Angie's hair is rock solid.

gower4 · 23/06/2020 20:03

Angie was so slim!!

mothtoaflame · 23/06/2020 21:51

Really enjoying Den and Angie, I watched this avidly from day one with my Nan but was only 8. I don't remember the language being so bad. Live seeing all the old decor and branding. Making me feel very old. Maybe Sharon based her hair on Rolys 😂

gower4 · 23/06/2020 21:58

@mothtoaflame I was only 8 when this episode aired, which seems really inappropriate now Grin I remember it vividly from first time around!!

mothtoaflame · 23/06/2020 22:16

Looking forward to Sharongate next Tuesday too.

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/06/2020 22:21

Loving the oldies

This is when you can check how kitchens grow

Pauline’s to Ian’s

And pub / 2 small cupboards fridge and door

Much bigger now

And slaters

All had tiny kitchens will small table and now huge ones

@eatsleepread

I LOVED the end of that episode, BUT for me is was spoilt by the fact that Ian - presumably - put up the money for it. How did Sharon end up in a position where she was financially dependent on Phil? Confused It's depressing how victim-like the women in EE are. They all seem to need a man to bale them out. With the exception of Ruby of course. And FFS Tina, grow up.
I agree with this, the women for some reason have become really weak characters who rely on men to ‘save’ them, it really frustrates me, in the old days of Eastenders the women were the strong ones as Danny Dyer alluded to in his interview tonight, what has happened for this ethos of strong Eastenders women to be turned on its head?
SoupDragon · 24/06/2020 07:50

A strong woman doesn't need to have money though.

Karen is strong for example - she holds her family together and still has room for Kaiden.

If I had to pick my Team I'd go with Sharon, Shirley and Karen. Ruby wouldn't get a look in.

Mrsjayy · 24/06/2020 08:45

I think Ruby is selfish and fickle I don't think she is particularly "strong" give me Karen Taylor any day!

SoupDragon · 24/06/2020 08:50

Also, didn't Ruby's money come from her father?

Mrsjayy · 24/06/2020 08:53

Yeah it did.

Dieu · 24/06/2020 10:34

The Karen situation is untenable in real life though. She has an army of people staying with her, in a how-many-bedrooms flat in London?? She can hold down a job in the launderette while having a newborn to care for, but no set childcare that I ever saw? And all this while having a deeply troubled son, a love life, and two kids with additional support needs Hmm
A woman can be strong without money, but in the real world it bloody helps!
Ruby got her money from her dad, but is young and making something of herself. Sharon used to own a pub, but is kipping in Ian Beale's spare room Confused

SoupDragon · 24/06/2020 10:44

I think Bernie did a lot of childcare.

SoupDragon · 24/06/2020 10:48

Karen's flat does make sense. 2 beds on the same floor as the living room and one (or 2?) in the loft. Karen, Bernie and Bailey and then Chatham, Riley (and Keegan) in the loft. I mean, it's cramped, but it's not like the Slater's Narnia annex. 😂

Mrsjayy · 24/06/2020 10:52

Just because a woman might. Be struggling with life doesn't mean she is "weak" being a strong woman isn't about money or being glamorous And independent. Many women juggle low wage jobs children and I think Karen shows that.

Smallsteps88 · 24/06/2020 11:14

I think Karen left work when she took on kayden. I remember her sitting with billy in the cafe saying the next day was her first day back at work (because sharon had taken kayden back)

Escapinginthecar · 24/06/2020 15:19

Had to come over from Talking Heads thread to say they're using houses for the sets from EE. The Slater's and Phil's so far I've seen.
I like seeing how they've changed it but it's hard to concentrateSmile

Dieu · 24/06/2020 20:10

I didn't say Sharon was weak. Just that it was depressing that a man was finanically backing her latest venture.

SoupDragon · 24/06/2020 23:23

Another poster did "the women for some reason have become really weak characters who rely on men to ‘save’ them,"

The80sweregreat · 27/06/2020 10:04

Ruby isn't a bad role model as she's strong and feisty but she did get a lot of her money from her dad , who was a gangster!
They should show a strong independent woman who earns her own dosh without a man about!
Hard to do on EE as all the money is usually from crime of some sort!

lazymum99 · 29/06/2020 22:44

OMG just watched the interview episode. Letitia Dean looks identical to Sharon in real life. Hair extensions, fake tan, false eyelashes etc

Blondeshavemorefun · 29/06/2020 22:59

Can’t wait for tomorrow’s oldie

When grant finds out about the affair with shaz
And Phil

He cried

Always thoight grant was sexier

Where else would you marry both brothers

And have a vague memory of shaZA aborting grants baby - or did I imagine that

Think that’s how she then became infertile Yet managed 2 kids

ZaraCarmichaelshighheels · 30/06/2020 00:33

I thought Letitia Dean looked lovely tonight, she’s always had amazing legs and came across as a lovely person, never seen her interviewed before.

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/06/2020 14:46

Was funny seeing her and I am soooooooo young

And Phil with hair and grant

Roll on 730

Mrsjayy · 30/06/2020 15:50
