I loved this show last year and was very excited to see a trailer yesterday that seemed to show series 2 was coming soon and was located in the Americas? But Googling it has revealed absolutely nothing! I thought I'd start this thread so that fellow fans have a place to comment when we have more info.

If it is the Americas, it will stop the contestants just copying last year's journeys, although I must admit I think the Europe/Asia route will prove more interesting as there's such a great variation in cultures as you travel east. But I don't know much about South America so looking forward to being wrong, and I'm sure it will be just as exciting as the last series. It'll be the people that make it - loved Darron and Alex from last year and their changing relationship/bond!

OP posts:

Yes she even made his fit about her. I find her absolutely pathetic.

BettyUnderswoob · 23/04/2020 20:28

@Honeyroar I find her absolutely pathetic

Oh give the horribleness a rest, will you? Angry
What we see on the show is heavily edited; I doubt she ran away the minute he started fitting. And why do you think she was talking about her own feelings when he was being treated? Couldn't possibly have been because her crew were asking her how she was feeling could it? The contestants are not spontaneously spouting philosophically at the camera on this show believe it or not, they're being prompted and questioned.
Furthermore Lizzie is only 21 or so. Poor girl has plenty of time to mature and become responsible.

As I said above, the nastiness of some posters on this thread is appalling.

InvisibleWomenMustBeRead · 23/04/2020 22:39

I agree about Lizzie @BettyUnderswoob but I do think you're harsh about others on this thread. It's a generally positive thread and I don't see any nastiness. Peace and love works both ways.

BettyUnderswoob · 24/04/2020 09:11

But I haven’t been harsh to anyone in particular or personally @InvisibleWomenMustBeRead; just mentioned that there had been a bit of horribleness on the thread. And there has: “I agree Jen is an awful person” for example, or contemplations on J and R’s sex life, the state of their marriage, or that Rob may be gay. Also unpleasant things about the siblings.
It’s a shame, because yes, it is otherwise a nice thread.

BettyUnderswoob · 24/04/2020 09:12

Mumsnet ate my chapter spacing.

MaggieFS · 24/04/2020 14:50

It doesn't bother me so much. I think Jen and Rob come across as a bit of an enigma. One minute they're bickering and the next they're having a blast. One minute they can't seem to get on the same wavelength and the next they're acting like soulmates. They've chosen to go on a TV programme, and given we only see such small snapshots, which include quite personal discussions, I think it's inevitable people wonder about what else is going on (to a greater or lesser extent, some wondering more than other!). It's normal behaviour, as is developing a favourite or dislikes. For example, the sister, yes there were medics there, but all we saw was her distanced from the situation, yet again 'not able to deal with this right now'. She may have been prompted, she may not, she may have stayed and been told to move away, she may have pegged it, we will never know, but it was very similar to her ongoing patterns of behaviour, which personally, I'm not a fan of.

I do think posters are open to changing opinion as events move on as many of us have done.

Ultimately, it's a reality TV show, and this is a discussion forum. Without the characters, it wouldn't be a show.

Personally FWIW, I'd rather it was more about the travel and less about their stories, but like Strictly and seemingly everything else, everyone needs to go on a 'journey'. Scuse the pun.

MaggieFS · 24/04/2020 14:51

Oooh - sorry for the essay, finally got my WiFi back after almost a week without!

NCTDN · 25/04/2020 22:40

I'm looking forward to tomorrow and hope uncle and nephew win but they will need to work to make it to the end. I agree about lack of variety in transport, far too samey this year.
Do you reckon Africa next year?

Poetryinaction · 26/04/2020 08:10

I've been watching series 1 and really enjoying it, but I think the couples in series 2 are more interesting.
I do agree that calling people nasty on a thread designed to discuss a tv show about people and how they cope under pressure, is not very nice.
I bet all the couples are resilient enough to read any of this and laugh it off.

MrsJamin · 26/04/2020 10:04

Africa would be an obvious one, so many interesting countries to go through. It's got to be between emon & Jamiul and Jen & Rob to win, the others just don't have enough money.

MaggieFS · 26/04/2020 11:02

Yes, Africa, would be fascinating.

I've seen links to a couple of newspaper articles today about the final, but not clicked on them. Can we agree no nuggets discussed before they're on the programme tonight and definitely no spoilers?

Poetryinaction · 26/04/2020 11:41

I agree! I also don't want to know who won series 1 yet!

MrsJamin · 26/04/2020 13:20

@Poetryinaction don't read this thread too closely then as I'm sure someone mentioned the series 1 winner!

TheMadGardener · 26/04/2020 13:39

Wonder how varied the transport links would be in some of the African countries, or would it be mostly buses again?

purpleme12 · 26/04/2020 13:50

I don't think anyone knows spoilers about this programme

BettyUnderswoob · 26/04/2020 14:39

It's tonight's the final episode?

BettyUnderswoob · 26/04/2020 14:53

Ah, I see that it isn't, but we may see who wins tonight and next episode is a debrief/ behind the scenes/ chat amongst the teams etc. Or something.

purpleme12 · 26/04/2020 15:44

Last year the last episode was just the winning there wasn't any behind the scenes etc

MrsJamin · 26/04/2020 16:23

Ah. So tonight the winners are definitely revealed. This is the synopsis of next week's episode (from radio Times website)
"The five teams are reunited and look back on their journey, recalling the highs and lows, and sharing memories of the people who helped them along the way. They also reveal what their first impressions of each other were, and how those views were changed by the challenges they all had to face. Last in the series."

BeaLola · 26/04/2020 17:15

I know I've said it before but I hope series 3 will be more like series 1 in that there will be more travel and route options to get to the check points not just buses and therefore it will be more interesting to see how their decision making process either rewards them or not with getting there first etc

I have warmed much more to the Uncle and nephew since episode one. Apart from the siblings I like them all. As I said earlier in thread I would like them to,all cross the line together and share the 20k with a luxury break together for them all.

I won't say too much about my thoughts about what I would like for the ending tonight compared to series 1 as I realise that there are some on here watching series I now in lockdown apart from to say the editing is always interesting.

Also like several on here I have a procrastinating DH who reminds me of Rob - I would be more like Jen - so in theory some great bits and on other hands not so great !

SleepingStandingUp · 26/04/2020 18:21

Tonight will be sad 😢

Next series is celebrities so won't be as good

MrsWhites · 26/04/2020 18:50

Will the next series even happen for a long time, I can’t see many travel shows being filmed for a long time! Awful for me and DH, this is our favourite type of tv show! Will be interesting to see where they film it when they can though, I think this series has shown it needs to be across different counties/continents like series one, just to give a bit more variety!

To be fair tonight anyone could win and I’d be happy with the result although I’d like it to be Jen and Rob, I think it would be a massive positive for their relationship going forward.

StCharlotte · 26/04/2020 18:57

As much as north Africa is completely different from southern Africa, I think it would too samey.

But then I doubt they'll do another one which would be a shame as I love the programme. Hopefully I'm wrong Smile

TokyoSushi · 26/04/2020 19:59

I've mostly spent today counting down until 8pm, let's see what happens!

Wolfcub · 26/04/2020 20:05
