Thought I’d do a separate thread for the finale so that if anyone is just starting to watch they don’t get spoiled.

Damian and Giannina. What a fuck up. I couldn’t live with her though. She is seriously hard work.

OP posts:

And I'm sure there's huge pressure, with bonuses, if they make it to the altar.

The premise for the show is awful, but all these shows are pressured to bring out the extreme reactions.

Mind you, i proposed to DH 3 days after our first 😘. 🥺 We'd been friends for a few months, and got married 6 months after that. We've been married 27 years so it can work.

Damntheman · 27/02/2020 13:37

:D I can't spit on them either. DH and I got engaged after 1 month of long distance relationship. My MOH joked at the wedding that we were spending more days on honeymoon than we'd spent in the same country before engagement :o :o

13 years together, it'll be 11 married in the summer so.. with you on the it can work thing!

KickAssAngel · 27/02/2020 13:49

Going to watch k&k then take a break. It's getting a bit boring seeing the same format.
I'm a teacher in the US and got a snow day today so I can take this slowly.

As a quick aside, i don't think the wedding is legal until unless it is registered. The ceremony is more of a formality to celebrate, so even if these weddings happen, they're just a show. They need to get a license to make it official, and it appears that they don't do that

Cati1234 · 27/02/2020 14:43

@WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa fuck I'm working I dont normally do Wednesdays but I switch with one of the bakers .....however it is my shop so I could take an early break/ start a bit later 😋

Horehound · 27/02/2020 14:55

I don't think Damian is abusive and it's easy to just fling that label around but it's dangerous to do that. Especially since it's heavily edited
GG spoke in breathy poetry type ways. It was very irritating. Even at the alter she was giving him the "prove me wrong, cunt" eyes to him and even from that he probably thought oh fuck off.
She's an immature drama lama. Damian was an arse doing that to her but Kelly and Jessica did the same so meh.

I love Lauren and Cameron. She looked stunning. I thought Jessica looked gorgeous too actually.
Bit tacky the wedding swere all the same wedding venue. I think two rooms were used? Bet it was like "right, your wedding is done can you get out cause we got the next one coming in"

Jessica made the right decision.

To the pp who said about GG dress being miraculously clean...yea I noticed that too. And also for their wedding she had to go first bit for everyone else's it was the man who went first

KickAssAngel · 27/02/2020 15:33

They switched around who did a declaration of love first, but then did the "do you take this man" bit first each time (I've watched 3), leaving the bride standing there waiting.

I bet they REALLY exaggerate how long each answer took. They clearly have multiple cameras set up, getting close-ups and then they replay them slowly from all angles.

NoGravyForYou · 27/02/2020 15:36

Amber went first as well. I think they made the person they thought was going to say yes go first.

NoGravyForYou · 27/02/2020 15:39

And it looks like Jessica's wedding was in somewhere else. I don't think they were all filmed on the same day because one celebrant was used in two weddings but in two venues.

QueenOfOversharing · 27/02/2020 15:50

@SavageBeauty73 the bit where they reject them at the altar seems to be the format, as it all comes down to them saying "I do" or not. I suspect they're not allowed to say beforehand. Also, it's fucking brilliant!! 😈😈

@KickAssAngel we have a show in the UK where the groom plans the wedding etc. The same thing happens - they have their "on camera" wedding, but it's not legal til they go to register it.

@Horehound I agree re Damien - he's an utter knob, but she is so cruel (the sex being shit, the no butterflies, etc) ALL on camera! She only wanted sex after they had that fight. She acts like a spoilt little bitch. Her face when she was putting out the chairs - trying to look furious - I would have laughed in her face. So fake & dramatic. The mum bawling! Come on.

When I think about it, it really is a fucked up program, but hey, we have Love Island twice a year now & Jeremy Kyle's coming back, so the bar's set pretty low. 😂😂

Horehound · 27/02/2020 15:54

Yes, @QueenOfOversharing the putting out the chairs and then tapping the opposite one again for him to sit. Pfff

AnneOfTeenFables · 27/02/2020 15:56

I thought Damian had controlling/abusive tendencies and I'm so glad other people could see it. G had a lucky escape.
I don't think he was edited to come across badly. In fact, G was more harshly edited. They completely glossed over D telling G his parents said he wasn't to marry a whore from reality tv. Then the argument about the mobile phones in the gym was classic gaslighting and deflection.

