Maura looked terrified throughout the whole song, if they had gotten the head banger out of the way earlier, maybe she would have relaxed. She is not at the stage to be doing that yet, it was a bit mad to try it.

When I saw the 2 professionals dancing (Hamish and Vanessa), I can see the big difference between that and watching the celebrities, there is nobody leading, they were dancing together at the same level.

They celebrities are brilliant, but there is still a huge gap between them and the professional skaters.

The gap is closing though, they really are getting very good.

I’m not a massive fan of the women slebs doing the headbanger as they have to be dragged around the ice like a sack of potatoes until their partner has gained enough momentum to lift them. It’s rather ungainly.
The professional women hold out their leg to be grabbed while still skating, which is a lot more graceful (if considerably more difficult!)
Maura’s partner must have done loads of headbangers so I wonder how he managed to bang her head in rehearsals.
It looked like it happened as they were coming out of the headbanger. Perhaps she went a bit floppy as it looks like the women have to hold themselves very rigidly. I can imagine being spun around upside down by one ankle is rather disorienting!

They changed the exit from the headbanger so she went down onto forearms, possibly a little early, to protect her head from the ice. She did look shellshocked though.

I also wonder how they don't get dizzy when there is a lot of spinning involved. I don't like the headbanger at all. It doesn't add anything to a routine, IMO. I just want it to be over because I'm afraid of someone getting hurt.

Oh my goodness. Just read Hamish's tweet and the reason he won't be skating on the show tonight.

Tuned in for the first time this series and something feels very 'off'. Can't put my finger on it. Not sure if it's the mix of slebs, the new judging panel or maybe I'm just not invested this year.
