I thought I might as well start it. As then I won't have to go searching for the new thread.

I wanted Liz to win

yarncakes · 18/06/2020 21:58

Did anyone notice Nicole's face expression after Liz and the model walked back to their seat? Probably just me but I think that it came across extremely rude. Liz did very well! Can't believe she's out :(

StCharlotte · 18/06/2020 22:20

Yes, I think my problem is that I fundamentally don't think sewing challenges should be pitted against the clock, but that's because I have the luxury of doing it as a hobby and not as a profession.

Yes, I often wonder how they'd do with unlimited time. My mum would have been brilliant. She could turn out a frock in a couple of hours. I would like to have seen what Therese could do "at her leisure".

I wasn't sorry to see Liz go. I thought she'd ridden her luck for a few weeks.

Going back to last week, I was in Seville a couple of years back and there was a beautiful young couple (mid teens?) performing flamenco in a square. She was wearing a simple white shirt and a gorgeously simple black wrap skirt with a single ruffle. Obviously wouldn't have heen complex enough for the challenge but my god she looked amazing.

If you wen on it and excelled she could say 'DING DONG BINGLEBONG!"

You are going to enter now, aren't you Bingle . . .

I can see it in your eyes, even though we are miles apart . . .

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 18/06/2020 22:54

@SoupDragon

No swivel in her Charleston though. 😂
Craig would not have been impressed.
SoupDragon · 18/06/2020 22:57

It was a dahnce disAHster darling.

Halsall · 19/06/2020 08:19

I haven't got Netflix and I'm now very annoyed I can't watch the glass-blowing programme. I'd LOVE that.

bruffin · 19/06/2020 08:25

@BitOfFun

Soupdragon, I think there's a site which was referenced which has patterns from GBSB- if we are lucky, they might have the Marilyn dress up.
Think its Minerva
PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 19/06/2020 10:07

Halsall I think you can get a free month 's trial of Netflix. So if the whole series is already up, you could telescope your viewing a bit.

SoupDragon · 19/06/2020 10:08

The Fold Line is where I've see people talk about the patterns.

ElspethFlashman · 19/06/2020 10:11

I imagine you could get Blown Away on streaming sites, like watchseries.eu and others.

Halsall · 19/06/2020 10:11

Oooh, thanks Polkadots

Halsall · 19/06/2020 10:12

And Elspeth

《Looks out an application form and starts reading how to bake make up.》
LIZS · 19/06/2020 10:58

I felt we never got to see the real Liz, just a very toned down and restrained version. Likewise I would like to see Matt a bit more flamboyant in his creations, the Joan Collins was getting there but he messed it up.

bruffin · 19/06/2020 11:00

if you sign up to the Minerva newsletter they said links to patterns and materials similar to Sewing Bee.
Just started watching Blown Away, i always find the problem with these American series is that its all puffed up ego, "im so good at what i do i simple cant possible lose" DD and i were watching the body paint one called Skin Wars and its the same.

IntermittentParps · 19/06/2020 12:28

I'm surprised they sent Liz home. I know there's a school of thought that they don't look at someone's performance/ability overall, but I think they often do; and Matt is weaker overall than Liz.

I don't much like Liz or her clothes, but I think they made the wrong decision.

Clare's junkyard challenge dress was a show-stopper. Just brilliant. Matt's flapper dress fabric was beautiful; pity he mucked it up a bit.

Hmm to the tin-hat comments about Matt and his drag 'agenda'. Does Clare, by that token, have an 'agenda' to push the 1940s on to people?

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 19/06/2020 12:58

I don't particularly like either Intermittent. Or Liz's goth/punk, or Nicole's 'interesting fabric' agenda.

I'm sure the sewers didn't have personalities getting in the way of their sewing in earlier series! Grin I'd rather they just sewed what they were told to, in suitable material. Like the Borg with sewing machines.

TheSmallClangerWhistlesAgain · 19/06/2020 14:45

I really don't want beardy weirdy wokey blokey Matt to win. He's made too many really awful mistakes and he's terrible at measuring and fitting.

I read that one of the challenges in the final is a child's kilt. I think that might play to Clare's skills the best.

Yes, probably. Can't imagine Matt really 'getting' it, and Nicole will make something bizarre Grin Clare's child's dress made from the tablecloth was lovely.

does this mean we might get Patrick in a kilt? (asking for a friend obviously not shallow at all )

That's how I feel, too. Week after week of having to patch a garment because it was 6 inches too small.

The first week, I was impressed with how he "saved" it, but he didn't learn from his mistake and did it again and again. It got boring and predictable.

Measure twice, cut once, Matt.

Stoppit, visions I'm only flesh and blood.

Roussette · 19/06/2020 16:18

I just think Matt has been very very lucky to get to the Final. I had him going out way before this.

I remember one year they did a wedding dress for the final, or am I dreaming this?

Egghead68 · 19/06/2020 16:21

I want Nicole to win or failing that Clare. Matt makes too many horrendous mistakes.
