Cheers Jamie. And Jools. (And the crew the first week)

I am currently living with 3 adult family members. Fussy ones. I’m a fairly experimental cook anyway but with locust shopping going on near me still, your programmes have given me inspiration to help me cater for them.

Thank you Smile

I'm really enjoying them too. Going to make the veggie chilli and the flapjack biscuits. Love seeing them all eating the finished meal too.

AgeLikeWine · 06/04/2020 22:29

This is an excellent series. It’s obvious that it has been put together on a shoestring in a big hurry, the sound is all over the place at times, but the recipes are very good.

Wonderbag · 06/04/2020 22:37

When/where is it on?

youngestisapsycho · 06/04/2020 22:40

Yes, where can I watch?

MikeDryden · 06/04/2020 22:41

C4 5.30pm weekdays @youngestisapsycho

TheArchSorcererofContwaraburg · 06/04/2020 22:47

Watched it once. Can score heroin more easily than most of the ingredients he's using. Tin Can Cook far better.

doubleshotespresso · 06/04/2020 22:51

Think it's a really poor show, inaccessible to most ingredients wise and totally overlooks the obvious, talented and qualified choice of Jack Monroe- who has actually lived on a budget and decided her own recipes out of necessity as many sadly throughout the UK are having to do now.

doubleshotespresso · 06/04/2020 22:52
  • devised her own recipes!
HoneysuckIejasmine · 06/04/2020 22:54

Jack Monroe has her own show on BBC starting shortly. Weekday mornings I think, full details on her website.

Movingnot · 06/04/2020 23:07

Thought it was bollocks. 'here's a recipe even the most basic of cooks could think up and here's two more from an old series - you can ignore these though and just replace the ingredients so it's irrelevant really!'

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 06/04/2020 23:52

I haven’t all the ingredients but I’m puddling things together. I haven’t found it to be bollocks but each to their own Smile

I can’t get on with JM at all but I might be in the minority there.

Jamie’s recipes are going down fine in this house and when I have 101 things to manage as well as food then it it is one less thing to worry about.

I will check out tin can cook also. Cheers for that.

We have made the pizza and wrap toasted sandwiches off the series. I find them quite good for cooking with children.

Got my Ds to experiment a bit more.

Starksforthewin · 07/04/2020 03:36

I don’t like Jack Monroe either, Jamie O is much more ‘viewer friendly’.

Did think he looked very unkempt this evening and oh God the dressing for the chopped salad being mixed directly on the wood, why can’t you use a bowl? All those knife marks in the wood harbouring bacteria 🤢

earsup · 07/04/2020 04:40

He's a tosser. Still owes staff money. And splurges on a new house etc. Get rid of him. Creep.!!

prampushingdownthehighst · 07/04/2020 07:33

I am really enjoying it, but have always been a fan of his

Dozer · 07/04/2020 07:36

He had a real nerve taking this job. Won’t watch.

OldSpeclkledHen · 07/04/2020 07:46

I think it's brilliant! Inspired me to "cook" some random stuff, but hey ... I'm slightly bored and have time 🙄

OldSpeclkledHen · 07/04/2020 07:48

Sorry, just opened Reddit and this was the first meme 😂😂😂

Jamie keep cooking and carry on
BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 07/04/2020 07:52

I'm quite enjoying it. It's not rocket science but it's a short punchy show with quick recipes on which are worth giving a go.

I bought JMs Cooking on a Bootstrap a year or so ago and got annoyed that there wasn't many pictures. I like to see the meal before trying the recipe. It'll be worth giving her show a go just to see what the meals are supposed to look like.

Housewife2010 · 07/04/2020 08:21

We're really enjoying Jamie's new programme. The first week with the film crew was the best, but it's great that he's managed to continue under lockdown with Jools filming and suggesting substitutes for existing recipes. It was so tiresome that as soon as his new programme was announced all the Jack fans were furious and accused him of stealing a show that should have been hers. Jamie is a trained chef and has twenty years television presenting experience. He is also a big name, has a long relationship with channel 4 and could be relied on to put together a successful programme at the last minute that would be guaranteed a large audience. Jack is doing a great job on twitter and has been offered her own programme, but channel 4 made the right choice in choosing Jamie.

C8H10N4O2 · 07/04/2020 08:25

I don’t like Jack Monroe either, Jamie O is much more ‘viewer friendly’.

Really? I find him irritating to the point of distraction - its all about him rather than the cooking.

Yet another male, rich celeb to lecture us about "make do" cooking. His first recipe featured "standard storecupboard" ingredients were items most people can't get and shoestring shoppers won't have in the store cupboard.

It should have been labelled "cooking from the Ocado cupboard".

pachyderm · 07/04/2020 08:29

I'm not a huge fan of Jamie but I trust his recipes more than JM's. Also not impressed by her tantrum on social media where she ranted about "That Man" getting a TV show and encouraged all her acolytes and blue tick mates to join in. She's a nasty piece of work, apart from being really stilted and awkward on telly.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 07/04/2020 08:30

What makes JM not viewer friendly? Is she sweary? Be good to know in advance as the dc like cookery programmes so I'd like to swerve any that are not suitable for kids.

MikeDryden · 07/04/2020 08:39

I think JO’s programme is really good, and find the ingredients very basic. I’ve cooked several of his recipes, and throughout each of them he suggests ingredients to swap if you haven’t got them. Very flexible.

C8H10N4O2 · 07/04/2020 08:41

I trust his recipes more than JM's.

You can't follow his recipes if you can't get the ingredients. And frankly why go for another male celeb to lecture us on shortage cooking, when there are women who have been talking and writing about this for years with far less schtick.

I don't have a problem with Jack Monroe, I've seen her do some great stuff but if she doesn't conform enough there are other women who have written and talked on this subject. Most of whom would have some idea of what people actually have in store cupboards and cooking on a budget.
