I was chatting to my hairdresser, who is also a good friend & he said he was in the salon yestereday getting ready & cut a colleauge's hair. He said it was very difficult wearing gloves & a mask & the client also in a mask. I'm waiting for a bit until I go. I've got quite used to having long (for me) hair now!

Sunny, warm & widy here. Had a lovely walk earlier & have just finished all the jobs so will be ready to slump in front of the tennis this afternoon.

Piles & lists appearing ready for French trip - it's so lovely to have something to look forward to.

Fizzywinegum · 03/07/2020 12:17

That’s exciting about the trip magi

I’ve got my hairdressers appointment on Tuesday - I’m a bit nervous but looking forward to having it cut and coloured properly - not looking forward to wearing a mask though

kazzaD66 · 03/07/2020 12:59

I'm having my hair cut next Thursday, exactly four months after my last visit. My hairdresser has put his prices up because they will have fewer customers than normal in the same time frame, due to less people in the salon at any one time to ensure social distancing and because appointments are 15 minutes apart, to allow for cleaning between clients.

Went for a walk this morning. Bright and sunny but very windy here aswell.

Who is Lendl playing this afternoon?
I'm still waiting for a glimpse of the delectable Stefan this fortnight Grin

The Wimbledon channel is showing the Edberg/Mansdorf match from 1990- that was an epic 3rd round match, went to 9-7 in the 5th set.

They are also showing the Federer/Benneteau match from 2012- I remember that one so well. Roger was very lucky to win that one- Benny just sort of gave up in the 5th. I had a dentist appointment in the middle of it- I really didn't expect it to go on as long as it did.

Fizzywinegum · 03/07/2020 13:31

kazza It’s Lendl against Pat Cash Sad

It will have been 20 weeks since my last hair appointment Shock. I was due to go the day they closed!

They were talking to Stefan on the podcast - they just referred to him as The Lovely Stefan Smile. They were comparing his and Boris’s lives after tennis - Stefan came out more favourably

Raahh · 03/07/2020 13:36

It's nearly 2 years since my last hair cut - August , I think, 2018. In fact, it might even have been the year before Grin. I have very odd hair.

The only one who really needs one is ds- dh did have a (not too bad) go with the clippers- but ds has a strange shaped head, and several crowns, so his hair is very unruly. It's lucky he has to wear a hat for work.Grin.

Going back a bit for this one then- Virginia Wade's win. I was 5Grin. I know my mum watched it.

'The Big Dutch girl'- bit rude Dan!

Stefan has definitely done better in his post tennis career. Certainly far less controversialGrin.

Very steady marriage to Annette should have been me.

No shenanigans in cupboards.

I know they said the Queen was there but getting her to do the commentary was a bit much.

Raahh · 03/07/2020 13:46

Jane Grin

The commentary is very plummy, isn't it?

Raahh · 03/07/2020 13:47

I think it was all through the 70s- the Chrissie/Martina match was the same.

I can't believe some of the things Dan got away with saying though.

Makes John Inverdale look like a feminist.

JaneJeffer · 03/07/2020 13:49

The 70's was no place for snowflakes Grin

Raahh · 03/07/2020 13:53

Jane no, they were not . Grin.

I like the piping on Virginia's dress. It looks kind of pink and sparkly.

I saw her play a match on one of the outside courts on my only trip to Wimbledon.

(Must have been an invitational doubles event or something).

I am missing the fun of the 'oldies' this year. They were some of the best matches last year.

And I've seen a clip on FB that it is 3 years since Kim Clijsters invited fan on court, and kitted him out in a skirt and t-shirt. 3 years! I really didn't think it was that long ago. Time is flying.

We will be sitting here watching the real thing again before you know it.

(I really need to stop wishing my life away!).

JaneJeffer · 03/07/2020 14:06

That was brilliant Grin

kazzaD66 · 03/07/2020 14:07

You only have to look at Stefan and Boris to see who has had the less controversial life - although Boris couldn't compete in the looks front even when he was younger Grin

Raahh · 03/07/2020 14:10

No, kazza Stefan always came out on top in the looks department, imo.

OP posts:
Raahh · 03/07/2020 14:12

Now, I know Betty Stöve is Dutch, but for some reason her name always makes me think of an Aussie, and I don't know why.

OP posts:
kazzaD66 · 03/07/2020 14:15

I'd take the dulcets of Dan Maskell and John Barrett any day over the likes of AC and Courier. At least they knew when to shut up and let the tennis do the talking. If they were still around today, I wouldn't feel the need to shout "shut the fuck up, you twat!" at the tv quite as much as I am driven to these days Grin

Tbf, Betty Stove was a big Dutch girl, but perhaps a little harsh nonetheless.
Different times Grin

Fizzywinegum · 03/07/2020 14:16

Apparently Stefan now has a successful financial career (he could team up with Tim!) and poor Boris had to sell his trophies Sad.

PrivateSpidey · 03/07/2020 14:20

Just catching up on your posts Grin

And looking up the ages of Betty and Virginia - they were both 32 in this final in case anyone would like to know Grin (if Dan hasn't mentioned it already that is).

Raahh · 03/07/2020 14:22

kazza GrinDifferent times indeed.

Dan would definitely call Rafa 'The Spaniard'.

I have yet to hear him call Virginia, 'the English Girl', or 'the Brit'.

Stefan has done very well for himself. Whereas Boris has been bankrupt, and spent a small fortune on divorces, and has to keep coming back to Wimbledon to earn some money Grin.

OP posts:
Fizzywinegum · 03/07/2020 14:23

It’s strange that he keeps calling them girls (well not really strange for the time but it sounds weird)

PrivateSpidey · 03/07/2020 14:23

Fizzy yes I heard that - I didn't know Stefan had embarked on a career in finance!
