I wish that I could have an afternoon nap magi - if I do ever fall asleep in the day I usually wake up feeling rubbish and very grumpy Sad

In fact grumpy seems to be my default position these days. I’m trying to be a bit more positive today. I think it’s when we’re all in the house together. I need some alone time - putting sewing bee on might do the trick!

Enjoy the nice weather Jane - it’s a bit cloudy here and I think rain is forecast for later.

Have a good day everyone Smile

Raahh · 26/04/2020 09:40

Morning all.Grin

My sleep patterns are awful anyway, but especially bad at the moment.

I am so bored now- and I don't even usually do anything Grin. Every day, dh (because he's such a comedian) suggests we should do something fun and go to Ikea. Grin. DD1 is very grateful that the last time we went (just before lockdown) I got 2 bags of meatballs for the freezer.

It is cloudy here. I feel like I should cut the grass, before the rain comes. I'm not sure there is room in the bin.

Even the dog is not interested in going out today.

PrivateSpidey · 26/04/2020 09:43

Grin magi

Fizzy I'm the same with naps. It's v annoying.

I haven't been sleeping well either. I keep having not nightmares exactly, but just sleeping really lightly then waking up suddenly and thinking of crap stuff like Wimbledon being cancelled etc (not just that obviously, but it's up there).

Trying to be more positive too. Doesn't the virtual Madrid Open start tomorrow?!

Hope everyone is ok.

PrivateSpidey · 26/04/2020 09:46

Raahh good work with the pre-lockdown Ikea visit!

Raahh · 26/04/2020 09:54

I had a very lengthy dream that involved making my gran a cup of tea.

It was as exciting as it sounds. Even my dreams are dull Sad.

Grin
Fizzywinegum · 26/04/2020 10:10

Grin Raahh - yes I’m even bored in my sleep!

Private Sad - hope the sleep improves. I’m still waking up quite early and then I’ve got even more hours to fill Hmm

Is there anyway of watching the virtual Madrid Open? I’m up for watching any form of tennis!

PrivateSpidey · 26/04/2020 10:58

Thanks Fizzy Flowers

Re Madrid, I think they're showing it on the Madrid Open website. They're posting a lot on FB - and people are excitedly commenting Grin

Raahh that's the kind of boring dream I have as well! The other night I dreamt I was choosing my clothes for the next day - a bit ironic considering I've just been wearing t-shirt and jeans for the past 6 weeks Grin

JaneJeffer · 26/04/2020 17:35

These gambling companies are terrible. I don't know how they get away with so much.

Went for a nice walk around the village this morning with DH, before the weather changes and the predicted rain comes.

Just read the piece on the BBC website about the virtual Madrid Open. Monfils has had to withdraw so Benoit is in as a lucky loser. Feliciano is tipping Andy to win. Dick isn't playing because apparently he can't see the point of tennis players playing virtual tennis. Apparently, he thinks that no one will watch unless they're playing Fortnite or Fifa or basically anything but tennis. Obviously, he'll be sorely missed Grin

Did anyone see Van der Valk last night? I recorded it because I used to love the original but I don't like the actor playing him now, I'm afraid, so in two minds about whether to watch or not.

Raahh · 27/04/2020 13:02

Isn't Dick a treasure? Grin

The weather is a bit odd today- looks like it really wants to rain, but is also quite bright. Dh has had to go into work to sort out something- he is not happy. It is the first time he has been into the office since March 13th.

I am struggling to get my lot to do any school work, and need to stop beating myself up about it. It is giving me a permanent headache.

JaneJeffer · 27/04/2020 13:14

I couldn't understand why Gael had to withdraw. Something about conflicting platforms?

Dick said if anyone needs anything he will help if he can and deliver to their door which is good of him but I just can't take to him. He's such a strange character and makes me feel stressed.

I didn't watch that kazza and I don't remember the original.

I’m so glad that I don’t have to do home schooling - anyone doing it deserves a medal! Don’t be hard on yourself Raahh but I know how difficult it must be.

My 10 yo DN had to put on a duvet cover as part of his home schooling Grin - a useful life skill!

