Am I the only one who is really irritated by his misogynistic comments? Tonight he made a 'joke' about Meghan Markle selling a candle smelling like a vagina a la Gwyneth Paltrow.
And when his sniggering husband asked what a vagina smells like he replied 'rancid'. Angry
This is not the first time he's made nasty comments, he's a really unlikable snide git.

And breathe....

Still miss Leon and June

AnyFucker · 22/02/2020 17:22

And his dog is shit

Grin
Rosieposy3 · 22/02/2020 17:27

Couldn't agree more. I was really disgusted with his comments!!!

DesLynamsMoustache · 22/02/2020 17:37

I like the Malones, especially Dave! And the Siddoquis obviously. Everyone likes the Siddiquis. Can't stand the Michaels family though. And I don't really like Giles and Mary, I know that's controversial.

pontiouspilates · 22/02/2020 17:45

He tries too hard and is just not as funny as he thinks he is.

Bouledeneige · 22/02/2020 17:54

I love the Siddiquis and Jenny and Lee. I like Giles but get fed up with how grumpy and bossy Mary is with him. I'm meh about the rest. The programme is past its sell by date.

Stephen is a try too hard bore and pretty thick. I like his husband but his function is merely to laugh at his husbands joke which must be quite hard.

MissEliza · 22/02/2020 17:57

I love the Siddiquis. Apparently from making funny and intelligent comments, they seem like lovely people. Jenny reminds me of my mum but I'm sick of how much Lee swears. Amira from London is hilarious.

Feenie · 22/02/2020 18:19

Wonder where the Leeds girls were last night? I know Izzy has had her baby, so maybe it's that.

UrbanHarridan · 22/02/2020 18:42

I agree, his ‘Rancid’ comment was out of order. Don’t want to get preachy but it was blatant misogyny. Ch4 shouldn’t let him get away with it without at least a ticking off, not cool. Grrr

bugbhaer · 22/02/2020 19:36

It’s not just Stephen though, a number of editors, producers etc. okey-ed it.

supercee · 22/02/2020 19:46

He is so unpleasant, there's always a nasty undertone to his comments and he always looks to his mum/partner for validation. Wish they'd boot him off.

Walkingtheplank · 22/02/2020 19:48

Channel 4 is 'woke' and as such I expect the editorial team considered this misogyny entirely acceptable.
I love Gogglebox but I don't think I'll be watching Stephen's contributions any more. Foul little man.

KnifeAngel · 22/02/2020 21:35

I love them all except Pete and Sophie. He is horrible and ruins of it for me.

BritneyPeedOnALadybug · 22/02/2020 22:05

I don’t understand comments like this and have had a discussion on another site regarding something similar about another show. Why should someone get a “ticking off” for voicing their own opinion and thoughts on a show created for people participating to share their own opinions and thoughts? If you’re wanting someone to blame, then blame Channel 4 for their choice to air it.

Do you think Channel 4 should “tick off” of a goggleboxer if they were filmed on the show sharing their own opinion and said “I don’t think TWAW”?

BritneyPeedOnALadybug · 22/02/2020 22:10

For what it’s worth that guy is so gay I doubt he could identify a vagina in a police identity parade by sight let alone smell so who tf cares what he has to say 😴

BritneyPeedOnALadybug · 22/02/2020 22:13

^^ Before anyone goes crazy basjing the report button for that comment , I’m gay myself, so it wasn’t meant to be homophobic, just highlighting how ridiculous his comment was.

UrbanHarridan · 22/02/2020 22:41

Thanks britney...ladybug,
The fact that there’s a thread about this, (not started by me) means that others found it offensive too. Your post about the identity parade made me laugh but I stand by his comment being unnecessary, not humorous.

And yes, the production team are to blame.
A homophobic comment would, quite rightly have been lambasted and never made it into the show, so this shouldn’t have imo.
If they’re buddying up to the gay male audience with these sort of edits, they’re at the slight risk of ostracising their female audience.

I’m sounding precious now, and truly not easily offended but really it’s just not funny Stephen, you ignorant prick!
May buy or even make and send him a ’rancid’ candle!

OldHarrysGameboy · 22/02/2020 22:56

He's voiced plenty of other unpleasant views over the years but I agree that this one was blatant.

OldHarrysGameboy · 22/02/2020 23:00

Oh and Manchester eyebrow family have been on telly before they were on Gogglebox. We caught an old episode of one of those hospital reality programmes and one of the sons was on there being all ill and then getting better, much younger than he was when they were first on Gogglebox.

doghairismyglitter · 22/02/2020 23:06

Just watched it on catch up. To be honest I found it far more offensive when the clip showed from Marcus and Mica, with Marcus saying:

She’s comes along with her fine arse and kryptonite in her pussy

Not cool IMO.

PickwickThePlockingDodo · 22/02/2020 23:07

But that's the point, isn't it? He is gay therefore was making a joke that he doesn't like vaginas 🤷‍♀️

MysweetAudrina · 22/02/2020 23:32

So that's his opinion of vaginas and in fairness burning a candle with someones elses vagina scent probably would be a bit rancid. Why is it not ok for someone to voice their opinion? I'd much rather hear peoples opinions as it's much easier then to decide if you like them or not. One persone opinion is not fact and i cant see how it is possible to get offended by something someone else says. Surely it's on them not you.

CoolCarrie · 22/02/2020 23:34

His husband looks like a gay version of Micheal Hutchance!

BritneyPeedOnALadybug · 23/02/2020 00:14

Hey @UrbanHarridan
I’m not saying it wasn’t offensive or people shouldn’t be offended by it, but I think that any offence that may have been caused is purely down to production and not in any way down to the individual who was cast on this show about sharing opinions sharing his opinions.

If you and I were on this show and I said the comment about the police line up which you said made you laugh, do you think I, or both of us should be “ticked off” because of it if people found it offensive?

I don’t disagree with what you have said apart from the ticking off comment. The fact it aired is down to the channel, not the individual that is doing their “job”.

Riddikulusness · 23/02/2020 00:18

The producers more than likely originally spotted them on it. You can’t apply to be on Gogglebox, you’re headhunted.
