(And I'm going to hide this thread until Saturday now)

God there's always one isn't thereHmm
I loved it all
Felt like a tonic

bibliomania · 25/10/2020 10:59

Note 5 wardrobe: please step away from the white material. I don't care what kind of bargain bulky buy you got. The white trousers were not flattering on either Nicola or BVB (and the white shorts were no great shakes on his partner). Dianne looked like she feel headfirst into a laundry hamper, possibly in the same unfortunate accident that landed Motsi in a body cast.

awaynboilyurheid · 25/10/2020 11:01

Sometimes more than just the one! I loved it too

GraveyardPlotsAndDoomedScreams · 25/10/2020 11:28

Come back if you want to talk about ITT Soupy! Otherwise, see you next week. Halloween Smile

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 25/10/2020 11:41

@covetingthepreciousthings

Group number: Jojo and Kai

Whose Kai?

Kai Widdrington is a pro dancer on Irish DWTS, he's very sweet to his celebs and a lovely mover. The show isn't happening this year. It would normally start in January. It's not as enjoyable as Strictly, but I'll still miss it.
JamminDoughnuts · 25/10/2020 11:41

this time they are having to be in some form of bubble.
the virus has made a big deal to people's lives, no wonder CQ was crying.
the thank you to the NHS workers made me well up

ChessieFL · 25/10/2020 13:14

Correct me if I’m wrong, but Caroline didn’t cry on the show itself, it was just a shot of her crying in training? Is that right?

Don’t forget that there’s a week’s worth of training condensed into a minute of footage, and the BBC will choose what angle they want to show. For all we know they all cried at some point in training but they only chose to show Caroline crying.

She might well be over emotional and luvvie, but I prefer to take the edited footage with a pinch of salt particularly when it’s only week 1.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 25/10/2020 13:20

Caroline cried when the judges comments were kind. She was wiping the tears away as they were going up the stairs to the Claudatorium.

GrouchyKiwi · 25/10/2020 13:27

I saw her tears as the result of nerves. I often cry when I've been worried/anxious about something and then the thing is done (like holding a tarantula). And if someone is kind to you off the back of that it's nigh impossible to hold in tears, IME.

ChessieFL · 25/10/2020 13:35

Thanks BlackAmerican I missed that!

CounsellorTroi · 25/10/2020 14:48

@wowfudge

I thought the pp who said Motsi's dress looked like a plaster cast had it exactly right.
I thought it looked like it had been made out of a hotel bathrobe.
Maireas · 25/10/2020 15:06

Motsi is just stunning, isn't she? She always manages to look fabulous, although I do agree that the white dress wasn't great! I loved Claudia's, I thought it was very pretty.

Clawdy · 25/10/2020 15:20

@iklboo

People are being a bit harsh on Caroline aren't they? She just cried - nothing unusual about that on strictly

Yep. A couple of years ago everyone was gushing at 'Aw-img' at Ore Oduba bursting into tears like an overtired toddler every five minutes. God forbid a woman shows her emotions.

That's rubbish, Ore was slated on here for his weepy moments. Nothing to do with her being a woman.
SchadenfreudePersonified · 25/10/2020 15:31

First one out - Jackie and Anton

I hope so I can't stand her and am finding him increasingly irritating.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 25/10/2020 15:48

I thought it looked like it had been made out of a hotel bathrobe.

That's EXACTLY what I said to Mr Schaden!

1forAll74 · 25/10/2020 15:51

Caroline Quentin is annoying, very actressy and loud, and prone to being tearful. Her dancing was ok, but if she is always going to be tearful when the results come up, it will be a pain to watch her. Thankfully we had Bill Bailey to offset all this, he with the tight yellow wrinkly trousers. and swishy hair.

Theromanempire · 25/10/2020 15:53

I am now confused...I thought the contestants and pros were both living alone to be able to form a bubble between them (and certainly that is what Maisie said on the kick off show as she said it was the first time she had lived by herself). Yet in the papers today, there are photos of 2 of the celebs together with their partners (photos taken over this weekend) ConfusedConfused

So is it just the pros who are living solo to form a support bubble with the celeb and their families? If so, how come Maisie has moved out of her house?

Theromanempire · 25/10/2020 15:54

Sorry to clarify - the celebs have been photographed with their girlfriends (not dance partners) this weekend.

covetingthepreciousthings · 25/10/2020 15:57

@Theromanempire that's weird, I also thought that was the case. Unless they're breaking the rules..

covetingthepreciousthings · 25/10/2020 16:04

The first is the creation of Bubbles. Each couple has formed a support bubble. Meaning, one half of the bubble is a single adult household living alone, while the other half may remain with their household. This means they are permitted to have close contact with one another. The bubbles are exclusive and the couples are not able to form other bubbles with anyone else whilst they are in the competition.

www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/articles/2pzCYgJm5ZY0mKlQ9Z7BYvs/strictly-come-dancing-2020-covid-contingencies

Just found this, so presume this is why. I'm sure they said both celeb and pro where isolating from their households though.

DigOutThoseLemonHandWipes · 25/10/2020 16:04

At least one half of each pair is living alone - could be dancer could be celeb. In some cases both are living alone because they have moved nearer to the studio to reduce travel.

Theromanempire · 25/10/2020 16:20

Thank you - I assumed both halves of each couple were living alone. I will stop being outraged then GrinGrin

Impatiens · 25/10/2020 16:42

Re Caroline Quentin crying - I don't understand how this is at all controversial in relation to Strictly - it's part of the showbiz atmosphere, everyone's always in tears surely?? I am.

I decided to watch some of my fave scd dances today and can confirm that I cried my eyes out at Oti and Kelvin's samba because it's just immense. So stick that in yer judgemental pipes! Halloween Wink

Maireas · 25/10/2020 17:04

I was a bit teary watching JJ and Amy, I have to admit. Especially when his little girl came on!
