to DH for about 10 minutes for sobbing. Snot & everything.

I go away for a bit and come back to find squabbling - no way Jose - we agree to disagree on here but save our wrath for spoiler-ers, surely?! Throws Brew Cake Wine Chocolate at the thread.
Ore got flak for crying, Susan swerved flak when crying by taking the piss out of herself (along the lines of ''doing an Ore'' iirc), Caroline is probably getting a bit more flak than usual as she seems the polar opposite of the character Dorothy she is well-known for.
Yes, swallowing your feelings is unhealthy but the Brits are funny as a nation aren't we? [Cue Patricia Hodge in Miranda: ''We aren't Spanish!''] Stiff upper lip and all that...then when the floodgates open, like they did with Princess Di, it all seems a bit toe-curling for some looking back. Why hasn't she done Strictly?
I cry at owt me - Dogwarz, Nanwarz, Babywarz...the whole works and were I ever to be on Strictly Mum Dancing - wearing blue with arm hankies, doing a Viennese with Jojo or Tony Beak to Caribbean Blue then shouting I'm a Derry Girl! from the balcony - you can bet your bottom dollar I'd be in floods all night and voted out .
Monkseal would have had a field day (echoes of touching the divine in week ONE!)
Kai is indeed from DWTS Ireland and I thought they had him dancing a bit with Johannes in the group number, sneaking in some male same sex dancing without it being a big deal, which I applauded. Jojo was the bizz in that routine. I like him because I saw some of his routines in the DWTS S.Africa version (he won one series iirc) and he just seems freer and happier over here. I want him in tails though - he looks lovely all suited up.
I do feel a bit sorry for all twelve this year just because ones who would have made it to Halloween normally, will have a much shorter stay and the marks being out of 30 seem so much lower but a) they're all getting paid and b) even 14/30 isn't bad when you look at lower scores of past: Tony Beak's expecting to go early though - hence his hopes for Jacqui to enjoy every minute - early boot's written all over her and the Fantons won't muster enough votes unless someone else is deemed so safe there's complacency. Her and Jason's youtube views are the lowest if that counts for anything whereas NVWLS stands at 232k views.
Let's hope that Janette doesn't mess up ballroom this year. I'd like to see her choreo a showdance. She performed Oti's freestyle on tour masterfully and has gone up in my estimations a lot - both how positive she is and how good she was with Will and how she spoke about Caroline. She gets some flak on other fora (cough Digital Spy cough) but I like her a lot. Loved her with Ranj.
Have a good week everybody

Iklboo totally a snot-worthy moment!

Schadenfreude - I know, I know..Grin Years ago I went to see 'Shine' at the cinema and let out such a huge sob when Noah Taylor's Dad puts the phone down on him that the whole audience turned round to stare! Blush

I might have to have a little cry at Joe Varney's hair if they keep messing with it - are they trying to knobble him?? Angry

GrouchyKiwi · 25/10/2020 20:02

Am feeling a bit traumatised after DD1 just had a massive nosebleed (how does such a small person have so much blood?!) so I am glad to have some lovely posts in this thread to read.

I might have to have a little cry at Joe Varney's hair if they keep messing with it - are they trying to knobble him??
I don't know what they were thinking.

SequinsandStiIettos · 25/10/2020 20:14

The music on DWTS this week was worse than usual. Gleb and Artem are still in with a shout - routines on channel above - but neither worth posting. Derek Hough on the other hand...

SequinsandStiIettos · 25/10/2020 20:18

...and that's his girlfriend who nails the routine.

MabelChiltern1 · 25/10/2020 20:39

I loved the opening dance by the pros!!! So hot! Anyone else think it was a nod to the international dance scene in Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake?

MabelChiltern1 · 25/10/2020 21:16

Great post sequins...... yes, SCD is a many layered thing!

ThursdayLastWeek · 25/10/2020 21:48

Man, having a job and trying to squeeze in a social life before getting locked down again (I have the fear) is really messing with my strictly viewing.

I pretty much lived all of that, even the crap and cheesy stuff.

It’s just so strictly!

I will also say I don’t mind a ringah either, and thought Masie and fucking No Vowels were excellent!

I just watched the end of Saturday's. ref. Joe Varney's hair OMG it looks fantastic I LOVE IT , he's just let it grow, it takes years off him. Not a wig, he was running his hands through it and it stayed where it was!!

Enjoyed Janette's jive that boy without vowels was great too! I haven't read that the marking is out of 30 now , where was it said?

Its only out of 30 atm because they’ve only got 3 judges, will be back to 40 once Bruno gets back...?

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 26/10/2020 09:13

Tbh, I’d prefer Bruno not to be back Smile

Maireas · 26/10/2020 09:16

I agree, I think it's better without Bruno. Three judges are enough. I loved HRVY and JNTT, he's a good mover. Lots of potential from Maisie, Max and Clara. Good competition this year, I think.

ppeatfruit · 26/10/2020 09:17

Thanks Bluffin Oh of course silly me Blush I was hoping each judge could mark out of 30 ! That would be soo much better, to give 7s and above in the Ist show is crazy, Craig gave a 9 fgs. !!!!!

Elderflower14 · 26/10/2020 09:28

Don't think Craig did..... I thought Motsi or Shirley did??

ppeatfruit · 26/10/2020 09:34

No Elder He gave Mr.No vowels and Janette a 9 for their jive. Motsi and Shirley gave 8s I'm fairly certain I can check on my recording! They were top of the leader board.

I've not been on these threads before so maybe you all know this, but what happens to all the costumes? There must be thousands of them! Seems a huge waste if they just get thrown away.

Going by the costumes in the opening number on Saturday night I’d say they save, then bring them all out when they don’t have a better idea Smile

I'm sure someone with actual knowledge will come along in a moment with the right answer.. but I always presumed that they probably keep some of the 'best' and then the others are altered / taken apart to create new costumes? I would be very surprised if they all went to waste. I would think they'd repurpose bits from each.
