I just watched season 1. I came across it in the home page of ITV hub and didn’t realise season 2 is due to come out but that explains why it was there...

Anyone else excited for series 2 or have any theories on how Andrew died?

I wasn’t impressed. It was hard to follow with flashbacks to characters I couldn’t recall. Had no idea who the bearded man was.....still don’t as I can’t remember an airport scene which Elderflower said was from S1.
I’m not even sure I’m going to bother with another 5 episodes. It’s a shame as I was looking forward to it.

So I was wondering why none of you super sleuths had identified the music at the end of the episode. It's just dawned on me that I was watching The Split, not The Liar.

BunnytheBee · 02/03/2020 22:48

I want to watch the Split too

I enjoyed it, thought it linked well to the first series. Laura met beard guy and saw him a few times in Series 1. It was too soon after what Andrew did, so it was slow and casual.
Love the new detective with her nicorette gum! Great actress, she will always be Corrie's Becky to me!

BunnytheBee · 03/03/2020 14:31

Oh the beard guy was the guy she met while away - he gave her flowers at the hotel? That guy?!

Cary2012 · 03/03/2020 15:17

Yes Bunny, he is.

BillieEilish · 03/03/2020 15:18

I agree, it was way too long after initial series. I remembered almost nothing!

I enjoyed it though Smile will probs have to rewatch s01. But I seem to remember that had some very upsetting bits.

ChicChicChicChiclana · 03/03/2020 15:59

I quite enjoyed it. I feel so, so sorry for Earlham's son though Sad.

Very silly coincidences:

  1. that Laura's sister just happened to be in the locker room when Earlham's friend was taking the things from his locker
  1. that he dropped the key and she picked it up! (is this the key that was found in Laura's flat? - I guess so)
  1. that as he was leaving the hospital he heard the paramedic announce that it was Earlham's son on the stretcher

I'm guessing in future episodes we're going to meet more women that Earlham has raped otherwise the nurse and her depressed partner (seen cleaning blood off a hook in his boat?) are going to look like very obvious plants.

I also think the tension was stupidly overdone when Earlham was hiding in the boat. We knew it was his friend's boat fgs, we'd just had the scene of him ringing him and establishing that he was away. We also didn't need the close up on the plastic surgeon's certificate on the wall afterwards just incase we didn't get it.

Sigh. It's not great is it? but I'm sure I'll watch the rest!

FawnDrench · 03/03/2020 16:07

Hmmm suppose I will watch next week but it's all a bit silly.

Read a review saying the new detective was a bit like the sassy, gum-chewing black leather-clad
Olivia Newton-John character in Grease and I thought that was a pretty good comparison.

WhatKatyDidNot · 03/03/2020 16:21

I want Detective Nicorette to be a bad 'un. Katherine Kelly's perfect for an antagonist!

BunnytheBee · 03/03/2020 16:31

I have the afternoon off so I’m going to try to watch it again although I just started the Split 😬 Other recommendations welcome!

where can I watch the split series one?

BunnytheBee · 03/03/2020 16:42

The Split is on BBC iPlayer... funny thing is I’m watching the first ep and I think I’ve seen it before!

Cary2012 · 03/03/2020 19:52

Agree with Chic about the silly coincidences.
Isn't the sort of drama you can think about too much, just go with.
Line of Duty it ain't!

cleanasawhistle · 03/03/2020 20:39

I sat last week and watched all of series one.
Really enjoyed it.
In one episode when Vanessa and Laura are sitting in a car ....Vanessa actually calls Laura 'Joanne' ....her real name

ChicChicChicChiclana · 03/03/2020 21:31

NO!? Really??

TweetUsOnFacebook · 03/03/2020 21:40

If the son is at school he must be 16 at most, so why was he questioned alone and then left alone when his father and only caregiver was missing? Surely social services would have been called in?

I gave up after that. Load of pants.

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/03/2020 21:51

Bit confused. Been ages since first S and couldn’t rem who was who apart from LAURA

So car key gets in Laura’s flat I assume by sister who picked it up in the hospital

So how do we think killed ANDREW ?

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/03/2020 22:09

Assume of the lot at the end

Son - as found out dad abused all woman and jumped off pier

White bearded man laying in bed with blue jumper

Her sister - if that’s who grey cardi lady is

Di Vanessa

Katy

Liam her hubby /bil

Bearded bloke /Laura boyfriend

Can you tell I’m crap with names

BunnytheBee · 04/03/2020 08:15

Vanessa actually calls Laura 'Joanne' ....her real name

I missed that but wow.

WhatKatyDidNot · 04/03/2020 09:19

I missed that but wow.

Seconded! I'm going to have to rewatch to spot that.

FeltCarrot · 04/03/2020 18:52

Gawd, I couldn’t stand watching KK talking whilst chewing her nicorette gum.

Blondeshavemorefun · 04/03/2020 20:20

So who do we think killed him

I did a list of suspects

TenToTheDozen · 04/03/2020 20:24

I didn't think the first episode of the new series was very good. Whenever there's an amazing first series of something, the second always pales in comparison. They should just stop at 1. In spite of that, I'll still be watching it anyway!

BunnytheBee · 04/03/2020 20:30

@Blondeshavemorefun Too early to tell but hopefully they’ll keep us guessing! I also plan to watch S2 E1 again before next week’s ep

@TenToTheDozen I’m hoping it was a slow start to jog our memories since there was a gap since S1
