Private of course they were. It was never in the script that Simona would win in less than hour. Or win at all, come to that. Any more than Kerber, or Osaka or anyone else was meant to beat her Hmm

Private yep- that's what my afternoon looks like.

At some point my family think I am feeding them.

This is why I plan to walk the dog during the 'boring' bit of the Fed/Djok match. (not that it was that great- it was all just a bit long and I drank a lot of Pimms).

Oh, I loved seeing Woody Harrelson, he really loves his tennis.

Grin yes it was a weird final, and went on forever. I think Pimms was definitely called for! I haven't had any Pimms so far this year Hmm very poor from me.

Also can I just day it took my stupid iPad about 20 attempts to type the word Pimms Hmm it kept trying to write "ProNouncements" Hmm Grin I haven't had any of those either Grin

Raahh · 10/07/2020 15:01

How do you get from Pimm to ProNouncements??

My subtitles just said 'encouraging applause'

PrivateSpidey · 10/07/2020 15:04

I don't know Grin am sure it was definitely the technology and not my typos Grin

Was Woody at the men's final as well - I'm sure I remember seeing him a few times.

Raahh · 10/07/2020 15:05

Did Mac mean to say Moya, then?

OP posts:
Raahh · 10/07/2020 15:06

He might have been- and the doubles- he hung around til the very end, iirc.

PrivateSpidey · 10/07/2020 15:08

Aw "encouraging applause" - I like that.

Raahh · 10/07/2020 15:09

Simona really was excellent.

Just reading about Wimbledon giving prize money to everyone who would have qualified this year based on ranking - that's good I reckon. Also no ballot for tickets next year.

Raahh · 10/07/2020 15:21

I don't think I will get to see the beginning of the men- the dog is getting angsty. Grin

Fed's mitchelin man coat!

I really must go out now Grin.

Quick sprint round the block for the dogGrin

Good news about the prize money, Private.

Andy is ranked 129 Grin. Good thing he doesn't need the money Grin.

Raahh · 10/07/2020 16:15

(I bet his protected ranking would have got him in- though how that can still be a thing, 3 years on from his initial injury, I don't know).

OP posts:
Raahh · 10/07/2020 16:26

It's funny really, the difference between the two finals this afternoon- one that was so short- and then this one!

AC, there, helpfully explaining that 'Nole' is Novak's nickname.

Really, AC?

He really is an idiot Grin.

PrivateSpidey · 10/07/2020 16:43

Yes thanks for the helpful info AC Grin

I didn't realise Andy could still use his protected ranking. I know there's a certain amount of tournaments they can use it but I thought there would be a time limit? Perhaps it started again after he last got injured (ie November??) but I don't actually know Confused

I still can't believe Fed lost this match btw Shock

JaneJeffer · 10/07/2020 16:47

I think AC should have done a concise history of Djokovic for anyone who wanted to know in the middle of the men's final

Raahh · 10/07/2020 16:48

Private I'm not sure if Andy can, it just seems to me that he has been using his for a lot longer than, say Delpo did. I suppose he would have moved up the rankings naturally anyway, by virtue of a number of players being absent through illness/ injury.

I have just read that Djok probably intends to play the clay tournaments in the autumn- and skip the US open. He is very rankings driven. And since he only has 180 points to defend in the US, probably feels it is ok to lose that. Whereas Rafa stands to lose 2000.

Thiem is saying he will play everywhere.

Raahh · 10/07/2020 16:49

Jane Grin

AC probably spent the entire time, trying to get gossip from Boris.

Who, as we know, never tells.
