Off to bed they went on their honeymoon, with a full face of makeup.

I was thinking the same! 😂

Now... I know we have only seen 2 weddings and the preview for the next one but, is it just me or are the weddings, venues, hotels, dresses etc. so far less sophisticated than in the last series?

BlogTheBlogger · 10/08/2020 22:00

Sarah is stunning isnt she!

Egghead68 · 10/08/2020 22:06

John’s back!

ZzzMarchhare · 10/08/2020 22:09

Anyone else seen the screensaver on catch up? Is John back with a new wife- replacement for Bonkers Deb?

LunchBoxPolice · 10/08/2020 22:12

Place marking for tomorrow. I told myself I wouldn’t sit through another series, but deep down I know I will.

SusansSassySidePony · 10/08/2020 22:14

Well, Mr SidePony watched the first ten minutes of Sarah's story with me then bailed, muttering about exploitative TV, it being emotionally damaging, and her being too vulnerable.
And all the reasons that made him bail, made me stay, hoping she gets her happy ever after.

LarkDescending · 10/08/2020 22:17

We have to wait until Episode 5 to see non-Polynesian John tie the knot with non-Deborah.

ellenanora5 · 10/08/2020 22:17

Wanders in to say just saw this for the first time, can I join in the thread pleeease, waves to Schadenfreude Smile

That friend was a right weirdo, I reckon he's in love with Dean, he was stalking them the whole time, and threatening to tell him about her daughter, he could be trouble.

I like Telv and Sarah

I never watched any Married at First Sight so no idea of the format, looking forward to it.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 10/08/2020 22:18

@LarkDescending

Yes Telv did say that re his Aboriginal heritage.
That's why I thought Debs might have found him an acceptable substitute for her Polynesian/Italian/Taxan/Canadian takeaway order groom.

This is from 2018 though. I was expecting a proper new series (sad)

Eaumyword · 10/08/2020 22:20

We always tune in a bit later to fast forward over the adverts (impatient!)
Love all the comments, especially thumbface!
We'd like to add the following thoughts -
The brothers - budget Krays
Both women - seem really emotionally fragile for this kind of situation. Hope they don't end up hurt.
Telv - really wasn't sure of him at first. Husband said now there's a bloke who can lift up the back of a truck, no problem. But his behaviour at the reception was quite endearing and he got past the Mitchell brothers, so...
Dean - reminded us of Nick sort of. Obviously liked what he saw and forgot to make eye, not boob contact. Plus the obligatory concerned (nosy) Tony Hadley mate.
The big question: when they go to bed on the first night, do the women remove their makeup or do they just keep it on to keep the 'illusion of gorgeousness' going? Me, sorry to be coarse, but I'd be terrified of snoring or farting, so I'd stay bolt upright awake all night in my makeup, just clenching my buttocks so I didn't need the loo.
The experts solved the conundrum of how to scientifically match the couples up - looked at a photo and said yep, he likes slim brunettes. Job done.
I'm sure the English version from a few years ago did the whole his/her hobbies, physical attributes/dog or cat person/backgrounds etc.

MadCatLadee · 10/08/2020 22:20

I love Telv!

Hiya Ellenora

'Course you are welcome to join us - You can probably still watch the other one and there are a couple of threads for the previous one which re still on Channel 4 I should think.

None of us wanted to watch any more (emotionally we got so invested) - our hearts were broken on an almost daily basis), but like fools we popped in of this for the "first 10 minutes"

'Twas fatal . . . Confused

I thought that too . But this is series five - I don’t know who pays for all the weddings , receptions etc etc . If it’s the production company then maybe they’re running out of money . I understood from the last series that the contestants were paid 200 Australian dollars per day but that wouldn’t go anywhere near paying for much of the glam .
LarkDescending · 10/08/2020 22:49

Dean and Tracey’s ceremony venue looked like a marquee frame that they’d forgotten to put the canvas on!

dimples76 · 10/08/2020 23:05

Yikes, sucked in again. Somebody save me!

LarkDescending · 10/08/2020 23:08

Resistance is futile. Go guilt-free, as E4 keeps telling us!

1984andout · 10/08/2020 23:24

Well I wasn't planning on living vicariously though an out of date antipodean car crash but here I am.

I think Sarah is beautiful. I think Tracey is not lovely with her 2 mums BUT nobody should be here with children. It's too awful to have a complete stranger brought into their lives. So irresponsible.

Dean was like a low rent Nick

Telv seems nice

Bedroom scenes were like Morcambe and Wise. So odd.

1984andout · 10/08/2020 23:24

Tracey IS lovely

Honeyroar · 10/08/2020 23:43

I can’t say it’s grabbing me. The Tray Kwins just looked like they’d been told to play up, like Cheryl’s dad from the last episode! But at least they haven’t wheeled her out again for another go!

BlogTheBlogger · 10/08/2020 23:49

Yet @Honeyroar

Italiangreyhound · 11/08/2020 00:00

Egghead68 "Love Sarah and Telv. Dean and Tracey deserve each other."

This with bells on.

Italiangreyhound · 11/08/2020 00:01

The best friend, Liam, was really horrible.

I am, not sure they should match people who have kids.

I liked Sarah, she has had a hard time of it.

I loved Telv, he was super sweet and I really hope they make it.

Already I m not so sure Tracey and Dean will.

Italiangreyhound · 11/08/2020 00:05

1984andout "Well I wasn't planning on living vicariously though an out of date antipodean car crash but here I am." None of us were but resistance is futile!!!!

"...nobody should be here with children. It's too awful to have a complete stranger brought into their lives. So irresponsible." Totally agree.

Telz when he says 'the future could be bright' is just lovely. He can't stop smiling. Her drinking a cup of tea in bed, lovely, much better than all that gassy champagne.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 11/08/2020 04:39

Bedroom scenes were like Morcambe and Wise

LOL!

And I was also wondering who paid for, chose venues and dresses.

And agree with Italian's snippets from posts (above)