I would love if they had psychologists and relationship experts (including specialists in abusive relationships) to give background commentary like they do on Secret Lives of 5 Year Olds. They could start to challenge a lot of the unhealthy relationship patterns that are promoted by the 'romantic' fairytales and bedded down into TV and film.

KickAssAngel · 27/02/2020 16:02

Queen - I used to watch Don't Tell the Bride until we moved to the US.

Sadly, we only have streamed TV, not cable so I don't have access to the joys of ABC or TLC with all their "Friday night is Bride Night" shite wonders.

Whenever I'm at a hotel by myself I get a cheap bottle of fizz, and sit and watch those shows back-to-back.

I'm actually quite a high brow person with a real job!

QueenOfOversharing · 27/02/2020 16:10

@Horehound you can tell she's got away with that shit til then! 😂

@KickAssAngel ah ok! Have you seen Naked Attraction? That is particularly low brow enough for us high brows! 😂😂 I have friends who are very judged, so I come on here 😂

KickAssAngel · 27/02/2020 16:31

Naked attraction was one step to day for me. Besides, i like all the pretty dresses of the bride shows.

I can't make up my mind about G and D. I think they're an example of how being with the wrong person can bring out the worst in someone.

NoGravyForYou · 27/02/2020 16:33

I just read that the reunion episode won't be on. Netflix but on their YouTube channel and it will be an hour long.

Izzybuzzybuzzybees · 27/02/2020 16:36

I’ve got 20 mins left to watch! Loving it!

QueenOfOversharing · 27/02/2020 16:46

@KickAssAngel haha! It's a step too far for everyone, I think! I cannot get my head round them. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Horehound · 27/02/2020 17:11

@AnneOfTeenFables I don't get that about the mobile phones in the gym. He was listening to her but wanted to switch his music off. As soon as he touched his phone she exploded yet she was using her mobile at their dinner??? Hypocritical psycho

Damntheman · 27/02/2020 17:22

Yeah Horehound. He exploded. When she did it at dinner all it took was one look before she put it down and apologised .where was his apology?

AnneOfTeenFables · 27/02/2020 17:27

She didn't explode as soon as he touched his phone. She asked if he could talk. He brought his phone over and was pressing buttons, etc. If your DP asks for a serious talk then you don't bring your phone with you and faff about on it.

She wasn't asking for anything UR but he turned it into a big drama, wound her up and then he'd put on his 'I'm just trying to calm you down' voice. He was sabotaging the relationship from the point where his parents told him they wouldn't meet her. But unlike Jessica who at least owned some of her appalling behaviour (ie saying 'I was drunk, I said stuff I shouldn't have said, This marriage isn't right for me') he tried to blame G for his bad behaviour. He was awful.

KickAssAngel · 27/02/2020 17:44

American weddings often have at least 100 people at them. These are definitely just agreed it scenarios with a few friends as props. They're just getting dressed up and saying whether they want to move in together. No wonder Jessica's parents didn't even bother turning up.

Horehound · 27/02/2020 17:46

You turn the music off using your phone. So he had to touch "some buttons" to do that Confused

KickAssAngel · 27/02/2020 18:03

Lauren and Cameron's wedding is the closest to a real one with the harp, and families there etc. They even have a minister. I wonder how he felt being asked to do that?

In fact. A&B, and C&L both have full color themes etc but other couples didn't. Messi a barely put any effort in compared to theirs.

How Cameron speaks sounds strange to us, but it's quite usual of a well bred Southern gentleman to be measured and slow like that.

AnneOfTeenFables · 27/02/2020 18:06

KickAss yy when I saw Jessica and Damien didn't have family there, I knew they were going to say no.
I couldn't tell if Kelly would go through with it because she seemed to know that she picked 'bad' men and her DSIS and DM were telling her Kenny was the best bf she'd ever had ... Kenny was a sweetie. I hope he meets someone.
I wonder if they let them watch the programme before they did the reunion episode.

QueenOfOversharing · 27/02/2020 18:22

You turn the music off using your phone. So he had to touch "some buttons" to do that

I think we were watching a different program to everyone else 😬🤷🏼‍♀️
