Mathew unfortunately appeared to be rendered panic-stricken by the fact that they ate at a restaurant which served something other than pizza and pasta. When Alycia said that dining out was something she loved to do, he seemed to check out of the evening altogether.

Probably because the kids do not live with their dad and in the case of Jo the dad may not be around much so the perosn who marries Jo will live with the kids as well full time, if it goes to a real marriage. If there were a single dad who had his kids resident with him, I'd say it was a bigger deal. But yes, any parent to children is an issue unless those kids are grown up and left home, like non-Polynesian John's daughters.

I don't know Telv's kids don't live with him but it wasn't mentioned as being that they are full time living with him.

Random thoughts: I thought Matthew and Alycia were a good match but he’s clearly completely out of his depth. It won’t last, poor Alycia.

I can’t stand Davina. She’s so far up herself you can’t see her feet. I’m also disturbed by the size of her lips. It’s not a good look.

Dean is creepy.

I’m warming to Jo and Sean.

I love Charlene but not Patrick. He’s not good enough for her and his mum is awful.

I hope the next lot are better, especially the men. Are these Aussie men representative of men from Australia?

@Italiangreyhound ha! Well it’ll be interesting to see which way they go. I can’t warm to Davina at all but you’re right, Ryan has very little self awareness! Seems to expect her to fix him.

I love Telz and Sarah, they look such fun.

Tracey and Dean are pretty much scuppered I think, they have good sexual chemistry but I think cracks will appear.

I feel very sorry for Davina. I think Ryan has zero social awareness. He spat out an oyster at dinner and said “I ate an oyster wrong” He had no idea what he did, and I feel sorry for him that he just isn’t aware. Plus what the heck did Ryan make for dinner?

Jo certainly pulled it out of the bag for Sean, she was so brave. I hate heights and could never do what she did.

Hugely disappointed in Matt. A rather moody response from him at their meal and already expressing his concerns about their differences in regard to a restaurant meal. I felt that was unnecessary.

Sadly, I think Alycia deserves better!

I still love Charlene and Patrick but I am worried Patrick cannot be serious with her, and will be looking for a mummy figure.

Patrick’s maternal dynamic seemed rather complex. I think he said something like “Mum didn’t feature in my life from age 9 to 26”. Lots of baggage to unpack there.

I don’t like Davina but in regards to oyster gate I am with her on this one. Who does that especially knowing you don’t like seafood, and then ordered oysters of all things!

I hope Patrick finds the strength to free himself from his mother, as he seems like a nice man ( although that’s what I initially thought about Abandrew and look how that went!)

I agree re Oystergate. In fact she did well to kiss and make up with him after that spectacle.

I feel sorry for Ryan. I think he may have ASD, he struggles with eye contact, finds social situations hard and he genuinely seems to not understand facial expressions and body language.

LarkDescending Davina did indeed do very well to go back and make up after his appalling behavior. Sadly, I feel she may be the victim of not very flattering filing, she's being made out to be cold and calculating but the tears were real. Ryan looks nice, but I think there is a reason the previous relationships did not work out. It's not lack of opportunity, he probably gets attention from women.

I'm kind of wondering if I'd mix them up a bit! Like I wonder if Ryan would have been better with Alycia, I think she'd be more patient with him.

@LarkDescending I agree with the Patrick bit. I wonder if he lived with his dad from age 9, and only got back in contact with his mum when his dad died? He said she stepped up when he needed her then.

I’d have put Dean and Davina together, but perhaps they thought the age gap - his 39 to her 26 - was too big.

I am not sure Alycia could have coped with Ryan’s table manners!

I read all of the last thread and watched MAFS4 and am up to date of 5 and this thread.

Is anyone else starting to wonder if Davina is the new Deb? Always finds something wrong bit its never her doing it and when asked will deny anything is wrong at all. Saw a flicker of a different side to her when she went back and apologised (and allowed a post oyster puke kiss to happen not envy) but then when she said she was intimate to see if there was a spark she seemed stony faced and mardy again. Or maybe she's a twin - expecting the man to make all the effort and prove himself to be good enough for her. I mean, being pissed off and crying because he didnt want to work out with her was a bit OTT

Dean the baked bean is awful and theyre riding the list train at the min but it will all come crashing down. I reckon he's clinging on to the psychic stuff either as a way to escape now he's tasted her melons OR he had an ex that really f*cked him up and cursed him or made him choose his underwear according to what his spirit guide told him

I think you might be right about Dean looking for a way out. He’s probably got a Madonna/whore complex the size of Australia. He’ll be wanting a Madonna to boss around, and Tracey should have been much less willing to fit that type. That would explain his comments about how they have chemistry but he’s not sure about more. He’s so gross.

And yes to Italian and Lark about Patrick. I’d forgotten what he said about his mum not being there for him until he was 26. I wonder if she’s the type of woman who puts everything into her husband emotionally and then when he died she let a grieving Patrick step into that gap. Making their relationship weird and codependent and dooming Patrick to not being able to connect successfully with another woman (because Ruby feels cheated on and sets out to destroy it).
