We have been discussing Our Girl from the first series back in 2014 and are now on thread 55!

Uh oh... Weapons from the hiding place...

Ilovelblue · 30/04/2020 21:11

Ooops, the Afghan soldiers plan an is to shoot the Brigadier.

I did think this old woman struggling to the front of the queue was going to be significant - maybe a terrorist in disguise - but I was wrong.

Georgie interrogates Dr Antonio to find out what he knows about Omar being shipped back to Pakistan in some sort of deal.

OP posts:
Delphin · 30/04/2020 21:13

Who called on Omar not being Omar before?

Ilovelblue · 30/04/2020 21:14

Antonio eventually tells Georgie that Omar might not actually be Omar. A need to know basis.

Prof sees Georgie giving Antonio a hug. He's definitely jealous.

I can't stand the brigadier, he is utterly, utterly pretentious, pompous and patronising.

I think we had a few theories on that Delphin.

eejittwo · 30/04/2020 21:15

Yeah, John Michie was a far better brig.

Ilovelblue · 30/04/2020 21:18

The Afghans' plans are thwarted when Poya is ordered to go to the hos.pital. The tension is definitely mounting now.

Mimi is going to the hospital with Poya. She does seem to have a soft spot for him, not in a sexual way, but they do seem to have bonded. Oops, here comes Dr Antonio as a last minute addition.

OP posts:
Delphin · 30/04/2020 21:19

@Ilovelblue : agree on the Brigadier.

Ilovelblue · 30/04/2020 21:22

Poya gives us some insight into his past - his parents' farm was bombed during his brother's funeral.

Whilst in the presentation line awaiting the American bigwig's arrival, there is some idle banter with the platoon. Morbid, but still quite funny.

I've had a message from Rhu as she has been detained with some work issues. We'll carry on then maybe do something again next week? Even do a 6 week watchalong once the dust has settled?

OP posts:
eejittwo · 30/04/2020 21:24

Aw shucks! We’ll need to do something to involve Rhu.

Ilovelblue · 30/04/2020 21:24

Poya opens the cupboard to find a suicide vest! We had one in series 1 with Molly and Bashira and another in series 2 in Nigeria with Bones and a child whose name I have forgotten.

OP posts:
Ilovelblue · 30/04/2020 21:25

Or was it Bones - my memories of that series are sketchy as the writing was so rubbish.

OP posts:
eejittwo · 30/04/2020 21:25

Love the Prof’s lune about encouraging kids to express themselves.

Ilovelblue · 30/04/2020 21:26

I agree eejit.

OP posts:
Delphin · 30/04/2020 21:27

Poya decides...

Ilovelblue · 30/04/2020 21:27

Here comes bigwig Yank.

OP posts:
eejittwo · 30/04/2020 21:27

Can’t remember the name of the child but Bones was assisted by Fingers as well as Georgie.

Ilovelblue · 30/04/2020 21:28

So now we find out what Mimi's past was - she was adopted as a baby. Her birth mother was a heroin addict.

OP posts:
Ilovelblue · 30/04/2020 21:30

Mimi manages to talk Poya into taking his finger off the detonator then boom, here comes Dr Antonio who shoots him dead!

(Rhu and eejit, how do we think Dr Sadie would have handled that in her lovely white coat?)

OP posts:
Ilovelblue · 30/04/2020 21:31

I love the way Lt Hurst explains to the Brig that everyone needs to disperse due to the suicide vest incident at the hospital and then takes charge when the Brig wants to ignore him and carry on with the parade.

OP posts:
eejittwo · 30/04/2020 21:32

Good question - and what about that Aussie sergeant?

Delphin · 30/04/2020 21:33

Waaaaaah!!!

Ilovelblue · 30/04/2020 21:33

Message from Rhu that she'd love to do a second watchalong on this last episode next week.
