Not seen tonight yet.Just about to catch up now. Last nights was amazing, though. Linda's scream when she Ollie had fallen off the roof was just but wrenching. I can fully understand Shirley losing it. However surely therapy will only wo rk if Linda wants to give it up and get better.

Stuart might have been a help to Linda if only he hadn't made her husband end up in prison and hundred and one other horrible things his done to all the Carters in the past! Even if he is a bit better now , the past doesn't go away that quickly.

I can see why she's drinking , but it's still sad especially as Ollie needs her to be strong.

It seems it's slang for coat but it's not Cockney rhyming slang (weasel and stoat or John o' Groats amongst a few others). These things aren't helped by the fact that Danny Dire makes some up!

The only rational thing in last nights was Linda not wanting to go to AA/NA meeting with Stuart there. No one would be happy going to a meeting with someone they knew personally whether they’d stalked them or not. It’s different opening up amongst a bunch of strangers.

Possible that smother comes from the Yiddish for clothes ‘schmutter’. And became an east end expression.
