Am I the only one who is really irritated by his misogynistic comments? Tonight he made a 'joke' about Meghan Markle selling a candle smelling like a vagina a la Gwyneth Paltrow.
And when his sniggering husband asked what a vagina smells like he replied 'rancid'. Angry
This is not the first time he's made nasty comments, he's a really unlikable snide git.

And breathe....

@PickwickThePlockingDodo
But that's the point, isn't it? He is gay therefore was making a joke that he doesn't like vaginas

I’m gay too and have never seen a vagina and I’m pretty sure by now I’m not into them but would never describe them as smelling rancid because I wouldn’t know, hence the gay part. I’m not convinced that describing half the worlds body parts as rancid can be classed as a joke either.

BritneyPeedOnALadybug · 23/02/2020 00:24

@Riddikulusness
You can’t apply to be on Gogglebox, you’re headhunted.

That’s half true.

Some are headhunted.
You can apply to be on Gogglebox.

TARSCOUT · 23/02/2020 00:30

I am not keen on the two girls in headscarves (sorry dont know names). Apart from that I like everyone. I guess everyone has the right to have an opinion which sadly is rare these days to be able to voice it.

YouCanCertainlyTry · 23/02/2020 00:57

I could happily enjoy the show without Stephen and co, and without Pete and Sophie.

They're just not my cup of tea. But I guess they're someone else's, and that's the point of the show.

I'll just practice my cat's bum face when the ones I don't like come on screen.

GrimDamnFanjo · 23/02/2020 01:49

I was disappointed to hear the comment. I'd hoped he wasn't one of "those" men.

JustDanceAddict · 23/02/2020 15:51

Agree that it’s horses for courses on Gogglebox.
Not massively keen on Stephen and the Michaels family (the dad was a UKIP candidate I think). Plus they’re annoying!
Faves are
Pete and Sophie
Giles and Mary
The Sidduquis
Amira and her sister whose name I can’t recall
Jenny and Lee

I also miss Leon and June (he def used to make some dodgy comments as well btw!)

Mooserp · 23/02/2020 16:45

I'm not sure if I'm going to keep watching. It's become so staged and I get annoyed with the way they pretend not to understand what's going on or someone explains the whole plot. And Stephen seems to be increasingly unpleasant.

The early series would have me crying with laughter.

The 'fond farewell' comment about Caroline Flack was terrible.

Bellagio40 · 23/02/2020 17:08

Agree - “fond farewell” was appalling.

BritneyPeedOnALadybug · 23/02/2020 17:29

What was the fond farewell comment?

SimonJT · 23/02/2020 18:31

@UrbanHarridan To be fair on the celeb version one of the Little Mix girls made an extremely homophobic comment.

Mooserp · 23/02/2020 18:40

The intro was 'in the week that we said a fond farewell to Caroline Flack...'

BritneyPeedOnALadybug · 23/02/2020 19:05

@mooserp Oh yikes. That can’t even be blamed on a mistake. How insensitive.

@SimonJT What was the comment? I don’t remember if (or didn’t see it)?

BritneyPeedOnALadybug · 23/02/2020 19:06

Remember it *

SimonJT · 23/02/2020 19:22

One of the women from Little mix (I have no idea what their names are) was repeatedly calling the guy on the show they were watching a pansy.

They also left a really awful metoo comment to be aired, that one was one of the women from Leeds.

BritneyPeedOnALadybug · 23/02/2020 23:02

One of the women from Little mix (I have no idea what their names are) was repeatedly calling the guy on the show they were watching a pansy.

Already stated I haven’t seen it but that doesn’t sound homophobic at all to me, let alone “extremely”.

SimonJT · 24/02/2020 06:06

So a woman using a very common homophobic slur doesn’t sound homophobic at all? Hmm

Mooserp · 24/02/2020 07:27

I thought pansy was used as an insult for a man who was being a 'wimp'. Not a very nice term though

rwalker · 24/02/2020 07:38

Can't stand him USED to be really funny with first guy and his mum but now it's cringe he's trying to hard to be funny.

FoxEars · 24/02/2020 07:41

I actually like him. He makes me laugh.

So much political correctness these days. Nobody can say anything without offending anyone. It's gone quite barmy.

Gogglebox is the one programme that isn't pc correct. It's funny, diverse and I love it!

Frangipanini · 24/02/2020 07:48

Interesting that he finds them rancid since he himself is a tw@t.

BritneyPeedOnALadybug · 24/02/2020 10:56

@SimonJT

I agree with @mooserp that it means wimpy and whilst it’s not exactly pleasant, I don’t see it as homophobic either. What she was watching, who was she reacting to and what the context of the comment was would make a difference though, I suppose.

Omashu · 24/02/2020 15:16

I like him. Don’t forget the editing is done by channel 4 too. So you should be annoyed with channel 4 too for leaving the comment in!

desperatehousewife21 · 24/02/2020 16:27

I don’t mind him in all honesty. They’re on the show to give their opinion, doesn’t mean you have to agree with them all.
I thought the rancid comment was a bit Confused considering he’s gay and prob wouldn’t even know what they smell like! I agree I think a lot of what he says is to get a laugh out his husband who seems to be v submissive and just sit there gazing at him.

ConstancetheGardener · 24/02/2020 16:50

Haven't found Stephen entertaining for quite a while . Not sure why his husband is there as he never says anything and seems to just laugh at everything Stephen says . Also don't like the brother and sister who seem sniggering and puerile .My faves are the Siddiquis and Mary and Giles . I loved the last celebrity one with Gyles Brandreth and co , laugh out loud funny in places , like the 'normal ' one used to be but isn't any more

OldHarrysGameboy · 24/02/2020 18:18

Oh come on, pansy is definitely a homophobic term.
