Tonight's was a bit heavy on the snot'n'tears, wasn't it? If anyone can devise a way of Fletch responding quickly and successfully to his treatment and stopping Essie thinking that she should be able to carry on life as normal whilst she's undergoing chemo, please implement your plan ASAP.

Medani's torso was the only redeeming feature of this episode. I've no idea what the pills he bought were - any ideas?

Not that I've noticed. It was really loud in theatre mid surgery.

What is this storyline about with Max and her credit card?

Is she paying for agency staff and equipment herself because the hospital won’t? I’m confused.

Hansen went down in my estimations in the way he spoke to/treated those three junior doctors at the end. That doctor who found the solution should have at least had some recognition but Hansen just seemed really angry - it just seemed out of character.

And since when did Donna fancy Xav’s brother? Where has this suddenly come from?

I think Hansen's point is that doctors need to work as a team and they comprehensively failed at that. He was teaching them something they won't have learnt at Med School I guess.

Also i think HH is quite hard and mean when you first see him, when we see softer sides it's when someone has needed him or he's built a relationship.

And he did get praised by Medani and presumably the roll of caah

I found that one of the blandest episodes in years. The only thing of any note that happened was Chloe hearing Nicky declaring her love for Cam. It was just filler. Could have been ten minutes long.

Strangely though they filmed way more of it wearing masks properly this week.

I find Max very hard to watch, the character flip flops so much, reminds me of trying to pin down Zosia. Maybe I‘m not supposed to understand her. I know she’s supposed to be complex but the writing for her is odd. I heard the music in theatre and mused it was an odd choice for them to have on (usually surgeon‘s choice?) but did add to the tension about Max doing the op.

It felt like a setter upper.

The JDs - giving a bit of insight into their characters. The try hard, the smarmy one, the won't be pushed about one. No doubt she'll end up sleeping with the smarmy one which the not push over loves from afar blah blah blah

Donna and Bro. She's clearly got the hots for him. Reckon she'll hit on him, he'll freak and it'll be totes awks for a bit then he'll realise he likes her back

Cammo - Mummy has warned Princess so i think she'll be on the look out now. She'll warn LovedUp but she won't listen and they'll fall out but when it all comes out, they'll make friends.

Sacha - just enough to know it's still ongoing and she'll be hard to get rid of

Yes Max is paying for it privately. Wonder how much that bill is! Assume there's no money for it in the budget, which Fletch will uncover.

Jac confirmed she's with HotDocMadani but the HotPatient saw his swallow pills (FFS he could have a headache!!) so he's going nowhere until he's broke that bottle open.

Way, way back when Holby first came on the TV there was quite a thing about the surgeons choosing which background music they operated to.

I think they've got a lot of "setting up" to do after the break, along with recaps of previous stuff we might have forgotten. That, coupled with the filming restrictions and shorter episodes, might make it seem bland to start with I guess.

Exactly. It's like with Donna and Alex. There will prob be some flash back to when he helped her do something and she had a moment etc. It must be weird writing as though months have passed and they need to do some more time jumps to get on schedule for Xmas so reckons there's weeks between episodes atm
