Checking in. Half of yesterday's bollox passed me by. At least there was an element of realism regarding Tracy's kidney & shielding. I'm still transfixed by Scott's hair Confused

FippertyGibbett · 01/09/2020 06:30

Presumably Scott is going to blackmail Jonny ?
And I’m a bit confused about the security guard. Cal was a security guard yes, but didn’t Scott beat up a bloke that was so something to do with when Carla had her breakdown ? Are they connected or not ?

eatsleepread · 01/09/2020 09:53

I'm watching recent episodes on catchup, while I took a break bingeing on Netflix.
There is so much fantastic drama out there, and the return to Corrie feels like eating burger after steak.

And they really need to get rid of creepy, weird Daniel.
The stakeout with Mary, Sean etc had me cringing.

Roussette · 01/09/2020 10:55

Oh and Jeff, you can't just enforce power of attorney when the other person still has their faculties!

To be fair, you can. We've given POA to our DCs, and I and DH are totally compos mentis! (There's a reason why, won't bore you with it!)

So if Geoff had made her sign the forms, it is something he could have. And there's two types... basically... Financial is one, Health is the other. If he's got the financial one, they're buggered!

Roussette · 01/09/2020 10:57

Agree, Daniel needs to go. And since when would Tracey be happy babysitting someone else's kid? She's too selfish for that!
I've never thought Daniel was a very good actor, and this prostitute cardi storyline is really ridiculous.
Where does he get £500 to keep shelling out for this??? He doesn't work does he?

That's only because the writers read these threads, I reckon, and we remind them about things like Tracy's kidney.

Scott's hair is as annoying as the rest of him. He's a tedious character, clumsily acted.

I'm actually really struggling with Corrie and the tedium at the moment. These threads are so much better than the programmes.

eggandonion · 01/09/2020 11:13

Daniel is working for Adam. Where does Adam live? If he gets the covid, he will have infected the Platt house, the Daniel house and the Barlow house. Plus his clients, whoever they are. If Cardi is infected by close contact to Adam and Daniel, oh dear me.

JamieLeeCurtains · 01/09/2020 11:22

@Roussette, do you remember though having to register the Power of Attorney with the Office of the Public Guardian, and the process taking some time? I might be wrong and misremembering, but I think it's not as straightforward as Geoff simply getting Yasmeen to 'sign the forms'. Also he has to keep separate accounts if he uses the PoA (which he can't do till it's fully registered), and a relative like Alya can ask the Office of the Public Guardian or the Court of Protection to examine said accounts if mischief is suspected.

There are many layers of protection with PoA to prevent precisely the sort of thing Geoff is supposedly up to.

Gawd, I've become a Corrie Misery Geek Grin

Roussette · 01/09/2020 12:06

@JamieLeeCurtains
Yes remember it all. The signing took forever because of having to have everything witnessed so Yasmeen would've had to have witnesses to this. And the signing and witnessing have to take a certain order. And to set up a POA you need something called a Sponsor, who can verify you are of sound mind and you know what you're doing and they have a lot to sign too.
So yes, clumsily put by me, it is more than sign a few forms ... I just wanted to say that you don't have to be without your faculties to have a POA, in fact if that happens, it's too late.

We started the process in January, then covid happened, so it took a long time, far longer than normal, I think in normal circs, it would take a couple of months. God knows who Geoff got as witnesses!

Roussette · 01/09/2020 12:08

And yes... meant to say, Aliya can very easily dispute all this with the OPG, but do Corrie bother with details like this when there's a story to be had?!

Deadringer · 01/09/2020 12:19

No doubt Geoff will knock up some fake paperwork and it won't occur to Aliya to run it past the legal eagles next door, instead there will be lots of eye rolling, teeth gnashing, and hair flicking.

JamieLeeCurtains · 01/09/2020 12:21

Thanks, @Roussette, you have justified my inner bureaucratic rage to me Grin

What with the PoA and the alcohol licence in the same scene, I've gone a bit frothy.

JamieLeeCurtains · 01/09/2020 12:27

Probably. And not even ask Yasmeen's friend the former Councillor Sally Metcalfe about any of it.

It's so tedious, especially as even Alya would know, if the plot were barely credible, that dealing with the Council about anything takes a lot of time and paperwork.

Roussette · 01/09/2020 12:27

Hehe... the POA will be used no doubt... to extend the Yasmeen/Geoff storyline which is going on forever.

As for the alcohol licence... with covid it could well take months to get one! but not in corrie land

Redshoeblueshoe · 01/09/2020 21:10

This thread is far better than Corrie.

Izzy24 · 01/09/2020 21:25

Yes it is.

I don’t even watch it any more.

Izzy24 · 01/09/2020 21:25

Or Emmerdale.

ColonelNobbyNobbs · 01/09/2020 21:34

eggandonion Adam’s left Sarah but I don’t know where he lives now! I thought maybe he’d gone back with Daniel as he just let himself in?

eggandonion · 01/09/2020 22:06

I think Adam needs a nice house, he's a solicitor. He can't live with Daniel. His flat is tiny.

eatsleepread · 01/09/2020 22:49

And completely cluttered. I'd go mental living there.

eggandonion · 01/09/2020 23:34

Surely there must be another old industrial building that could be converted to house Adam and imran and Dr Ali who needs to return soon.

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 01/09/2020 23:43

@eggandonion

He'll have to come and live with me. It's the only solution. I'll even tidy up for him. I'm selfless like that. I don't have a spare room, but I'm so generous I'll suffer sharing a bed with him. Grin
MonkeyToesOfDoom · 01/09/2020 23:59

I hope you have room in the bathroom cabinet for all his hair product and beard oil and perfumes and potions.

Well now I'm all hot and bothered thinking about Adam and Imran in a bachelor pad eating breakfast with not much on. Possibly one of them has just had a shower...

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 02/09/2020 00:13

@MonkeyToesOfDoom ill make room. The bathroom cabinet has approximately 3728738399383 cans of lynx in it currently Hmm
