I loved this show last year and was very excited to see a trailer yesterday that seemed to show series 2 was coming soon and was located in the Americas? But Googling it has revealed absolutely nothing! I thought I'd start this thread so that fellow fans have a place to comment when we have more info.

If it is the Americas, it will stop the contestants just copying last year's journeys, although I must admit I think the Europe/Asia route will prove more interesting as there's such a great variation in cultures as you travel east. But I don't know much about South America so looking forward to being wrong, and I'm sure it will be just as exciting as the last series. It'll be the people that make it - loved Darron and Alex from last year and their changing relationship/bond!

A follow up would be good, I'd like to know if it changed their lives or if they went back to exactly how it was before.

Sharpkat · 30/03/2020 21:09

Would love a follow up especially on series 1 and how the dad and son are doing.

The contestants this series are not a bunch I have really warmed to apart from the mum.

I lived in St Petersburg for 6 months and travelled around Russia extensively and still would not say I have "done" it!

slimecentury · 30/03/2020 21:45

Loving this! My tuppence... the body language and how Jen is with rob make me fear for their future. It is how she said - she's become a parent to him. I hope they get back to being husband and wife again. They do seem like very different characters though?
Like the brother and sister but can't see their relationship improving at the moment. They are still bickering and not opening up to each other much still.
The uncle and nephew are growing massively on me. Really liked their experiences and take on family.
But my favourite are mum and son. The mother is just amazing. What a lovely lovely woman. I hope they win.
And so good to be scratching my wanderlust in these horrible times. I cannot wait till we have the absolute luxury of freedom to travel. How much I will appreciate it.

LaBelleSauvage123 · 30/03/2020 22:35

Who is it who collapses next week - seen in the trailer? One of the brother/sister duo? I think I saw one of their bright green rucksack covers. If it’s altitude sickness then that’s horrible - and I only had it mildly.

TotesGodsWill · 31/03/2020 19:14

Love this show, only discovered series 1 recently so binged that and now watching series 2 weekly

Does anyone else just watch it and think how badly they would cope! I get travel sick, can’t speak any foreign languages, get stressed if I don’t know what I’m doing, would be exhausted by the constantness of it all!

SkaLaLand · 31/03/2020 19:54

I am wondering if Jen and Rob will be getting divorced by the end.

She wants to build his confidence apparently but does everything she can to knock him back down again when he tries! Clearly resents him for getting ill.

MrsJamin · 01/04/2020 07:27

I thought there were glimmers of hope for Jen and Rob in this episode. I too am warming to the uncle and nephew pair. The uncle was gracious in going to the rainbow mountains when he had reservations about it but could see how much his nephew wanted to go, plus the time with the fishing family was lovely. In a way its a shame they have to race sometimes, they must miss so many awesome things on the way just to get to the checkpoint quickly.

Samcro · 01/04/2020 07:48

Jen and Rob are really irritating.
I am starting to like the uncle/nephew most. the mum/son are annoying me as they keep wasting money.

Samcro · 01/04/2020 07:49

@LaBelleSauvage123 I think its Rob.

TokyoSushi · 01/04/2020 07:54

I'd agree that it might be better for Rob & Jen if they went their separate ways!

Also warming to uncle & nephew, they could well win. I like the brother & sister, Dom & Lizzie, I though they would win but it all seems to have gone a bit wrong for them...

SybilWrites · 01/04/2020 07:55

I am loving this too - my favourite is the mum and son. She is amazing, so patient and kind. I have a son with similar difficulties and I wish I was as kind as her.

Having said that, I do think she panders to him a little bit too much and he is quite selfish. I think left to herself she is massively competitive and would easily win the competition!

SybilWrites · 01/04/2020 07:56

Jen is just annoying. Do we really need to know how long she has been wearing her pants? She's obsessed with her pants.

Samcro · 01/04/2020 07:58

@SybilWrites i have child with lds and just can't imagine being that patient(bad parent me lol)

doadeer · 01/04/2020 08:13

I find the brother really bullying...

