Do you think they cut Tricia’s birth scene for daytime? I’m sure I’m remember seeing it - and it’s a bit odd that they made a big thing of her giving birth in the pub if they weren’t going to show it happening.

Who delivered the baby, nobody ever seems to ring the hospital and go through a few hours of labour in soaps, or have a little infection in their stitches and sit on a rubber ring.
I was at the vet's and missed today.

I think in the original the baby was delivered by Betty and Jamie.
This was a classic era for Corrie men. Sean Skinner and Alan McKenna are unbeatable!

I never like the crime bits, that man Liz is involved with was a baddie.

Obviously Fraser isn't short of money, so why buy such an old car for Liz?

That model of Fiesta had been put of production for almost ten years in 1997

And yes, a Fiesta is a perfectly good car, but to choose one that's nine years old seems a bit odd.

It’s a shame they got rid of Joyce; I thought she was a good character. Anita Carey was in Doctors a few years later and she played a very different character.

There’s an hour and half of classic Emmerdale today and tomorrow then back to normal

I watched today’s Emmerdale and have no idea why there was an hour special and why there’s another one tomorrow.

Not that much happened today and I can’t see much more happening tomorrow. Yes it was better than today’s Emmerdale but I though they only did hour longs for the Christmas/blockbusting episodes

One-hour specials were very in vogue in the late 90s!

That means I can nip to the post office, I'm not bothered about emmerdale ever since Joe Sugden.

The Joyce actress Anita Carey is the daughter in law of Anna Wing (Lou Beale in EastEnders).

Why was there a character cull in 1997? Was the show losing viewers?

It was losing viewers rapidly and getting critically slaughtered. Carlton was even talking about demoting it from prime time in the London/SE area. Brian Park - nicknamed the Mad Axeman by the tabloids - was brought in to shake things up. We’re just starting to see his first storylines.

Compared to today’s Corrie it’s a work of art! Current Corrie would have had Anne kidnapping Curly and Tony murdering Joyce. Although I do think that Bet is missed, as is Racquel...the pub isn’t quite right at the moment.

So, Natalie and Kevin have finally met! Signalling the end of Kev and Sal as we've always known them.

What a shame. I'm not looking forward to the next few episodes. Poor Sally...

But, having said that, I'm very much looking forward to seeing Kevin with his shirt off.
