I loved this show last year and was very excited to see a trailer yesterday that seemed to show series 2 was coming soon and was located in the Americas? But Googling it has revealed absolutely nothing! I thought I'd start this thread so that fellow fans have a place to comment when we have more info.

If it is the Americas, it will stop the contestants just copying last year's journeys, although I must admit I think the Europe/Asia route will prove more interesting as there's such a great variation in cultures as you travel east. But I don't know much about South America so looking forward to being wrong, and I'm sure it will be just as exciting as the last series. It'll be the people that make it - loved Darron and Alex from last year and their changing relationship/bond!

There isn't room in the taxi for two pairs plus the camera man

IsabelleSE19 · 02/04/2020 12:58

Taken me ages to get back to this thread! Loved Sunday's episode, and I'm going to be gutted when it's all over (not for a while at least), and Celebrity Bakeoff finishing this week too!

I'm afraid the sister annoyed me this week, sitting round in the bar chatting while her brother was out working. I suppose he was a bit like that when they did the looking after horses job.

Still love the mum and son (although fear for their budget!), and like others the uncle and nephew are growing on me. They do seem to be quite gregarious, and using local knowledge where possible, which is a really good tactic. I'm torn on Jen - I can see how she could be quite annoying, but I think her heart is in the right place and she's just trying to find her way back to a normalish life. I have a friend who can be a bit annoying but when you know her well you look beyond the quirks.

One thing I wish they would change is to sacrifice some of the pre-filmed talking heads sections, in which they basically say the same thing week after week, and replace them with more of the actual race.

I wonder if the celebrity version is already filmed or if it's been binned due to CV?

I much preferred the contestants on series one

theschoolonthehill · 02/04/2020 20:40

I like the contestants, they are all very different from one another (even the pairs themselves).

It is a great programme.

ThursdayLastWeek · 02/04/2020 20:47

Oh it’s funny reading these comments - I was saying it DH that I bet Jen is pregnant by now IRL Grin

I like her inspite of how annoying she is because she reminds me of myself. I vocalise everything, and I piss myself off a lot of the time - but i am sincere and I believe Jen is too.

ThursdayLastWeek · 02/04/2020 20:49

Oh I while I admire Patient Mum, I am beginning to find their relationship irritating.
He seems to be allowed to think only of himself, and while I understand that’s part of his ADHD, I don’t think it should go unregarded. She never seems bothered about letting him know how she feels - is that healthy?

purpleme12 · 02/04/2020 20:49

Mmm yes I see your point

ThursdayLastWeek · 02/04/2020 20:50

Oh and what a massive NOT surprise to find out the Guilty Siblings Who Feel Guilty For Not Actually Liking One Another are Catholic

pinksoda35 · 02/04/2020 20:54

I read that the Celeb version is being postponed

NCTDN · 03/04/2020 10:00

Do you think they have one camera person per pair? I wonder what it's like for them, they have no say in where they go and what they do!

theschoolonthehill · 03/04/2020 10:04

they have no say in where they go and what they do!

I read an interview where one said they knew the pair were going in the wrong direction and had to just follow.

I was surprised the couple who dropped out were stolen from when there was a big camera about although the cameraman was possibly trained on the other person in the couple when it happened.

MaggieFS · 03/04/2020 13:11

I might be remembering incorrectly, but I thought from that article a pp posted a link to, it said two camera people per couple? Either way, I've often wondered how it works in terms of spaces on boats, buses and availability of accommodation - what if there's enough for the purple but not the camera person/people?

Cruddles · 03/04/2020 17:01

My wife thinks the sister is a spoilt brat and has always had someone pick up the slack for her, and the brother is fed up with it

theschoolonthehill · 03/04/2020 18:03

has always had someone pick up the slack for her,

The brother argues constantly with her and refused to work shovelling dung.

The sister lacks confidence and possibly may have been quite sheltered growing up.

Its hard to tell from the edited version we see on our screen,

Presumably although the camera person can’t help them, they must chat during the day and at mealtimes. Switching conversation on and off must be strange. I think I’d feel a sense of security knowing there are three or four people instead of just on the two on their own.

BogRollBOGOF · 05/04/2020 19:06

I read a behind the scenes article from series 1 and the crew generally keeps with the couple, but for example if the couple get the final two tickets, the crew has to catch up afterwards. There seemed to be more selfie-filming last time.

Wolfcub · 05/04/2020 20:19

I'm feeling so sorry for the mum

ThursdayLastWeek · 05/04/2020 20:20

Me too, what a selfish little twerp

Wolfcub · 05/04/2020 20:22

Jen is being bloody annoying as well

ThursdayLastWeek · 05/04/2020 20:24

She is but I still like her Smile
It’s like looking in a mirror with her for me Grin

Bunnybigears · 05/04/2020 20:30

I think the sister is very self centred, when her brother was having a seizure it was all about how she couldn't cope with it and how she didnt know if she could look after him.

LargeGinOnTap · 05/04/2020 22:06

Rob and Jen are at breaking point!!!!
Really saw Sam's ADHD side his evening
The sister is quite selfish isn't she. I thought it was the brother but it's her
I'm really warming to the uncle and brother

Sorry I still haven't learnt all the names yet

coachman · 05/04/2020 22:39

I'm not enjoying this series as much as the first. In the first series I felt it was about the race and had a much faster pace; the stories were part of it but secondary to the race. In this series it seems all about the relationships with lots of navel gazing. The sense of pace is lost.

InvisibleWomenMustBeRead · 05/04/2020 23:10

I'm enjoying it but do agree with @coachman

SleepingStandingUp · 05/04/2020 23:25

Hopefully a turning point for Sibling Rivalry, altho she was useless at the seizure it gave her good for thought.

I think it's late enough in the game now that Mama's Boy needs a change of dynamic

Hopefully date night did Marital Woes so good. I think she's flawed, she knows it and largely knows she should work on it, he knows it but loves her regardless. Whereas I'm not sure if he's as aware of his flaws...

I think Boys Club are blanacing out a. It more, its less Uncle so grown up in charge and nephew who follows in his wake. Was good see more about why there was a rift and actually that it was just him choosing love, which is sad. I think they could win it if they don't run out of money.

How many legs left?

BetelgeuseIsOrionsArmpit · 06/04/2020 00:53

I actually really felt for the sister in the latest episode, as she said that she had never seen her brother have a seizure before, even though he had some in the past too. She was away from family support and in a foreign country when it happened. I still feel highly emotional when my DS has a seizure and I have had more experience with them now. I think this will bring them much closer together.
