Oh no some mean girl comments about lovely vbf Davina, well actually Charlene and Patrick are my vvbf but I do like Davina. She is nice and you WILL all see it soon.

"Seemed a weird honeymoon trip for jo and Sean to do a go ape thing when Sean didn't like heights and just said no not doing it?
Surely arrange something both couples would enjoy!" not on MTMESA (Make The Most Embarrassing Situations Australia). They are not out to make great matches or good couples but car crash tv.

"Does anyone know why we’ve started MAFS AUSTRALIA here in the UK at season 4 ?

Is it because series 1 - 3 aren’t exciting enough ; too exciting ; too bonkers ; not bonkers enough ?"

Let's all write channel 4 and demand series 1-3. MAFSA is making lockdown bearable!!!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 14/08/2020 18:41

I'm not sure I want to see 1-3, Greyhound.

What if they're sensible?

You know - really look at what people re like, where they live, what lifestyles they enjoy do they want a Polynesian and match them on preferences and likelihood of actually making a go of it, rather than just lighting the blue touch paper and stepping back?

I don't know if I could take it. :(

Of course , the ratings would plummet and these threads just wouldn’t happen . Forget the idea , unless someone has an Aussie friend/relative who has watched them and could advise .

By the way , has anyone here watched the UK or US versions ? I think I may have alighted on the UK series but can’t remember anything about it . At the time I thought it was a ridiculous idea which would never catch on and programme commissioners would never entertain the idea .

Egghead68 · 14/08/2020 19:11

I have watched the U.K. ones. They do appear to make a proper effort to match couples and the series are much more “sensible” in tone than the Australian ones. They are worth watching because of the behaviour of some of the couples though (although some of the couples are very boring). I also saw the first US one. They are obsessed with asking the couples whether they have had sex. I enjoyed the first series. One of the couples is very sweet and quite heartwarming to watch.

LarkDescending · 14/08/2020 19:14

I have watched the UK version ages ago - all 4 series of it are now straming on All4 so I won’t post any spoilers! It is on a much smaller scale - couples are legally married so fewer apply and even fewer go through with it in the first place (we sometimes see them “matched” and then one pulls out before the wedding).

They don’t mingle the couples as much (at all? Can’t remember), and don’t accommodate them en masse away from home after the honeymoons. They go back to something like normal life, living together, and the cameras follow how they get on, before a final decision as to whether or not they stay together.

LarkDescending · 14/08/2020 19:15

BellsaRinging · 14/08/2020 19:17

I've watched the other Aus ones (preens). Ages ago they were channel 4 app thingy. They were much more sensible/responsible (obvs this is is all relative to the sheer madness we are currently all obsessing over). And much less fun for it. Also gar fewer episodes. I believe one of the couples is still married with kids...
I do have a life, I promise. I just used to have a long commute!

BellsaRinging · 14/08/2020 19:21

Can't wait for NP John tonight. I thought he came accross well last time and would make someone a good husband! I want Charlene to be my mate and like some of the couples but am disappointed there's no real desirable man to perv over. I proper loved big Andy and Simon last season.

burnoutbabe · 14/08/2020 19:22

Yes also seen 1-3 and more comparable with the uk USA ones, 3 or 4 couples (there may have been a dinner party in season 3 for all of them) and much less episodes (12/14?)
Much less drama happened.

Virgo1958 · 14/08/2020 19:27

Loving the new series. The 'experts' were brilliant in the last season - no-one stayed together! Hoping for better this series.

How does Jo not know 'he's just not that into you'?

VinylDetective · 14/08/2020 19:29

I watched the UK ones and they’re definitely nowhere near as bonkers as the Oz version. The US version, from what I’ve seen, is done regionally so you’d never get a Sean and Susan tragedy - can you tell I really loved those two?

Destinysdaughter · 14/08/2020 19:30

Truly. I’ve been trying to come up with one based on my new knowledge of Aussie slang, but the best I can do is Mozzie Arvo in Furphy Stralia. Which is not good enough frankly.

So, some new titles:

Males And Females Shagging?

Mated And Fucking Sorry?

Miffed And Fairly Surprised?

Making A Feeble Stab ( at it?)
Grin

SchadenfreudePersonified · 14/08/2020 19:31

See?

That's the sort of unreasonable concern for people's mental and emotional health and personal dignity that we just don't want.

Yay! It's John again Smile

SchadenfreudePersonified · 14/08/2020 19:36

Mated And Fucking Sorry?

I quite like this one Destiny

The "experts" get more and more like characters off "Kath & Kim" every episode. Except if they'd been on "Kath & Kim" we'd all have been laughing at how over the top and ridiculous they were.

Non-Polynesian John's new wife is crying before she's even on the show - does this bode well?

OP posts:
SchadenfreudePersonified · 14/08/2020 19:37

"Didn't turn out that well"

"Isn't quite what I ws expecting"

Understatements of the century . . .

First world problems - they're a bugger!

The "experts" have finally realised they have some responsibility to make sure the match with John works!!
Well done them 👏🏻

hoxtonbabe · 14/08/2020 19:40

Yep, the Oz one is nuts but it’s bloody addictive.. we all seem to love the car crash that this is Grin but it only seems to be a car crash due to the experts and producers intentionally setting up opposites then pretending to be sad that it didn’t work out, yeah right, lol

SchadenfreudePersonified · 14/08/2020 19:40

At least Mel isn't 53 going on 73 . . .

SchadenfreudePersonified · 14/08/2020 19:46

I already hate Troy.

Because he is called "Troy"

Quirky . . .

Goofy . . .

Fills up a room . . .

I'll bet he's emptied a few, too. Tosser!

I'm going home.

Oh, bollox - I AM home.
