We have been discussing Our Girl from the first series back in 2014 and are now on thread 55!

I'm sad it's finished though, especially with so many repeats and other rubbish on television just now. We need as much as possible to keep us cheerful in these strange times!

Two points - reckon Ma Lane’ll think god’s pencil’s a bit blunt if she sees the Prof, and I hope Georgie’s got that kite on a string and reels it back in because she’ll regret it otherwise very soon!

Magi84 · 28/04/2020 22:12

Yes I'm sorry it is finished now as did look forwArd to an episode every Tuesday. Excellent finale though. The standard of this series has been back to how Our Girl started in the first place, and indeed continued in the second one. Pity the mess of series 3 let us all down.

Ilovelblue · 28/04/2020 22:17

Oh eejit, that really made me laugh about God's pencil and Prof! Yes, paediatrician (is that what Dr Dull was?) to plain squaddie is a bit of a comedown in Grace's eyes.

As romantic a notion as it was to let Elvis's ring go heavenwards, I wouldn't have been quite so wasteful, I don't think.

Great final episode - loved it.

Ilovelblue · 29/04/2020 07:37

Saw this eejit on my Google newsfeed and thought of you. We see very little of LP on social media really.

Harrumph! (Not at the gorgeous pics, of course). Did you click on the plot twists theories link. Utter garbage and not one of them half as inventive as my Georgie in a coma explanation.
BTW - notice that there’s still no explanation of how they survived the jump?

Rhubarb01 · 29/04/2020 08:17

So, there was a sunset and a smile st least.

Mimi - yes we sussed that
Cheese - yes getting his comeuppance
Omar - yep, as we anticipated correctly
Dr Dishy - ambiguous but not a baddie
Throbber - yep big softie
Monk - a decent guy
Lt Hurst - has grown a pair and grown up
Kingy - a legend
Prof - a genuine nice guy with an attractive line in poetry
And Fingers junior in the making!

Yes, a good tense finale. Really enjoyed the whole series. Well done TG and cast, I could definitely watch more like that. Smile

SavageBeauty73 · 29/04/2020 09:35

I'm gutted there isn't any more episodes. Felt a very short season. I did love how it ended. How lovely is the Prof?! Cute.

eejittwo · 29/04/2020 16:14

Been thinking - the Prof’s actually very like Elvis when you think about it. Not in looks, of course, but in the way he is always there for her, looking out for her, the way Elvis did. Obvs can’t do the Shining Knight rescues (don’t think he’s quite SF, do you), but he’s still there.

Rhubarb01 · 29/04/2020 16:55

Well eejit Prof is definitely the reliable type you could count upon. Not SF material, but decent and kind without any arrogance. As much as Dr Dishy had a bit more swagger about him, not unlike Elvis, Prof is probably a better match for Georgie. He is intelligent and well educated, and he and Georgie have shared something in common - they have both been grieving the loss of lives they had wanted and expected to lead with other people.

I reckon Ma Lane would be glad to see either of her girls happy with a decent chap - Fingers was a decent honest type after all. Anyway, she can always hype his education "He's been to university and everything, you know!!"

Good luck to her, if this is Georgie's farewell, then it was one with a promise of a better future and some happiness. So I liked that. Well done to MK, she acted her socks off this series. Hope she gets a good role in something else soon.

Haven't seen the final episode yet, and scrolled past the discussion above! I will hopefully join you tonight...bounce

Ilovelblue · 30/04/2020 20:59

Anyone else there?

OP posts:
Ilovelblue · 30/04/2020 21:03

If not, I'll stop it and hang on.

OP posts:
eejittwo · 30/04/2020 21:03

Yes.

Delphin · 30/04/2020 21:03

Im here :-)

Ilovelblue · 30/04/2020 21:04

The American bigwig is due to inspect the troops and meet top cadet Poya in his 9 minute visit. That is definitely military precision.

Ilovelblue · 30/04/2020 21:05

Cheese starts needling Mimi. When do we find out what their history is?

OP posts:
eejittwo · 30/04/2020 21:05

It’s buffering again...

Ilovelblue · 30/04/2020 21:06

Monk is suspicious of Cheese and has been all along.

"Hold your counsel" - great advice from Prof. My grandma used to say something very similar.

Delphin · 30/04/2020 21:06

@Ilove: I thought the same when the arrival was fixed for 1521 exactly ;-)

Ilovelblue · 30/04/2020 21:07

I don't know where Rhu is. She's the voice of reason on our watchalongs!
