I’m a couple of days behind - but did anyone else really struggle to work out what time it was in the episode where Andy returned? Des and Sam had been out for a meal; he and Curly were desperately hoping to catch last orders - yet Rita was on the phone to make an offer on a property! And it STILL wasn’t last orders when she and Mavis went to the pub an hour later!

x2boys · 05/02/2021 13:16

I just assumed late evening if he was rushing off a plane to get home etc ,but yes it did seem to drag on .

willFOURbagsbeenough · 05/02/2021 13:37

I was also confused about the timing!

Also confused about curly just letting the random man calling for Sam come in and wait for her in her home! He could have been any old weirdo! Normal response would be “she’s not home- try again another time”

eggandonion · 05/02/2021 14:09

The absolute horror of the entire battersby family in Mavis's house! Although I would have liked to see upstairs.

x2boys · 05/02/2021 15:04

The " new " houses only have two bedrooms apparently ? Do the Platts only have two bedroom too ?it looks to be the same layout as Des,s house and Mavis,s house ?

Liverbird77 · 05/02/2021 15:50

The Platts' house has a garage though, bso maybe it's a bit bigger?

I’m pretty sure the reason Kevin and Sally did the house swap with the Peacocks was so that ‘the gurlz’ could have a bedroom each...
justthecat · 05/02/2021 16:14

Sally’s writing on the mirror was censored 😂

StillCoughingandLaughing · 05/02/2021 16:15

I loved it when Sally went mad and trashed Natalie’s bathroom Grin

It is a nice house to be fair - but that colour scheme just screams late 90s!

x2boys · 05/02/2021 16:18

That maybe so @StillCoughingandLaughing but ,Les said just two Bedrooms ,that's ok because the girls share to Mavis yesterday ,maybe like all the houses on the street rooms are added as and when necessary 🤔

willFOURbagsbeenough · 05/02/2021 16:29

I was waiting for Natalie to spot it and they cut it out! Grin I wanted to see her reaction!
StillCoughingandLaughing · 05/02/2021 16:31

Sorry, I should have explained that better - I also heard Les mention only two beds, and was confused because it definitely had three when the Websters moved in. Come to think of it, doesn’t Sally have both Faye and Elaine living there at the moment?

willFOURbagsbeenough · 05/02/2021 16:34

When Yasmeen was living with her ex husband didn’t her son and alya and her brother live there too?

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 07/02/2021 16:18

Why the hell did they cut it out? Whore isn't a swear word, as far as I know! We knew perfectly well what Sally was writing on the mirror when she wrote it. Talk about the nanny state!

The Battersbys were just vile when they violated Mavis's house.

Yes! Violated! Because that's precisely what they did. They might just as well have broken in when she wasn't there and ransacked the place - that's how I felt watching that particular scene. It was truly disgusting.

I'm rapidly losing my patience with Classic Corrie. The whole atmosphere is changing in a very distasteful way.

No wonder Thelma Barlow left when she did. She could obviously tell which way the winds of change were blowing.

☹☹☹

justthecat · 07/02/2021 16:53

Totally agree about the Battersbys in Mavis’s house, I was fuming for her!

GreenClock · 07/02/2021 17:34

There’s no way Mavis would have let them in and there’s no way that two teens would have been interested in looking round. Stupid, unrealistic scenes.

Thelma Barlow has been fantastic though. I like the chemistry between her and Barbara Knox.

I do think that the Battersvbys calm down eventually though, and find their feet. I recall how well acted Toyah’s big storyline was a few years later.

Very speedy house sale there!

x2boys · 07/02/2021 17:48

They did just push by Mavis ,though she didn't want to let them
Typical coronation Street sale they don't have have to use estate agents like everyone else 🤣

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 07/02/2021 17:57

Yes, Mavis had no choice. Les just barged his way in, pushing Mavis aside, and the rest of the tribe followed.

The whole scene was horrible.

StillCoughingandLaughing · 07/02/2021 18:20

I remember it taking a very long time for the Battersbys to feel like part of the street. You can see they’ve tried to integrate them a bit by having Janice stick up for Sally with the Rovers boycott and Gary being drafted in as an almost-mate for Les (much as Audrey seems to be the token character being friendly towards Natalie), but it’s not working yet.

JackieWeaverIsTheAuthority · 07/02/2021 18:38

I remember finding Les revolting when I watched first time round. I was a teen then and he just made me feel like I was going to be sick. Hated him.

Liverbird77 · 08/02/2021 15:30

Emily Bishop is horrible to Percy. He's a sweet old man and she's always sighing and rolling her eyes at him. I hope he was happy after he left the street.

x2boys · 08/02/2021 15:50

I thinks she's just irritated by him ,he's very stuck in his ways and opinionated,It must be hard to live with, but he looks just like my Grandad did who was also very opinionated and stuck in his ways ,and it always makes me smile when I see him .

JackieWeaverIsTheAuthority · 08/02/2021 15:52

The back and forth between Jim and Fiona is driving me batty!! Almost every episode he is nipping over to have another word with her and she is screeching and putting him out. It’s tedious.

StillCoughingandLaughing · 08/02/2021 16:53

It certainly is. I’m just waiting for the wedding drama now.

I loved that the policewoman was clearly on Sally’s side and had the measure of Natalie as a hard-faced trollop Grin

JackieWeaverIsTheAuthority · 08/02/2021 16:54
Grin

I loved that too!!

I don’t think we would see that in modern Corrie.