I’m sure we won’t miss Dick in the virtual tennis tournament - what an idiot!

I didn’t watch Van Der Valk kazza - I can remember the original - I didn’t like the actor in that - his hair was very yellow!

That is awful about the betting company Jane - are there other ways to watch it?

It’s sort of sunny here - trying to get all the washing done before the rain comes.

Hope everyone is Ok

Raahh · 27/04/2020 13:23

I remember the music to the original Van der Valk.

I've just put a load of washing out.

It will definitely rain now. Grin.

JaneJeffer · 27/04/2020 13:28

It's already rained here but seems to be brightening up again. I think tomorrow is going to be nice and then it's rain for the foreseeable Sad

OP posts:
Raahh · 27/04/2020 13:29

Fizzy I think I am more worried about DD1, (year 9) she really is not doing very much, and it is not like her- I'm just worried about her falling behind- although I know she won't be the only one. Since we have no idea when they will go back, a lot of what she should be doing is prep for starting GCSE courses.

Then I start panicking over daft things, like, the fact I can't remember when I last saw half her uniform, and what if it doesn't fit??Grin

Raahh · 27/04/2020 13:33

One good thing - dd2 had to make a rain gauge as part of her school work ( basically an empty bottle in the gardenGrin), was beginining to think we would never get any rain (highly unusual for Manchester Grin).

JaneJeffer · 27/04/2020 13:34

DS2 will be wearing ankle swingers if he has to go back. He's grown so much thanks to all the sleeping in! He's doing some schoolwork which is more than a lot are doing according to the emails from the school which I didn't tell him about in case he doesn't bother either.

magimedi · 27/04/2020 13:44

Honestly, Raahh, cut yourself some slack. I would imagine (& have heard from neghbours) that it's only the minority who are doing any much real work. I'm sure all teahers are well aware of this & catch up will be the first thing they willbe focusing on when schools go back. Keeping them happy & level is far more important than swotting!

Raahh · 27/04/2020 13:46

I'm trying magi Grin I'm usually a bit more laid back.

PrivateSpidey · 27/04/2020 13:55

My 10 yo DN had to put on a duvet cover as part of his home schooling

Now that is more like it! A genuinely useful skill. I've had DS helping with cooking etc but the duvet cover task is a great idea.

I'm finding it really hard to motivate DS for school work as well. Am trying not to stress about it!...

I saw Kyrgios complained about the virtual tennis. He suggested Call of Duty Hmm the 18 rated game. Yes that would be great for the kids (not).

I think you can watch it on FB in some way, possibly through an app Confused

I'm only really interested in the banter tbh Grin

JaneJeffer · 27/04/2020 13:58

I've "borrowed" DS2's Facebook to watch it. What time does it start?

OP posts:
kazzaD66 · 27/04/2020 14:40

DS is following the school timetable and is still having virtual lessons - both he and his school are very tech savvy. I have no idea what he's talking about half the time Confused They are even having morning tutor group and assemblies, which means he has to be at his pc by 8.35am, so no lie ins. In fact, he's already had his breakfast before DH and I are even up Grin He's meant to be having double games at the moment and is threatening me with tennis but DH is cutting the grass, so that's a non starter Grin

DS is still doing a few mock papers. He was meant to start his GCSEs in two weeks! After the predicted grades have been submitted, they are starting on the A Level syllabus.

JaneJeffer · 27/04/2020 15:16

I'm having no luck watching the virtual tennis Confused

This is Dick's phone number GrinGrin

I saw a bit of it but it's got commentary Hmm and hardly any banter between the players.

I can't believe Tsitsipas doing that!! Shock Kyrgios posted that he was getting loads of calls!!

kazza your DS sounds very committed to his games lesson! I miss playing tennis a lot. I hit about 30 tennis balls from one end of the garden to the other yesterday just by myself Grin. I enjoyed it but then I had to go and pick them all up Hmm Grin

kazzaD66 · 27/04/2020 15:59

Grin private
You need some sort of boomerang tennis ball Grin

DS has just been dragged out by DH for a cycle ride, to fulfil the rest of his games lesson Grin
