I loved this show last year and was very excited to see a trailer yesterday that seemed to show series 2 was coming soon and was located in the Americas? But Googling it has revealed absolutely nothing! I thought I'd start this thread so that fellow fans have a place to comment when we have more info.

If it is the Americas, it will stop the contestants just copying last year's journeys, although I must admit I think the Europe/Asia route will prove more interesting as there's such a great variation in cultures as you travel east. But I don't know much about South America so looking forward to being wrong, and I'm sure it will be just as exciting as the last series. It'll be the people that make it - loved Darron and Alex from last year and their changing relationship/bond!

I think that they've all been good sports and there's none that I wouldn't want to win. I've probably warmed most to Jo though, so I'd like her and Sam to win.

MowCopCastle · 21/04/2020 20:55

I'd like Emon and Jamiul to win, I love the way they interact with people.

VivaLeBeaver · 21/04/2020 21:25

Yes, laidback is probably the wrong word for Rob. It’s more “faffing” about. I think I’m more like Jen and will just want to make a quick decision and do it, people spending ages examining all options drives me bonkers.....dh is a bit like that. 😁

BettyUnderswoob · 21/04/2020 21:35

It's funny how many Jens and/or Jen and Robs there are on this thread. DH and I are another set of specimens.
DH would be so methodical in this situation, whereas I'd be far more impulsive and "let's just do it!"

I think of it more as complementing each other rather than clashing! 😀

BogRollBOGOF · 21/04/2020 21:38

It's taken a while for some, but I wouldn't be disappointed in any of the couples winning.

I would love Jo (and Sam) to win. They've grafted, and travelling with SNs is not easy. She's such a delightful person and has lived with difficult challenges. Jo is certainly a worthy winner, but she has dialled back the pace and used the budget because Sam wasn't coping with the demands of that way of travelling.

The siblings seem to have grown up a lot and dropped a lot of their emotional hang ups in the last couple of weeks since he had his fit.

Jen and Rob seem to be bonding together too and finding more common direction.

Emon and Jamil have bonded more and relaxed in recent weeks. They really grew on me in Brazil when they met the locals at Friday prayers and their reaction to the street children.

I found when travelling that there's an awkward hump around 3 weeks in, and then it eases up again. Mind you after travelling with DH on a 3 month honeymoon and coming back still married, we joked that it was a good omen for a long marriage. We've managed the first month on lockdown peaceably enough, we know we've already survived 100 days of continuous contact Grin

The budgets do seem very tight this time. I have missed diversity of modes of transport and a greater range of culture compared to series 1.

MrsWhites · 21/04/2020 22:21

I’ve also commented on the lack of transport variety, it’s very rare that they have stepped away from coaches this time. Last series was far more varied, anyone remember the boat when they got stuck out to sea with rank food for days! 🤢

InvisibleWomenMustBeRead · 21/04/2020 22:40

That's true - I've missed the variety of cultures and modes of transport too but it's still been a great series and made me want to visit so many of the places they've been to.

I don't actually mind who wins but would like it to be a thrilling race at the end!

Bigoldwimp · 21/04/2020 23:03

Best episode so far.

slimecentury · 21/04/2020 23:26

@jasperrising they do! I've just wasted an hour looking at all their pics on insta. Better go to sleep now. And hopefully dream of freedom years ahead where we can go explore the world again le sigh

theschoolonthehill · 22/04/2020 00:24

but would like it to be a thrilling race at the end!

They will edit it to make it look like they are neck and neck. Then when the second couple to arrive are filmed signing the book, we’ll see they are a good six hours behind the winners 😀

professorbean · 22/04/2020 06:46

I like Jen. I think she's a strong character that can come across as abrasive but I understand her frustration with dithering.

Also I really laughed at her "eggsy" comment.

Stellaris22 · 22/04/2020 11:18

I loved the eggsy comment!

MaggieFS · 22/04/2020 13:59

I've finally caught up! Rarely to get to watch it on a Sunday as I'm normally frantically trying to get organised for the week, but I think the next one is the last one? I'll have to make sure we watch it 'live'.

