David Ferrer is going to coach Sascha for a trial period. Brilliant!

JaneJeffer · 08/07/2020 15:54

Cranky umpire!

Fizzywinegum · 08/07/2020 15:58

It’s freezing here as well - I’m trying not to put the heating on in July Hmm

Hmm Sascha doesn’t seem to have a good track record with coaches does he? Hopefully David can keep him in check.

I love the Duchess of Kent - that hug is so sweet. I’m glad that Jana did eventually win.

JaneJeffer · 08/07/2020 16:02

Hopefully he'll work on that serve. I really want Sascha to do well!

JaneJeffer · 08/07/2020 16:04

Listening to the plane going over Wimbledon made me realise how few planes I've heard passing recently.

Fizzywinegum · 08/07/2020 16:12

The umpire is very cranky!

JaneJeffer · 08/07/2020 16:22

The line judge behind Connors looks very relaxed.

Raahh · 08/07/2020 16:44

I had to take the dog out, which was annoying.

Excellent news about Sascha and Ferrer- hopefully David will work on his serve and teach him a thing or two about stamina!

Jane I live practically on a runway, and it is very strange not seeing as many planes going over. Things are slowly getting back to normal though- my sister went to Spain on Monday.

I'm not sure I like the lime green towels.

OP posts:
JaneJeffer · 08/07/2020 16:50

Connors loves to hurl his towel down as he gets up. It made me laugh that one was still on the ground some games later. No handling grubby towels for those ball boys!

The umpire sounds like Anton Lesser.

JaneJeffer · 08/07/2020 16:53

That woman's sari is the same colour as the towels!

Connors' hair though!

JaneJeffer · 08/07/2020 17:03

It's so bad. Reminds me of Chris deBurgh.

Fizzywinegum · 08/07/2020 17:04

The towels were very green!

Raahh I was just about to post that my hair looked like Jimmy Connors in the 70s! Not a good look for a girl! Although I did usually have a wonky fringe if my DM had given it a trim!

JaneJeffer · 08/07/2020 17:04

There's actually lot of lime green in the crowd. Must have been the in colour for 1975.

Raahh · 08/07/2020 17:11

Fizzy oh dear Grin to be fair, I think a lot of kids did have hair like that in the 70s. Grin

I was only 3 when match took place- and had massive curly hair.

And Arthur died the same age as Jana Sad

OP posts:
Fizzywinegum · 08/07/2020 17:24

It wasn’t exactly a cheery Wimbledon programme was it? So sad for both of them - so young Sad. I watched the programme about Arthur Ashe on Sunday night - it was very interesting but sad how things turned out.

Raahh · 08/07/2020 17:46

No, not the cheeriest, but I'm glad they both got had the careers they wanted. It's a shame that Jana in particular is remembered more for choking in '93, than for all the tournaments she did win.

Boris!!

Our Boris, that is.

OP posts:
Raahh · 08/07/2020 20:04

oooh- quiz question.

So, past champions in 92? Boris, Edberg, Mac, Connors,
Stich won in 92 does he count as a 'future' champion?

OP posts:
Raahh · 08/07/2020 20:06

Sampras, obviously as a future champion.

Oh heres Fed with his dodgy greasy pony tail.

Fizzywinegum · 08/07/2020 20:06

Yay Boris! (Yes our Boris!) Grin

And Delpo and Rafa - you were right Spidey and Raahh - unfortunately there is football so I’m banished to the kitchen!

Raahh · 08/07/2020 20:08

Did Krajicek play in 92?
