Just saw his Instagram story where he has come out as gay. Very well written letter. Hope he and his family are ok.

I feel so bad for his wife. It sounds as if she has maybe known for a while and have been working out their feelings behind the scenes before he made this public. However, but it must have been heart-breaking for her to be deceived in this manner.

I don't understand how a couple of posters can say it was well known among the media. Yes, there were rumours but he has never had sex with a man and has been monogamous throughout his marriage. It sounds as if it is only something he has admitted to his family in fairly recent times so how could anyone in the media have known for decades? They may have guessed but they couldn't have known if he hasn't had sex or relationships with men.

Call me cynical but the timing of this announcement is interesting, it seemed like the tide was turning against him with rumours of his bad behaviour and his popularity waning a little...
I must admit the timing did cross my mind too. He did say he had to do it for his head though so maybe the recent rumours of feuds combined with this have been having a detrimental affect on his mental health and he's had to 'come out' for his sanity.

Apparently his wife has known for a very long time, and he's been dating a runner for a long time. (Someone I know has insider knowledge, no idea how true it is!)
He said he has been coming to terms with it for the last few years with the support of his wife. That doesn't sound like "a very long time". Also why state he's been dating a runner for a long time as if it's fact and then go on to say you don't know how true it is? Why not just state the truth, that you are gossip-mongering?

I dislike him and Holly and this debacle has made him go down further in my estimation.

I've never thought about his sexuality, even for a second. Him and Holly are just so smug and irritating.

Maybe him and JB have been having an affair and someone found out (or worked it out due to Phil and Johns his n’ his silver fox hairdos) and threatened to out them. The support Matt and H have had as a same sex couple have encouraged them. You wait - they’ll have worked out a “coming out” ice dance for Sunday.

It's a shame he didn't do Unicorn on Masked Singer instead of Jake Shears (who I could have sworn was Barrowman when he sang Babooshka dammit!). Missed a trick there, could have unmasked and come out at the same time.

I don't really follow celeb news and was unaware of the fact he had a wife and daughters, but when I heard this news today I had already thought he was openly gay. Anyone else?

I agree with someone further up thread, I can’t stand Phil and Holly. Smug central. Can’t stand the whole “how drunk are we” the night after an awards ceremony like the NTA’s 🤮

I've noticed that any article reporting this has shown pics of him or him and holly. Not many of him with his actual wife which I thought was abit strange

He shares same mgt team as Ant/Dec/Holly. They did a good job of getting public redemption for the drunk driving Ant McPartlin. After a brief break, back in harness, winning awards, new lucrative golden handcuff deal with ITV. His drunken crash, the addictions, the ex wife, airbrushed away, all back to a cheeky telly favourite.

PS has faced a lot of bad press recently about bullying. Convenient how this announcement will give a convenient and excusing label for his behaviour. And involving Ruth and Eamonn who were the ones who have been linked to the bullying allegations. A good move by the PR company to make their cash cow unsackable now.

There is also the possibility that they have been tipped off about a looming expose. This has PR damage limitation stamped all over it.

Holly was making me cringe in that interview. All how how she has helped him though it, shes been his rock, shes helped him get to this monumental day, her head is on his shoulder and she’s crying like it’s her news.

Give the man some space. Give him and his family some space. It’s not about Holly, it’s not about who he plans on dating next. It’s about his wife and children, and him coming to terms with this. Not about how Holly can muscle in on the action.

I saw it on This Morning and it was an ott cringefest. Holly reading out his statement in her sultriest voice with him sitting next to her declaring how proud he is of himself. Then Eamon and Ruth parading in and hugging him. Surely he could have just left it at his statement rather than putting us all through that egotistical circus!

Smug arsehole had a sham marriage for 27 years but is now out and free, couldn’t give a toss about his wife and kids. He’s a desperado trying to save his career.
Nice timing too seeing as the Ch4 doc Body in the Pool was on last night, his mate Barrymore must be thanking him for taking the heat off him. All very dubious and staged.
Never like Pipsqueak and dislike him even more. This is not going to end well.

I only heard the other week that he was gay and runners involved (from a reliable high ranking media on TV person). May have contributed to a nasty vibe behind the scenes!!
I am cynical over the timing also.

His popularity had dropped recently with the selfie with Boris, accusations of bullying and the fact that his inflated ego has become so more visible. So I am also sceptical about the timing of this press release. His sexuality has no bearing on how I thought of him or continue to view him.