I enjoyed it again. Love that mum and son are getting to do some proper sightseeing, even if it's expensive, but she knows that and she's resourceful.

Brother and uncle continue to surprise me that they are quick and haven't run out of money. My opinion of them is completely different from during the first couple of episodes. I loved the faux barber chat we he cut the brother's hair.

Brother and sister were just embarrassing begging like that. I'm so pleased the couple didn't pay for thief tickets. And fair play for then hitch hiking and getting an amazing experience out of it.

I think Jen and Rob (why can't I remember anyone else's names?!?) might win if their budget enables them to do something speedy, but money hasn't slowed down the uncle and son yet. So my predictions are either uncle and son have enough to get to the end and win. Or if they have to stop and work, Jen and Rob to win. Happy for anyone to win except the siblings, I don't mean that maliciously, but I think if they win it would be fluke rather than skill!

Honeyroar · 23/04/2020 09:56

Where was it last year? I didn’t watch it.

Maggie was that a slip or deliberate- thief tickets? Made me smile either way!😁

pinksoda35 · 23/04/2020 10:22

I want the Uncle and Nephew to win, but really would not be bothered who did!( least fave being Dom and Lizzie)
I can relate in lots of ways to Jen and find her very funny(probably because her little stops remind me of mine so much! Myself and my Partner would be just like them if we did something like this
So on that note, Jamuil and Emon to win OR Jen and Rob

StCharlotte · 23/04/2020 10:26

Honeyroar it was from London to Singapore.

Uncle and nephew, I actually really like them, they have done very well with getting information from locals. Me and DH always comment that that would be our strategy too!

DH and I always ask the locals and we've had some amazing experiences as a result. I guess our nearest thing was driving from Perth to Sydney a few years back. Had some amazing side-trips thanks to pointers from locals.

StCharlotte · 23/04/2020 10:31

As for the behind the scenes, when Dom and Lizzie (keep thinking of the posh couple from Gogglebox - are they even called that?) were hitching you could clearly see a third person's arm in the back seat.

Bunnybigears · 23/04/2020 10:44

StCharlotte oh I assumed that was just another passenger in the car. I think unfortunately the presence of the crew makes the journey seem a lot simpler and risk free than it would actually be in reality.

StCharlotte · 23/04/2020 10:48

It could have been another passenger I suppose but all the interior filming was coming from that seat Wink

JasperRising · 23/04/2020 13:19

think unfortunately the presence of the crew makes the journey seem a lot simpler and risk free than it would actually be in reality.

This is why I want to see the footage of the production assistants doing the challenge first! Not because I want to see people get into danger i hasten to add but because it would be interesting to see how interactions etc differ with/without the camera crew. I especially would have liked to have seen it for series 1 which was I think a less 'done' area for UK tourists.

Honeyroar · 23/04/2020 13:29

I agree too. I’ve been to quite a few cities they’ve been to and you’d be on your guard wandering around. Some of these contestants wouldn’t last five minutes!

RoomForMore · 23/04/2020 13:59

Me and DH thought last years was better for variety of culture and transport. I'm sure one team ended up on camels or horses.

This year does seem very bus coach bus coach train bus.

Jen and Rob have really grown on me. I really feel for both of them with the change in Rob's hearing. I find Dom and Lizzie a bit grating. They both dropped out of uni and seem to have no idea what to do or motivation to do anything. So frustrating! And they dont seem to like each other much, although that has improved after Dom's fit. I cant imagine how scary it must be to watch someone fitting, but she literally ran away from him saying she couldn't deal with it!! ShockShockShock

namechangenumber2 · 23/04/2020 16:07

I found the fit so hard to watch, especially as we heard the thud of him hitting the floor Sad

I'd like Emon and Jahil to win!

namechangenumber2 · 23/04/2020 16:08

Jamil 🤦🏼‍♀️

SleepingStandingUp · 23/04/2020 18:24

Tbf to lizzie, she left him with their team medic, it random strangers
