Maybe Oti meant the best as in you're the best to someone who you've never met who brings you coffee as opposed to you're the best to the child who just got 10/10 when everyone else got 3.

I don't watch the US DWTS, but presumably Len doesn't tolerate a lot of faffing abbaaat on that show?

I wish he'd come back to judge the UK show. Shirley went full "Oohh errr Missus" on Kelvin last night. He even said he was embarrassed by the comments in the Claudatorium.

If a female celeb said that the male judge would be apologising the next day.

Equanimitas · 15/12/2019 10:03

It will be outrageous if Emma isn’t third!

I'm sure she would have come second in the vote - you only have to look at Karim's DO history, and he won't have been helped by that awful contempowaft show dance.

Equanimitas · 15/12/2019 10:06

Anton in "I only dance Ballroom shocker." Why does she get away with doing no Latin at all? She should only be eligible for half a trophy.

If you don't count Charleston in the Latin category, you can't count jive either so Karim is in the same boat.

I think both Emma and Kelvin deserve credit for going back to dances they did a long time ago and improving them so much. Opting for a dance that you did recently and got 40 for is a bit of a safe bet.

Equanimitas · 15/12/2019 10:08

Then we could have a proper NanzWarz as part of the journeee

I like it! Mind you, we also need a full on toddler battle for the ones who bring in their winsome children.

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 15/12/2019 10:12

I’ve really enjoyed Motsi as lesbian crush eye candy - all those gorgeous hairstyles, the colours, the earrings etc - but as a judge, not at all. If she does the right thing and steps down next season, I’ll give her my hairpiece.

covetingthepreciousthings · 15/12/2019 10:12

and can we please not have any ringers in next years series ( Karim )

I love having the ringers Blush, if we didn't have the ringers, we wouldn't have had Danny Mac.. and I'd hate a show full of the likes of James Cracknell. I think it would be hard to draw a line too, how much of a ringer do you not accept, Mollie would have been a ringer on paper, but she wasn't anywhere near as good as people expected.

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 15/12/2019 10:17

I commented to my dh that Oti did all the dancing in the rumba

Isn't that the problem with the rumba and why they say it's so difficult for the Male celebrities?

If it isn't, why is it "so difficult" for the Male celebrities?

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 15/12/2019 10:20

The Ringer situation is difficult. It would be rubbish with all crap dancers so they do need a mix but it is irritating when they come in at a high level and don't really improve at all.

Encyclo · 15/12/2019 10:37

There has to be some level of ringer or we won't watch. Imagine a series full of Cracknells or Annikas?

It's the trying to pretend they've never danced is what bugs me.

Emma kind of gave away her ringerishness right at the end of the show when she was asked if she'll continue to dance.

"Oh yes, I've missed it so much"

Here I am, back with a full report!

TLDR version: It was Fab-U-Lous!

Full version: We got to the queue to validate our tickets just after 5am. It was so cold! I went to tesco to get a hat & gloves, leaving Lee in the queue. Came back with a hot drink and then Lee did the taco trip. Tickets finally validated at 9:40 (we were 182 & 183 in the queue - someone had started to queue just before 10pm the night before) and we went to thaw out in Costa. We were told to return at 2:15 where we queued again and was let in at 3:00 into the holding marquee where there was a bar, souvenir shop and a photo booth.

They started sending us in to the studio at 4pm in order of when we got our tickets. The first 26 people were seated downstairs beside the main cameras. We were led upstairs to the balcony. We were in the front row above the judges so had a great view on the opposite side of all the celebrities as they took their seats and of Claudia’s lair. Before the show started, Ed Balls, Yvette Cooper and Nicky Morgan came up to view the balcony. (I was spitting distance from Nicky Morgan but managed to restrain myself).

They pre-recorded the group dance twice at 5pm then the celebrity group dance twice at 6pm. During one break from filming (on the way back from a trip to the portaloos) I crossed paths with Stacy Dooley and Joe Sugg as they were off to (I assume) their bar. In total fangirl frenzy I said “Thank you Stacy & Joe! Thank you so much for last year!” Joe said thank you in return and Stacy returned from the doorway she had disappeared to and said thanks and smiled. (I’m easily pleased.) Alex Kingston was placed in the balcony (I absolutely love her) just along from Claudia’s room.

Claudia and Tess are brilliant. Very professional. When running through their lines, they gave us a few points where they wanted us to cheer. Warm up guy was great. Told us to boo at Craig and cheer at all good comments. I liked the way that Tess took the floor manager’s hand as her guided her off the floor or to the next placing. Gorka was very much a gentleman and guided Tess and Claudia up the stairs to the balcony when they needed to be there. It felt very regal.

There was a point where Bruno found a bottle of windolene under his desk while we were on air (during a balcony shot) so really hammed it up until floor manager confiscated it.

I loved all the dances, watching Gorka, Giovanni & Aljaz aping around at the back, my fellow comrades-in-arms who waited in line with us, the fact that I didn’t lose any toes to frostbite. I also got close to Karim as he whizzed past me on the way out and I said well done to him.

It was worth the lack of sleep and the cold.

DoesntLeftoverTurkeySoupDragOn · 15/12/2019 10:45

That sounds a-may-zing 🙂

Encyclo · 15/12/2019 10:47

What a day @MyNameIsJane!!

Clawdy · 15/12/2019 10:50

Nice to hear something positive about Tess! She gets so much stick on here, and I feel a bit sorry for her.

Theromanempire · 15/12/2019 10:51

jane what an experience! One question though - the audience were all glammed up (the ones I noticed behind where Tess stands) so would they have been dressed like that through all the queuing from 10pm the night before?? I can barely keep my hair and make up looking good for a few hours in an evening Grin

SimonJT · 15/12/2019 10:52

It’s a long day isn’t it @MyNameIsJane, I went a few years ago to see my partner perform (not a dancer), as they were performing live (not pre-record a few days before) we had to be there for 8:30 for the first sound check, they were then repeated after every rehearsal, despite that the sound was still wrong!

ppeatfruit · 15/12/2019 10:54

Well morning everyone ! I ran out of charge last night. I couldn't be bothered to get the charger (lazy emoji).

The RIGHT couple won thank goodness Xmas Grin Xmas Grin By a mile (that show dance was breathtaking blimey ) . I liked Oti saying that Kelvin wanted to perfect the dances for the love of the dahnce\ himself not for the glory of winning. I've never noticed her crying so much. She really likes him.

Jane did post quickly saying she enjoyed herself and she'll get back to us later.

iklboodolphrednosedreindeer · 15/12/2019 11:01

@ppeatfruit - Jane has just updated Smile

ppeatfruit · 15/12/2019 11:01

Sorry *Jane Thanks for that Xmas Blush it took a long time to read ALL your posts ,that's my excuse .

So they tell the audience to boo Craig , they're idiots !!!!!!

WineOrGinOrBoth · 15/12/2019 11:07
