Cheers Jamie. And Jools. (And the crew the first week)

I am currently living with 3 adult family members. Fussy ones. I’m a fairly experimental cook anyway but with locust shopping going on near me still, your programmes have given me inspiration to help me cater for them.

Thank you Smile

Well cheers for that Jamie. Sorry its the last one tonight but I am happily planning all sorts of stuff and some of your things will be a new go-to here. Plenty of food for thought to go on Smile

Looking forward to the craft thing now. A fine bit of escapism and inspiration for mum This time as I am useless in that department. Unless JM wants to muscle in on that too...

Not sure why it has to be a competition ?

I know there are people that don't like Jamie Oliver, but that wasn't wha the thread was about. It isn't "Would you invite him to a mythical party?", it was "I'm finding the show helpful" - the way the recipes are mostly using things a lot of us would have in the freezer or the cupboard, or can get hold of even in these strange times.
then, when you don't have x or y, then it's fine you can still use a, b, c, d, e, or f.
Great idea, and really helpful ideas.

whether you like him as a person or not, isn't the point.

Harriet that naan recipe looks delicious! Always wondered how to make it at home. Nice one Jamie.

KaronAVyrus · 17/04/2020 18:17

I don’t think it has to be a competition but JM went in a massive huff on twitter about JO getting a new programme on C4 and set her twitter following to have a go at JO about it all. It was very odd.
And now we have had JM on BBC and she’s not setting the world alight so far.

Thank you.

Spam88 · 19/04/2020 20:41

I've just got to the first episode where he's filming it himself - loving it 😂

WickedlyPetite · 19/04/2020 20:56

We've had stuffed naans twice now in a few days since whenever it was on the show. They're bloody gorgeous.

kennypppppppp · 19/04/2020 21:02

I like the Jamie oliver programme too and think that his smallest kid is so sweet. although if I had 20p for every time he (Jamie, not youngest kid) said that jools doesn't like onions, then i'd be sitting on a beach, earning 20%, as they say.

the only thing I've done as a result of the programme is grate carrot and mix it with yoghurt. hardly a culinary coup, but still will miss the programme and his sweet kids when it all ends.

Jamie Oliver has been on Channel 4 since 2003, many different series and does the Friday Night thing. He is pretty much their chef.

So when it hit the decision to go with the person you have made multiple shows with over the years, who knows the crew (for the first week) and then can easily be made using stock recipes from the past. Its a no brainer. I dont understand why the decision would even be remotely controversial.

And it isnt cooking on a budget its making family recipes with a few ingredients.

The shows should compliment each other

I did think my cauliflower and macaroni cheese was better though and I do like the fact even a chef has picky children!

Dont think much of his kitchen though much preferred the studio one!

HarrietTheShy · 19/04/2020 21:20

@WickedlyPetite Finally got flour so will be attempting the stuffed naans this week!

I think Jamie is missing doing the show already. He's been on social media quite a bit over the weekend doing everything from trivia questions to posting about saving British cheese to answering fan questions.

Wauden · 20/04/2020 10:51

I do like the way he presents.

HarrietTheShy · 21/04/2020 11:49

He shared some old pizza recipes on his FB today: www.facebook.com/jamieoliver/posts/10157801287164807

The Pizza Bianco looks gorgeous. Cream cheese instead of tomato sauce and cooked potato as topping. Shock

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 21/04/2020 12:01

I can vouch for it. Delicious! Smile

I'm not a huge fan of Jamie but I trust his recipes more than JM's.

Same here - I was actually mildly impressed with the first couple of episodes (didn't watch further)

What makes JM not viewer friendly?

She's just not good on camera - some people aren't. Seems very tense and unprepared.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 23/04/2020 14:45

Sometimes tantrum is a fitting description.

I'm on Twitter

I saw some of the tweets.

"Tantrum" is spot on.

There just isn’t a comparison to be made between them. Jack cooks and has developed a niche in budget cookery. Great, that’s got its place in a whole genre.
Jamie otoh is a professional trained chef with a whole squad of home economists and registered nutritionists and whoever else working for him. If he publishes a recipe I’ll know it’s been tested many times over, its had a nutritionist look it over and it’ll include other useful things like its calorie count.