CanIHaveAPenguinPlease · 01/04/2020 08:32

I’m loving the mum & son but they are eating through their budget.

I feel for Jen actually. I’ve become disabled since marriage & it does change your relationship. No matter how supportive the partner it’s not what you sign up for.

NCTDN · 01/04/2020 09:45

I don't get the dislike for Jen tbh?

theschoolonthehill · 01/04/2020 09:50

I don’t think Jen tries to knock Rob down at all. It’s obvious there is a lot of water under the bridge and we just see glimpses of their relationship. While Rob cane across ok in the last programme, the week before he was selfish and didn’t appear to take Jen into consideration at all. I think she seems really fed up of the situation, and he is quite self centred. That may or may not be because of losing his hearing or he was like that anyway but because they both had more freedom, she could live with it more easily.

I don’t find her irritating but she overshares and says everything on her mind and I tend to find people like that exhausting. On the other hand, Rob doesn’t talk and I find people like that stressful too.

The uncle and nephew seem to befriend local men easily. Is that primarily because they are two men travelling, more respect given to men, , their skin colour, ot simply because they put themselves out there and are not reserved? My feeling is because they are two men and they put themselves out there?

I still think incredibly patient mum needs to take a step back to help their relationship progress from minder and mindee to two adults (with one still taking into account the other’s additional needs of course).

poppadopolis · 01/04/2020 11:04

I hope we get updates on how the contestants are doing once the series is over.

I think I mentioned this way upthread, but Jen and Rob and the couple that got their money nicked (sorry, can't recall their names) were on the One Show a couple of weeks ago.

It was quite odd as obviously they couldn't really say too much without being guilty of spoilers.

MaggieFS · 01/04/2020 11:35

Yes, the uncle and nephew have grown on me too. I don't mind Jen and Rob, I think they're fairly normal. And the pants comments - partly everyone has a 'thing' and partly we don't know how much is in the editing. When they do their pieces to camera, do you think they're completely unprompted? I assumed they are given some questions?

theschoolonthehill · 01/04/2020 12:26

Ah yes they are answering questions. And probably probed into saying more than they might otherwise.

Pilcrow · 01/04/2020 13:51

Just going by the glimpse in the 'next time.....' teaser, I think it's the brother who collapses. As LaBelleSauvage says, you get a flash of the distinctive green covers they both have on their backpacks.

If so, that will be a big challenge for the sister, to step up and take charge. A horrible situation for anyone to fall ill away from home, not speaking the language and knowing nobody (although the camera crew are there, of course!).

LolaDarkdestroyer · 01/04/2020 14:41

The brother was an arse last episode I'm glad she sat there having a cuppa with the barmaid. And when he was trying to force her to ask directions....they are racing ffs just ask yourself and get it done. Agree the mum is just pandering to her son which is why they are travelling in "style" and he's eating what he wants adhd or not if he like shut up or put up. Adhd is no excuse to act like a 2 year old.
Rob and Jen mmmm she's still pissing me off when she was racing against the boys and they didn't really give two shits as they would all get there within minutes anyway!! Couldn't stop laughing at rob quick stepping with his little plastic bag while Jen was doing a usain bolt Grin

MrsJamin · 01/04/2020 14:55

I don't think the brother was being an arse about the directions, he's right that she should be able to ask a stranger for directions, I think he was doing it for her own good. She's obviously lost confidence in herself by quitting uni in her third year and not knowing what to do next-- talking to strangers is a thing someone needs to get over to be a proper adult.
I don't know why they didn't just share a cab and split the cost at the end - their relative position doesn't really matter as much as saving money.

LolaDarkdestroyer · 01/04/2020 16:09

Yeah good point about the taxi but Jen is all about herself. I do think the brother was an arse yes she needs to get confidence but she was stressed as it was and gedd cc'd was a bit nasty about it.

purpleme12 · 01/04/2020 16:34

I don't think the brother and sister should have come on. They don't get along
All the others who've come on to get closer have got some relationship there already but they just don't seem to get on
